Chapter 3:She Called Him “Mom” (2/4)

Wilfred said goodbye to Simon and got in his car. Robert the driver asked, “Young master, will you go back to your house?”

Wilfred glimpsed at the car which just drove out of the club’s area. He rubbed his Aquilaria Crassna beads and sighed, “Follow that car.”

A Maybach and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan drove through the silence of the night to Spencer’s house. Both cars stopped. The Cullinan stop behind Maybach under a willow tree.

Wilfred lowered the window and saw the door of Maybach was opened. Lorry jumped out and carried the unconscious Rora to the door of Spencer’s house. She stumbled a few steps but turned back, saying thank you to the driver.

Then she staggered to the door supporting Rora with her shoulder. She seemed to have infinite power hidden in such a petite body as Rora was a head higher than her. The scene was so funny that Wilfred couldn’t help curving his lips a bit.

Until the figure completely disappeared in the door of Spencer’s house, Robert tentatively asked, “Since we are here, would you like to go back?”

Wilfred slowly put the beads on his wrist and took off his glasses, “No, go back to my Yi Jian Cottage.” He looked a bit weary.

The next morning, while Rora was still asleep, Lorry took her backpack and went out. After entering the university, she was busy with her study, thus reducing her time to practice at the Kongfu School. It was summer vacation now, she rushed to Liang’s Kongfu School early in the morning.

Although she was young at age, she was already a senior member of the school. Although Kongfu practitioners were particular about seniority, Lorry had recruited many apprentices these years. And some of her apprentices recruited their apprentices, all were teenagers.

So it was funny to see Lorry’s high prestige at a such young age in the Kongfu school.

Wilfred was in the lounge on the second floor. Holding a cup of tea, he looked down through the floor glass to see Lorry practicing with her disciples. His eyebrows slightly raised.

Master Liang sat on the sofa opposite Wilfred smiling kindly. He looked very energetic in his grizzled hair. “You haven’t seen her for so many years. How do you feel?”

Wilfred pretended not to understand.

“What do you mean Master Liang?”

“The girl becomes pretty now.”

Wilfred didn’t say anything. His face was calm and still.

Master Liang snorted, “She was an ugly duckling when sent here. At that time, she was thin and tiny, with short hair, and dressed like a boy. All the children in our school thought she was a boy and always bullied her. When I left or didn’t pay attention, she would be wounded all over. But she was stubborn and wouldn’t give in, which brought about a lot of suffering.

The guys didn’t know she was a girl until two or three years later. But she had become undefeated then. When she was busy with the middle school exam, she had no time to have her hair cut. As the hair grew longer, her beauty was revealed. The guys called her Master Wukong* (Monkey King in Journey to the West).”

“Why?” asked Wilfred.

Master Liang said proudly, “The old proverb said that a girl changes 18 times in appearance during growing up. But Lorry has 72 changes*(Monkey King could change into 72 kinds of objects in Journey to the West ). That was much more than the average girl.”

Wilfred surely understood that Master Liang was bragging about his apprentice. He didn’t go in seriously and changed the topic. “When did she send here?” He blew the tea floating on the cup and asked lightly.

“The second half of the year after your leaving.”

Wilfred was not surprised. The children of Spencer’s family would be sent to the Kongfu school at a similar age, except Samuel, who was weak and usually ill.

Master Liang continued, “Philip and Lorry were sent here together. But Philip only stayed for three months. He couldn’t bear the hardships and kept asking his mother to take him back. Lorry persevered. Although she was a little girl, she was clever and willing to study. She was a little like you.”

Holding the teacup, Wilfred’s fingers moved a bit. He dropped his eyes. “At that time, she refused to go back to Spencer’s house after school. She did homework on the floor and practiced with us after finishing it. And she gradually became fierce in fighting. Her talent was not the best, but she was the most diligent. Almost all her contemporaries were beaten down by her. You mentioned that you need a fellow from me who is well-educated and smart. All are crude men here except a top girl. How do you think?”

When Wilfred returned from abroad, he came to visit Master Liang and asked him to recommend a safeguard to him. It wasn’t because he didn’t trust the security department in the group. He needed his own fellow. Liang’s Kongfu School could provide him with a trustworthy one that they knew inside out.
