Wilfred’s generous spending of ¥10,000,000 caused quite a stir. After all, the young master of the Spencer family bought a lady’s pendant at auction for such a high price immediately after his return from abroad. Such a high-profile act, in addition to the gossip published this morning, has given rise to much speculation.

The media wrote a draft entitled “The young master of the Spencer family auctioned for ¥10,000,000 to please Nicole”, which immediately went viral.

Before the auction was over, Wilfred and his men got up and left. Lorry had to follow and left as well. Rora complained that she had been left in the lurch.

But as soon as they reached the corridor, a voice came over, “Wilfred”.

The group of people stopped. Lorry was at the end of the line. It was Catherine Owen, wearing a long pale dress. She was cold and intelligent and looked like a competent woman. She took a few steps towards Wilfred and held out her hand for a handshake, “Long time no see. Simon said you were back days ago.”

Wilfred did not move. The people around him stood in a semi-circle and looked at the young madam of the Owen family. Seconds later, Wilfred’s hand was still in his pocket and he had no intention of taking it out.

Catherine was slightly embarrassed. But she hid it well, smiling anyway. “I heard Nicole’s news this morning. I’m sorry to have caused you any trouble.”

Catherine was the eldest daughter of the Owen family, who controlled 53% of the shares in Xingyi Media. Ten years ago, she started her career in the film and television industry, founded Xingyi Media and went public overseas. She created many entertainment myths and produced many A and C class stars. Catherine was an all-powerful woman in the entertainment industry. Coincidentally, Nicole was an actress in her company.

But Wilfred obviously did not accept her apology. He was clear about how false it was. If Catherine was sincere, she would not have published the photo that morning.

Seeing that Wilfred hadn’t dropped his poker face, Catherine changed the subject and joked, “Don’t you remember me? I’m Simon’s sister.”

Her hand was still in the air. Her feminine charm was accentuated by her delicate make-up. And she was at a standstill with Wilfred.

After a long moment, Wilfred’s right hand slowly came out of his pocket. He simply shook her hand, “Hello”. It was for Simon’s sake.

Catherine smiled, “I didn’t drive today, can I take your car back to the city centre?”

Wilfred had withdrawn his hand. He replied lightly, “Sorry, no seats available.”

Then he ignored her and walked away. As soon as he was out of the venue he reached out to Kevin. Kevin took out a wet wipe and handed it to Wilfred. He frowned and carefully wiped the hand that had shaken Catherine’s, a look of disgust in his eyes.

The rest of the people left for the car park, Wilfred saying a few words to Kevin as he wiped his hands.

Kevin had to stay behind until the auction was over to handle the procedures for the jade pendant. The organizers were responsible for the security of the items in the exhibition, but they had to take care of it themselves once the item left the venue. So Paul had to stay.

After Kevin and Paul had left, Wilfred saw Lorry standing behind him a few steps away.

She stared at Wilfred wiping his hands and thought of Kevin reminding her repeatedly not to touch Wilfred this morning. She felt there must be something unusual about him.

Wilfred  squint his eyes and said to Lorry, “Come here.”

Lorry walked in front of him. His rimless glasses hid some of his sight, making it difficult to understand his heart.

The difference in height between them was  quite big. Wilfred leaned against the pillar behind him to look at Lorry at eye level. He silently stared at her for a while, tossed the handkerchief into the rubbish bin beside him and asked slowly, “Do you have anything to ask me?”

They had been busy all morning, so Wilfred hadn’t had a chance to talk to her. Although Master Liang wanted Lorry to stay with him, if she didn’t want to, Wilfred wouldn’t force her.

To his surprise, Lorry asked, “Did I really pull you and call you Mum that night?”

“… ”

Wilfred dropped his eyes for a moment. He looked at her again and asked, “What did your master tell you?”

“He told me to protect you and that you would relocate our school.”

“And?” Wilfred assumed a cool and noble posture.

“And to obey and not to be willful.”

Wilfred smiled so lightly it was hardly noticed.

“So you have no opinion?”

“Yes. Are… are meals included?”

“…” There was actually a small smile on Wilfred’s face.

His eyes behind the rimless glasses were deep and nonchalant. The sky outside was full of dark clouds. The weather in summer was always uncertain with rain. There was a crack in the thick clouds. A ray of light shone through, landing precisely on Wilfred’s elegant side, making him look as if he were covered in golden sand.

Robert drove the car over. Wilfred got up and said, “There will be enough for you.” Then he walked out.

At that moment the sun was slowly setting. Wilfred walked ahead, one hand in his pocket. Lorry followed behind him. As soon as they had left the room, Lorry unconsciously turned to look at the second floor. Just then, a dark figure passed the window.
