A Shadow's Requiem

Chapter 4 - The Journey Begins

The next day, Elinox informed the elder that his father left and he will also be leaving after completing his preparations.

Packing some spare clothes and dried meat he was ready to leave. "Now where should I start?" Elinox rethought his plans. He was having trouble choosing whether or not he will train until he is old enough to join Shrek Academy or just explore the world, it was a tough decision to make.

In the end, he decided to explore the world, being in an uncontrolled environment will be more beneficial in honing his abilities. "Star Dou forest it is, it will take a few days to reach the forest by foot so I better start moving now"

After a few hours of running, Elinox searched for a suitable place to camp for the night. Elinox looked at his shadow with a complicated expression. He felt that his shadow was a separate entity that has a mind of its own, so he decided to test out his theory. "Arise" Black humanoid copy of him rose the dark but unlike him, the shadow was wearing a white demon mask with two glowing sockets for the eyes. (it was glowing crimson red) On the center of its c.h.e.s.t was a spirit mark, a demon devouring the world.

Observing it for a while Elinox concluded that it will grow stronger as he ranks up so he unsummoned it to asses his other spirits. He activated his Endless Eyes unlike when he first used it, Elinox was able to process what he was seeing. Black strings that represent the life of all the organisms around him, the aura of the environment that resonates with him and thou faint there is this feeling of absolute control.

As I was looking around exploring my newfound power I heard a voice. "Moondrop Flower - a medicinal plant that grows under places with extreme moonlight rays" A mechanical voice informed me about the blue flower that I found interesting. " Flaws - 1) Only contains low-level healing properties 2)..." Then it listed the flaws of the flower, amazing I felt pages of information being written. Inside my mindscape, I saw a piece of paper placed in an empty shelf, this place gives me a library kind of vibe but without books, I see so this is the library of heaven's path, but why is this small and plain? Maybe it will be upgraded if I ranked up.

Behind me was a door, it looks like an exit I wonder what's on the other side. Out of curiosity, I opened the door only to find nothing, it feels empty at the same time it was brimming with endless energy. This is the blank slate of my heavenly world. I was about to leave when I saw my shadow holding a sword in the darkness. "Shadow Realm (Stage 1) - World Size: 1 square kilometer, Time Ratio: 1 day~10 days, Modifications: 5..." Modifications? what are those, it got me curious?

"The possible major changes that can be done. To make some changes picture what kind of feature you want to add to the Shadow Realm and it shall be done. The current state of the shadow realm is inhospitable to living things other than you. Things from the outside world can also be brought inside the shadow realm (1 square meter is the current maximum size of an object that can be brought inside)"

I see in that case let's make so that this place can accommodate living things, First I made land (Loam, Sand, Gravel) so things won't be floating mindlessly not that they have a mind, you know what I mean. It was extremely flat for now, the great sage told me that the changes will evolve after I ranked up. Next was water, then gas (Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, etc) different kinds of elements. Then the sky containing a sun, a moon, and stars. Lastly, I made a weather cycle (Temperature, Humidity, etc) so the world wouldn't be stagnant.

It was plain I know so I head back out to gather herbs and seeds to be replanted on the Shadow Realm, with the endless amount of pure spiritual energy contained inside I won't be surprised if these normal medicinal plants become divine and heavenly herbs. That was exhausting, I better sleep for tonight and explore my other abilities later on.
