Chapter 48: Reversal!

Concerning Si Fuqing, Feng San didn’t dare to delay and drove at top speed toward Lin’s First Hospital.

Yu Tang failed to get in the car, and her carefully purchased novels were all confiscated.

She felt utterly defeated. While bitterly ordering a rideshare, she texted Si Fuqing.

[Yu Tang]: Fuqing, let me tell you how unreasonable my Uncle Nine is. He’s so insensitive, treating me this way! You must dump him and be with me!

[Si Fuqing]: No problem, once I make enough money.

Yu Tang’s eyes brightened.

[Yu Tang]: You’re the best, Qingqing! Can I keep my books at your place? I’m afraid they’ll be confiscated again.

[Si Fuqing]: OK

Satisfied with the precise answer, Yu Tang boarded the rideshare and also headed for the hospital. She didn’t believe her Uncle Nine would dare confiscate Fuqing’s books.

Meanwhile, at the Zuo house.

Zuo Tianfeng was in the living room meeting Yu Yao.

Yu Yao’s personal visit surprised Zuo Tianfeng.

After learning the reason for Yu Yao’s visit, he frowned. “Are you asking about the two individuals who appeared at the funeral last time?”

“Yes,” Yu Yao put down his cup. “They are Masters of Yin-Yang from Eastern

Mulberry, aren’t they?”

“Indeed, they are,” Zuo Tianfeng became slightly cautious. “But what they’re here for, the Zuo family has no idea.”

“You don’t need to be concerned,” Yu Yao smiled. “I simply wish to meet these two Masters of Yin-Yang and invite them to examine a patient.”

Although Masters of Yin-Yang were not medical specialists, they had some expertise.

They would treat patients from the perspective of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements—another approach, another solution.

“I can’t control that,” Zuo Tianfeng declined. “They attended the funeral because they had some relations with the old master. Of course, if they visit the Great Xia again, I will contact you.”

Yu Yao nodded. “That would be excellent.”

Before Zuo Tianfeng could say more, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen. “Excuse me for a moment.”

Yu Yao courteously moved a bit farther away.

“What?” Zuo Tianfeng’s expression fluctuated upon hearing something from the other end, but he quickly regained his icy demeanor. “This matter has nothing to do with the Zuo family. I’m busy now. You’ll have to sort it out yourselves. That’s it.”

He promptly hung up the call.

Zuo Xianyu came downstairs, slightly puzzled. “Dad, who was that?”

“Mrs. Chen,” Zuo Tianfeng snorted. “Si Fuqing has struck Mrs. Chen’s sister with her car and fled the scene.”

“Now she’s lying in the hospital, her life hanging by a thread. Mrs. Chen asked me if we should settle this privately or publicly. What does this have to do with the Zuo family?” Zuo Tianfeng scoffed.

Zuo Xianyu frowned, “Mrs. Chen’s sister?”

“Her sister has a weak heart and comes to Lin for recuperation during the winter,” Zuo Tianfeng said dismissively. “She didn’t marry into the Chen family, so she doesn’t count as one of them.”

Zuo Xianyu nodded, “So, what does the Chen family intend to do?”

“Given the severity of the incident, the Chen family won’t let it go easily. I guess Si Fuqing is in trouble,” Zuo Tianfeng sighed, turning to Yu Yao, “A family scandal, my apologies for the inconvenience.”

Yu Yao’s expression remained neutral, “It’s fine.”

A hit-and-run was indeed a serious offense. Learning of Si Fuqing’s involvement, he felt a twinge of disappointment.

“In that case, I’ll take my leave,” Yu Yao rose. “If you hear from Eastern

Mulberry, please inform me. The Yu family will be most grateful.”

Zuo Tianfeng forced a smile, “Of course, Mr. Yu.”

Internally, he snorted in disdain. Does he even need the Yu family ifhe could connect with the Fujisan family in Eastern Mulberry?

Yu Yao entered his car after leaving the Zuo residence. He made a call, his voice icy

Apologies came from the other end before the call ended.

Yu Yao sighed, feeling a headache coming on.

The girl next to Yu Tang that day seemed incredibly familiar. Despite his efforts, he found no information about her. It was as if she had vanished.

After pondering for a moment, he decided to question Yu Tang later. Starting the car, he left the Zuo house.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.

On the seventh floor of the emergency department, doctors and nurses rushed about. The red light of the ICU remained on.

Outside the door, other members of the Chen family waited, but their faces betrayed no anxiety.

“I’ve already called the Zuo family,” Mrs. Chen said coldly. “It seems people are right to call you an ingrate. The Zuo family has abandoned you. Do you have anything to say?”

Si Fuqing, hands in pockets, ignored her and turned to the police officer. “Without evidence, you can’t arrest me, can you?”

“That’s correct; we need evidence, ” the officer nodded. “We’ll have to wait for the patient to wake up.”

Mrs. Chen shrieked, “Evidence? You want evidence? My sister lying there is the evidence!”

“Until my sister wakes up, you’re not going anywhere. If anything happens to her, not even a hundred lives will suffice!”

“Oh,” Si Fuqing adjusted her hair. “Suit yourself.”

Mrs. Chen was incensed by Si Fuqing’s indifference. “Why are you wearing a mask? Ashamed to show your face?”

“Crack! ”

Her wrist was caught. A wave of tingling shot up her arm, paralyzing her momentarily.

“I have a bad temper,” Si Fuqing finally looked at her, smiling carelessly.

“Wouldn’t mind adding one more patient. What do you think?”

“Ma’am, please calm down,” the butler hurriedly stepped forward. “Mr. Chen is on his way. Let’s not conflict with this sort of person.”

Mrs. Chen took a deep breath, not willing to back down. “I warn you—”

“Beep!”

A sudden sound interrupted her. The red light outside the ICU finally dimmed. The door swung open.

The attending physician emerged, drenched in sweat, evidently drained from the operation.

“Rest assured,” he caught his breath before speaking. “The patient is out of danger and has regained consciousness.”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Chen’s brows subtly furrowed but quickly returned to normal.

Mrs. Chen wiped her tears, “I’m truly grateful, doctor, thank you.”

The attending physician didn’t have time to respond. “Who was the young lady who called for emergency services?”

“Her,” Mrs. Chen took a step back, gesturing towards Si Fuqing. She shot her a cold glance, “Thank goodness my sister is alright. We’ll settle our accounts later. ”

With a graceful adjustment of her shawl, she continued, “I’ll go in to see my sister now.”

However, the physician bypassed Mrs. Chen and went straight to Si Fuqing, his face flushed with emotion. “Miss, we owe you a great debt. If you hadn’t administered emergency first aid to the patient, not even divine intervention could have saved her..”
