Lena hadn't been expecting her father to need anything while she was meeting with Samuel, she thought that everything that they needed to focus on for the night had been taken care of, but she had apparently been wrong to presume that.

Romeo had been the one to request her presence. He was the person that had been assigned to fill in for Clive in the main house while he was staying in the hospital with his wife until he knew that everything would be okay with her and their soon to be born son.

Romeo wasn't much younger than Clive, he was about the same height and built but his hair was more gray and he had looked a little worse for wear than the other had with thin scars on his lower arms and one most noticeable on his pointer finger where he had been cut deeply once by a knife during a fight many years ago along with a number of smaller ones on his face. Because of the many years he had spent fighting, he was also far more serious and less friendly than Clive was also well. He preferred to main the stoic and intimidating persona that he had developed over years. For him, it served his purpose well to make sure that no outsiders dare approach anyone in the family when he was around.

Romeo had felt bad about bothering the princess as he was aware that she was also busy with other matters that needed to be taken care of, but Zane had been insistent in the fact that he go fetch her for him as there was something important that they needed to discuss tonight. He didn't dare argue with his boss and did exactly as he was told.

"I do apologize again Princess, but he insisted that it couldn't wait until morning." Romeo said again as he approached Zane's office door and knocked hard on it twice.

"It's fine, if he said that it's something that cannot wait, it means that it has to be something pretty important." Lena replied, she didn't wait for her father to reply before she opened the office door and entered.

"What's wrong?" She asked as soon as she had stepped inside and closed the door behind her. Her father didn't reply at first as he seemed fixed on the letter he was holding. Lena approached the desk but didn't sit down as she waited for him to reply to her question.

"I can't say if anything is wrong, but look at this for me and tell me what you think." Zane replied after a few minutes, a sign that he had probably read over the letter a few times before he handed it over to the princess.

Lena frowned as she took it, uncertain as to what she was expecting to be reading. After reading it a mixture of emotions flashed across her face rather quickly - confusion and surprise followed by annoyance and something unreadable as she looked up from the letter to look at her father who had a similar expression his face.

"What exactly is this supposed to be?"

"I don't know myself or even if it's something legitimate that we need to worry about. It's possible that someone caught wind ahead of time that an engagement was getting ready to take place and decided to reach out and mess with things just to see what would happen or it could be legitimate." Zane replied as he folded his hands together on the desk.

"One thing that I am certain of however is that he knows nothing of this and that it would be better to keep this a secret for right now."

"You're telling me you don't think that he's playing anything here and that I shouldn't be keeping an eye out on him?" Lena replied as she pursed her lips, she wasn't as quick as her father to believe the best in others and this letter was already causing doubt to stir in her mind.

"Absolutely not. If anything, I have a hunch that it's been kept from more than just him. I'll look into of course, especially with the engagement coming up, but there is no reason to mess with anything until we know anything for certain. I just thought that you would want to see this." Zane held his hand out so that he took the letter back from his daughter. She read through it one more time before she handed it back to him.

"I am going to trust you word for this, but if anything odd is going on here at all- I am calling the whole thing off and I will be taking over without anyone at my side, is that clear?" Lena told her father as she turned to get ready to leave. Since her back was to him, she couldn't see the way that he smiled when she told him this.

"Of course. I am not going to go back on my word if everything doesn't end up working out." He told his daughter who seemed satisfied with his answer by the way that she nodded her head.

"Keep me updated then. I need to get back to Sammy-boy so that we can finish working out everything for the weeks ahead. Are you supposed to be going on any of this trips with us?" Lena asked, it was one of the few things that she hadn't taken into consideration as she had been setting everything up. Zane made a 'hmm' noise as he thought about what she had asked.

"I will go with you both when you go to get the rings fitted correctly. Aside from that, I'm not sure that my schedule this well will allow me any more freedom to do as please otherwise I would." He replied. He himself had been expecting that he would have more time to a part of the whole process, but between work and Clive being with his wife in the hospital, he couldn't afford as much free time as he had been hoping. Not that he blamed Clive of course, it was just something unexpected that had occurred.

"I'll let him know to expect you to come with us then." Lena replied she left the office. Romeo was still standing outside as she left the office. He didn't say anything as she walked out but she offered him a nod of her head as a way of saying 'thank you' for coming to let her know what her father wanted.

Recently, it seemed as though if it was not one thing, it was another that was making it difficult to keep everything going smoothly when all the princess really wanted was for everything to already be done and taken care of before it even started.
