Placing requests at the adventurer's guild was very easy, thanks to support from the system.

Unlike taking jobs there, placing a request could be done anonymously from anywhere in the world, though it would cost a bit extra.

Given that it was a troublesome collection request that few would want to take, Aura would have to fork over a hefty sum in order to get it done quickly

A gold coin per bat was about as high as Aura could go, especially since he needed a lot.

Next on Aura's list was to create a place to keep the bats and turn them into monsters.

He built about a hundred cages out of blue selenium, and hooked up a decent void force core to each, making sure that no force would leak the room they were in.

Given the laws about experimenting with monsterification, Aura would be executed should anyone find out about this.

After he finished that, his next task was more annoying.

He needed to make some origin steel, which is just ordinary steel, except refined by a master blacksmith thousands of times.

While he waited for the bats to become monsters, he was going to work some steel into origin material.

The only saving grace about making origin steel is that you can make a large quantity all at once.

It would still take a while though.

Fiona was adjusting to her new body still, despite having fully healed.

She still found the gills a bit weird, and wasn't comfortable when cleaning them

Her new eyes functioned well, maybe a little too well, and she could see just fine.

Her leg was good too, excepting the part where she had herbs growing in it

Overall her body felt great.

She was full of energy and ready to work!

Except her master was busy doing some experiments on bats or something?!

And now he was hammering the same piece of steel, reheating it and hammering it some more?!

'What's the point of modifying your slave like this if you weren't going to use any of the upgrades more than once?'

Fiona was extremely bored, since the base was enchanted to keep it clean and orderly, what the hell was a slave with free time supposed to do?

She had no tasks to do, since everything was already taken care of.

So, to pass some time, she opened a system window and began to fiddle with the music maker section.

Any creature in Ascendance had the same system access, and could do the same things, which meant that players were actually at a disadvantage, being unable to acess the sytem's advanced features without leveling up.

The music maker function allows a character to write songs and have the system play it back.

It was good for songwriters, but most people preferred to hear the music actually played by someone, since a great deal of enjoying music in Ascendance comes from the way the spirits react.

Fiona's hobby was writing songs, but not just any songs, she preferred to write hardcore death metal, because it was fun to see the system's measurements of her music.

When listening to music though, she was much more tame, only listening to ordinary rock music.

For humans, a girl who looks as delicate as her making such music would be very odd, but for demons, it was just par for the course.

Actually, Fiona could be considered tame by demon standards, which was probably why demons were mostly regarded as a barbaric race by others.

Writing music had its limits though, and she started to get bored pretty quickly.

Instead, she began to browse the virtual market.

She was a little confused to see items being sold for a bunch of currencies she'd never seen before, but given how weird the market was every day, it wasn't a big deal.

Ascendance's online market was, of course, available to NPCs as well, with the market just being a way for people to sell items over long distances.

Most people preffered purchasing from a store though, since it was cheaper, and you got to seethe items before purchase.

Supposedly, the market was created by gods as a way to make money, so they take a small portion of coin out of every transaction.

Fiona had been given access to Aura's treasury, with permission to use a small portion for herself, the idea being that she could purchase stuff that would be useful for Aura while he was occupied.

Fiona was also ordered to sell off a few rainbow crystals each month, as a way of bolstering the treasury without saturating the market.

Fiona was going to search through the market to see if she could find any cheap materials.
