Chapter 65

“A piece of trash.”

Ilya straggled the neck of an old man dressed in luxurious clothes with his signature expressionless face. His eyes were colored from elegant dark green to a bloody red, which seemed to give off a bloody scent. The man struggled in the air.

“Urgh!”

“I told you not to grow the plant beyond a certain level because it has the property of attracting Ghosts.”

“I-I was wro, keugh!”

“This is why dealing with humans is tiresome. It was a mistake to sign a contract with this inferior race.”

Crash! The man was thrown on the floor like a nuisance.

“Foolish things deserve to die.”

Duke Bernstein fell on the floor, trembling all over.

“I’m sorry, Lord Abblo. This will never happen again.”

Abblo. Duke Bernstein called him by his true name.

Ilya looked indifferently at Duke Bernstein and turned to the window. “I played the role of your dead second son, extended your wife’s life, and turned your eldest son, who was worse than a bug, into a dignified one.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Is that all? I even erased the mistakes made by your family.”

“You’re right. Lord Abblo gave me so much grace, but I made a mistake because I was foolish. This will never happen again.”

It was boring. Even when he was the archangel, he hated words such as ‘I was foolish,’ ‘I made a mistake,’ and ‘This will never happen again.’

How could the heavenly race be foolish? There could be no such thing. He believed that it didn’t exist. However, since humans are a lousy race, it was inevitable. He didn’t even expect them to do anything well in the first place.

A Ghost that should have been taken care of in the flower garden made it come to the duchy. It was a really stupid thing only humans could do. Even knowing that, he was a little angry today. Really, he wasn’t like being himself.

“It was nothing more than a game for me to sign a contract with you, who has no qualifications.”

Since he had to stay in the human world anyway, he mimicked a human being in an appropriate position through the contract. But it wasn’t fun at all to be a game. Because humans were stupid and annoying.

But these days, it was a little different. He was thinking of ruthlessly erasing everything like a daydream the moment he got tired of waiting, but something quite interesting happened.

Ilya stared at someone through the window. A soft aura flickered over his bright red eyes. His energy that had been pressing around had faded, and his red eyes turned to a dark green color.

Duke Bernstein, who was terrified that he might die, breathed a breath of relief. He was spared. For some reason, Abblo let go of his anger.

“I’ll let it go for this time, but there is no next time. Be mindful.”

“Thank you!”

Theresa and Clyde stood at the end of Ilya’s dark gaze.

* * *

Rattle, rattle. Clyde stared straight ahead with a sour expression. His front was empty. Then his gaze turned to the side.

Nod, nod. Theresa, whose stamina was at its limit, was dozing while moving her head back and forth.

Clyde apparently got into the carriage first. Then, of course, he thought Theresa would naturally sit across from him. Because they sat like that even when they were on the way to the flower garden. But what did she say?

“Can I sit next to you? I get motion sickness facing backward.”

He thought this was another way for Theresa to come close to him. It was until Theresa fell asleep peacefully as soon as she sat next to him.

Clyde murmured with a slight frown. “I’m really at a loss.”

She said she loved him but denied it. She seemed to be avoiding him but then crept closer. She seemed to be having a hard time but behaved more fearlessly than anyone else. She kept confusing him.

Then, Therese’s head turned to his shoulder. Tak! With his excellent reflexes, Clyde blocked Theresa’s face, which was about to touch his shoulder.

“Uuugh…”

Theresa’s cheek was weighed down by his large palm, and her face contorted just like earlier when her mouth became like a carp mouth.

Twitch. Clyde smiled involuntarily, but his expression quickly hardened. Honestly, Theresa almost made him laugh a few times today.

“The more I look at you, the more stupid you look.”

“Ugh…” Theresa frowned at what was uncomfortable.

Clyde unleashed his mana and wrapped it around the carriage, which was shaking excessively on the rough road. Then a much better ride was completed. Theresa’s furrowed brows were gently straightened as the rattling was noticeably reduced.

“You can be quite peaceful too.”

Her knee that appeared between the torn stockings was bruised as if she had fallen once. Even the skin on her palm was torn. However, the peaceful face that was sound asleep seemed out of place, without any sign of pain. Somehow, her appearance seemed fiercer as the days went by. Theresa was unexpectedly interesting to observe.

Anyway, the person in charge was asleep using his hand as a pillow, so he started watching her openly. When he thought about it, it had been a while since he saw Theresa’s sleeping face the other day in Professor Ilya’s lab.

She certainly looks a little different.  Even then, he felt that something had changed, but lately, her impression seemed to be uniquely different. Should he say that her expression improved? And yet, Theresa is Theresa.

In fact, it wasn’t just Theresa’s impression that changed. What changed the most was his attitude toward Theresa. What should he say about this?

“It’s become normal…”

Right. He was like an ordinary man when he was with Theresa.

-Is that so?

Clyde squeezed the holy relic and closed his eyes tightly. It seemed to be quiet recently but has come to make a problem again. It was always like this. When there was agitation in his heart, and even when the thorns that used to tear and torment his inner self slightly were removed, the demon whispered.

-You can’t be happy, Clyde.

It was clearly a mixture of contempt and jealousy.

-Stop pretending to be a disgusting human.

“I know. I know too.”

Theresa is just a human he hated terribly. After all, they were standing on opposite sides. They could never be friends or anything.

-Friend? Haha. Is that all you wanted? For something so sweet?

Clyde did not reply. He just waited for the power of the holy relic to tie the demon completely. However, the demon was persistent today.

-Release your hand, you stupid brat.

“…”

Clyde carefully withdrew his hand. And then a small head touched his shoulder. The sight of her soft black hair falling down was beautiful. At the same time, a fragrant smell spread.

When she unleashed her incredible purifying magic, he felt a feeble feeling of her magic bathing his body in ecstasy, almost losing his sanity for the moment. He couldn’t resist swearing. Had it not been for the patience he had honed all his life, he would have cupped Theresa’s cheek and overlapped their lips. He wanted to covet her endlessly without knowing that the carriage had arrived in Valhalla.

Drenched in sweet and soft sensations, all of the humanity he had barely maintained would melt and disappear, leaving nothing but the demon’s instincts. He would wake her up and seduce the confused Theresa in his arms. The pheromone of the incubus couldn’t be defeated by mere human strength. It was clear that Theresa would succumb to it.

-I’ll go find you in the dreams.

Let’s sleep together. Forever.

Chomp! An eerie sound of flesh being crushed echoed in his mouth. Clyde had bitten the flesh of his mouth and severely injured himself. The power of the holy relic was exerted more powerfully, and the purification speed was accelerated. It also healed his body wounds.

-This is not fun.

Even after the demon was gone, Clyde closed his eyes tight, gripping his hands until they turned pale. He just couldn’t look to the side.
