DanMachi: The Rise Of Death.

Chapter 4 - The Slave Trader

Bete groveled at the feet of Bell for the rest of the time that Bell and Jerome spent eating, Jerome suddenly rose to his feet and walked passed Bete and towards the counter of the building and asked the woman sitting behind it" Do you know where there is a cheap Inn that I can stay in for the night?"

The woman while smiling at Jerome exerted some her immense strength at him through her aura, seeing Jerome not even flinch as the aura began to suffocate him startled the woman, she rose from her seat and said" There is an inn not to far from here, Bell can show you the way when you leave."

Jerome smiled at her and said" Tell Freya who is clearly watching us now to leave that boy alone, she does not want to cross me, even with a level 6 like yourself on her side. Thank you for the food, it was very good, I hope you have a good evening."

Jerome threw one of the bags of gold he took from the thieves onto the counter before turning around and leaving the building. Bell went to run after him but as he left the building, Jerome had already vanished far from sight, in fact he was already on his way back towards the slums. He wanted to look at the slaves for sale in the slums and see if any of them could be trained to be of use to him going forwards.

Having a full stomach felt a little weird to Jerome as he had not eaten proper food in the void, his only sustenance was the darkness itself, which tasted like a.s.s but worse. Smiling lightly to himself he entered the entertainment district at the other end of the slums and approached a p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.e and said" I'm paying for information only, I have no need of your other services."

The small cat eared girl nodded her head and said" Depending on the information you need, the price may vary."

Jerome laughed and said" As expected, tell me where the nearest good slave trader is, I would prefer slaves with some combat experience or potential in that role and preferably female."

The girl smiled and said" There is a trader with what you need, it will be 100 Valis for the information though."

Jerome placed the money in the girl's hand, she put the money in a pouch on her skirt and said" The trader is down this street and near the base of the Ishtar Familia, you can't miss it. Its a building called the Golden Servant."

Jerome made his was towards the correct street and as he turned the corner, he made eye contact with someone from the Ishtar Familia, barely containing his d.e.s.i.r.e to kill the people present and the Goddess herself, Jerome quickly entered the Golden servant building.

Once in the building, he wad instantly greeted by a small man with a large top hat on his head, the hat was considerably bigger than his head and it seemed to be floating in position

Jerome smiled at the weirdly dressed man and said" I'm looking for a slave who has some combat experience or is willing to learn it quickly, preferably female, the race of the slave doesn't matter to me."

The man smiled and said" Come with me to the back of the store, we have a small arena were we make the slaves fight to increase their combat efficiency, the people you are looking for, can be found there."

Jerome nodded his head and followed the man into the back of the store, the 'arena', the.man spoke of wad nothing but a blood stained circle drawn in the middle of a small space. On either side of the circle where cages filled with various demi-humans, all in different states, some with extreme wounds on their bodies while some only had a few scratches. The sight in front of Jerome was one he considered relatively normal, the slave trade was a normal practice in the world while he was still alive and it was often Demi-humans who lost wars against human kingdoms that ended up as slaves.

The man stopped by the cages on the right side of the ring and said" The cages are filled with female slaves, one of my attendants will dress them up for you while we go to the office and discuss potential prices for them."

In contrast to the shit conditions the slaves where living on, the mans office was lavishly decorated, it had a stunning red and black carpet on the floor while the the chairs were made of a lovely type of wood with golden decorations. A woman walked in, she had chains around her neck, she carried in tea on a tray and out it down of the marble desk in between Jerome and the salesman.
