Chapter 27

Despite his lack of a college diploma, Director Hong was smart, humble, and sincere. He had graduated as a Beta from high school, and everyone was aware of his position. Director Hong, on the other hand, considered that he had only risen to this position because of Chairman Noh.

Chairman Noh recognized him and provided him with the opportunity to demonstrate his ability. So he worked as a loyal servant by his side for a long time, a guy who was known to be demanding. He was the only one who felt terrible for Chairman Noh since he understood his predicament better than everyone else.

“I contacted Kim Shin. I informed him about the situation you were in while being injured and how you were hospitalized.”

Chairman Noh was lying on his side on the hospital bed, curled up, and then jerked his upper body up.

“What are you calling him for?! It’s not that I’m seriously ill, I just slightly sprained my toe. What will he say if he finds out I fell on the street?”

He got angry but then asked bluntly.

“…So he’s coming?”

“Yes.”

Chairman Noh kept his mouth shut in response to Director Hong’s comment, but he couldn’t help but smile. He was born as a Beta and was a successful businessman despite being discriminated against by Alphas. However, despite achieving success that everyone would envy, his family’s difficulties did not go as planned.

Since he suffered great sadness from Alphas throughout his life, he had a great desire to see an Alpha as his offspring. Of course, that wasn’t why he married his Omega wife. He loved her. So when she died shortly after giving birth to his daughter, an Omega, he never remarried.

Instead, he attempted to realize his ambition through his daughter. He married his daughter to the best dominant Alpha he could find. Everything went so smoothly and quickly that he thought their marriage was great. On the surface, at least, the parties did not raise any big complaints about their marriage later. So, despite their loveless marriage, he assumed they would live happily ever after.

But there was a dilemma: there was no problem between the two. His daughter continued to live a wild life, meeting other Alphas even after marriage, and his son-in-law similarly ignored and disregarded his daughter. Chairman Noh chastised his daughter multiple times, but his daughter smiled and consoled him.

‘It’s okay. Everyone is like this, Dad. I just have to give birth to an Alpha like you want. Dad, you want that, right?’

He wanted it. As a result, the daughter gave birth to a dominant Alpha, just as Chairman Noh desired. Everything was going as planned, but he began to suspect that something was amiss. Chairman Noh was unable to view his only grandchild properly. Because his son-in-law forbade him from doing so. He would not allow Betas to have any say in the care and education of dominant Alphas.

He realized this when he noticed my son-in-law, who he thought was quiet and unpleasant, disregarding Chairman Noh, who was Beta. Chairman Noh realized his error only then. Marriage, for Beta Chairman Noh, was an act of building a family that trusted and relied on each other, and the child born in this manner was the person he should be able to trust the most.

Although he noticed that the fundamental objective of marriage for a dominant Alpha was simply to have a child with strong genes, he instinctively thought that his daughter and son-in-law would be different. Chairman Noh’s marriage was filled with love and pleasure. However, the two people who had a definite purpose in life stayed together for only two years before divorcing when that purpose vanished. It was because his daughter could no longer have children. Chairman Noh was taken aback, but his daughter was much different.

‘Now, I’m finally free.’

The smile on his daughter’s face made Chairman Noh feel like he had been hit on the head by that smile. What kind of parent was I to my daughter?Did I really want my daughter to give birth to an Alpha? No, it wasn’t like that. All he wanted was his daughter’s happiness.

This wish, however, was always veiled by greed, and he could not see clearly. He didn’t even try to look at my daughter properly. Chairman Noh only realized this after his daughter’s private life, which he felt was luxurious, changed.

Although it remained inexplicable to Beta’s ethical reasoning, he couldn’t criticize it. However, it was too late to try to understand his daughter. His daughter, who lived on her own, was already addicted to drugs for recreational purposes. The years flew by while she battled her addiction, but it was at this time that he communicated with his daughter the most and formed their father-daughter bond.

Although his daughter was unable to properly care for her son during this time, she loved Shin more than anybody else. So, to this day, he believes his daughter’s death was an accident. She would not have chosen to die in this manner, leaving behind her lovely kid. Chairman Noh’s maternal grandson was now the only option, but the son-in-law who took Shin denied Chairman Noh’s approach.

‘If it is for Shin and you want to pass on the property to Shin, just watch from afar. There is no benefit to having a Beta next to a dominant Alpha. If you don’t want Shin to suffer the same humiliation that you received and are still receiving as a Beta, don’t even pretend to know my son.’

Chairman Noh was furious, but he had no choice but to listen to his comments. While his only grandson was well-known and respected in the world of dominant Alphas, a Beta himself only harmed his reputation. So he was content with seeing his face now and then, but an issue came with Shin.

Shin lacked the pheromone response that appeared alongside secondary sexual traits in early adolescence. Chairman Noh was confident that if he waited, he would return to his usual dominant Alpha self, but his son-in-law was different. He simply gave up on his son after years of watching. He was able to abandon Shin because his second marriage produced another dominating Alpha son.

Chairman Noh was able to bring Shin in as a high school student as a result of this. It was a wonderful event, but it was also a sad one. This adorable child was not an Alpha. Chairman Noh was convinced that Shin was an awakened Alpha and hoped that he would be soon. So he prayed and prayed again for the defeat of his blasted son-in-law and his family.

He believed that if he could achieve that, he could pay any price, but a man’s greed was endless. As he had hoped, his grandson awakened two years later, but the person who awakened him was a recessive Omega who could not even get pregnant. Moreover, he wandered around for several years trying to find that Omega. It was pathetic. He got angry and threatened that he wouldn’t be able to give him even a penny of his property, and their relationship only worsened.

Chairman Noh was concerned that as a Beta, he might harm his grandson, so all he could do was stand back and observe, but because Shin’s partner was a recessive Omega, their connection deteriorated even worse. He later understood he had made the same error he had made with his daughter, but it was too late. However, the distance was too far for him to be friendly with him now.

Shin recently requested that he reside in a luxury villa on his own while they were working on fixing their relationship. Of course, the communication was established through Director Hong, and Chairman Noh was in a good mood recently because Kim Shin never asked for anything first. Until yesterday, when he was ashamed and slipped on the road as a result of leaving the convenience shop. But he had no idea it would end up being a blessing in disguise.

“Really, he’s coming?”

When he checked again, Director Hong nodded his head.

“Yes, he was distraught when he heard you slip on the street, very loudly in fact.”

“It was definitely loud. So, when is he coming?”

“He will arrive soon. When he arrives, please make sure to have a proper conversation with your grandson.”

Hmph, Chairman Noh snorted but ran his hand through his hair to straighten it out.

“What do I have to talk about with him? Anyway, I heard the military general contacted us last time, so what happened? I heard his son and Shin fought. ”

“Yes, with a dominant Alpha Cho Sungkyun. Shin was called by the police for investigation but they concluded that there weren’t any problems. ”

“So?”

When Chairman Noh asked sharply, Director Hong calmly continued his conversation.

“The military general has written to resign from his position.”

“Well, it doesn’t matter anyway. How dare he bother our Shin and make a fuss about something that could have been resolved without any problem? Show them how it’s done. Are they even from a dominant Alpha family? They should know that they wouldn’t be able to climb any further. Our Shin is an awakened dominant Alpha so how dare they say whatever they can about him? We should teach them a proper lesson by stepping on their house.”

“I think we should hold off from doing so.”

“Why?”

“Kim Shin said he wanted to handle it himself.”

Chairman Noh’s clown wriggled with joy for his grandson who was raised properly.

“If he wants to do it, let him.”

“Yes.”

“If he has a debt to pay off, tell him to reimburse them properly so that he never has to pay them again..”

“Chairman, when you meet Kim Shin, please advise him directly on this matter.”

“No. I will look like a hag.”

Chairman Noh gave instructions to Director Hong, citing clear reasons.

“You do it.”

“…Yes.”

“When Shin comes…oof, it hurts a lot…”

As soon as there was a knock on the door, Chairman Noh hurriedly lay down on the bed and closed his eyes. At the same time, the door opened and Kim Shin came in.

“Ah, are you here?”

Director Hong barely looked away in embarrassment from Chairman Noh, who had been fine just a moment ago. Kim Shin slightly bowed his head and looked down at his grandfather.

“Where is he hurting?”

“Well, on his bone.”

Kim Shin scanned Chairman Noh’s body with his eyes. After scanning slowly and thoroughly, he asked indifferently.

“He doesn’t need a cast, right?”

Chairman Noh’s shoulders twitched slightly. Director Hong answered calmly, keeping a smile on his face.

“Fortunately, his bone density is high, so he doesn’t need to wear a cast.”

“I heard he was seriously injured?”

“… Probably his heart?”

Kim Shin looked at the two people in turn for a moment and then turned as if to leave. Director Hong was embarrassed and quickly called him.

“Chairman, he’ll be up soon, so I think it will be better to greet him and leave.”

“If he talks to me, his heart will be in more pain.”

“It can’t be. Do you know how much Chairman Noh cares about you, Kim Shin?”

“I know.”
