Viscount Arga Perelman was still searching for his daughter in the North.

The North was quite far from the Casseus Dukedom. In addition, the land was wide and large. Thus, the density was low, which would take him a long time to move.

There were a lot of girls within their nineteen-year-olds on the list. However, only half were found.

His expression was much darker than usual. In fact, he has become like this ever since he received Lise’s letter a few days ago.

The letter’s contents keep hovering in his mind.

[There was a man who tried to scam me while trying to steal my hair and nails. They said that I am their child but I’m certainly not theirs.

—Lise Estelle.]

It wasn’t that Arga didn’t think about it thoroughly. Rather, as Lise has said, there were many people who tried to swindle his wealth by trying to forge his daughter’s information.

He has been looking for his daughter for 18 years and has experienced countless manipulations.

However, whenever he experienced such a thing, Arga felt frustrated to the point he wanted to cry.

There were various cases and situations that made him lose trust in humans and thus become more cold-hearted.

“What a fool.”

He clicked his tongue and shook his head.

Lise was only eighteen.

It must have been a pretty bitter experience for the young girl.

“I can’t believe she was swindled like that.”

He felt heartbroken as if he was hit by a person. It bothered him nearly every day.

He couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable and get off to his destination in a distant village.

Then, a worker from the North branch of the Perelman’s merchant approached.

“My Lord.” He greeted Arga politely and handed him a letter. “This is a letter from the Duchy.”

“Again?”

The letter with Lise’s name on it was very short.

It hasn’t been long since the last letter arrived. Arga opened the letter because it was urgent.

[I have an unavoidable situation. Please be my godfather.

—Lise Estelle]

Arga wrote the reply quickly.

[If you’re that desperate, then why not.

—Godfather.]

“It’s urgent, so send it using a pigeon.”

After handing out a note-like letter to the branch man, he told the servants.

“We’re going back.”

“…yes?”

The servants opened their eyes wide with surprise.

“But we still have half the schedule…”

“I don’t really want to go back either.” Arga replied bluntly. “But something very unfortunate happened to my goddaughter.”

“Did you have a goddaughter?”

“We can come here again next time but if I miss this time, I can’t do it forever.”

“Wait a minute, Sir…”

“If I weren’t a godfather, I’d ignore her and do my job.”

The servants exchanged embarrassing looks and couldn’t say anything.

“I’m very disturbed right now, so why don’t we move?”

Arga got back on the carriage and grumbled.

“They dare to scam her? Worst human being…”

He glanced at the horseman.

“Hurry up.”

“Aaron succeeded in blooming 28 Vercalia flowers.”

I said to Diel with a bright smile. “Then I’ll add ten more. I’ll give you 32 seeds in total.”

“You’re crazy. Please add one more person to assist him. He’s having a hard time because he couldn’t even sleep.”

“No.”

Once, I took care of more than 500 patients, not 50 Vercalia flowers. It was much more difficult and had to be taken care of more carefully.

I even gave him enough water and fertilizer, so it was very merciful.

“Take the 28 flowers and dry them well. Then put them in a glass bottle.”

“Sure.”

“Also… The greenhouse must be well managed.”

“Huh?”

“I’m going to hire a bunch of people.”

“Ah!”

Daniel left the room while whistling excitedly.

I was left alone and lost in thought.

We’re planning something big enough for Aaron to get in.

‘I think ‘he’ is in a hurry to get Erhan’s back.’

It would be more urgent to see Erhan Casseus who has become strong and agile.

‘I figured out the ingredients of the snack. Noodles would have been the best, but… it’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this.’

I thought things could be done easily when I found out that Frederick was feeding Erhan some peculiar snacks.

But I haven’t noticed the ingredients even after 5 years. I was disappointed in myself.

A knocking sound was heard from the large glass window. When I turned around, a pigeon was twisting the window with its beak.

A pigeon?

Pigeons can only deliver very short letters urgently. So far, I have only received a short message from Erhan when he was still in Irvia.

I quickly opened the window, wondering who was writing an urgent message to me.

I opened a note tied to its ankle and found Ferelman’s handwriting. The word “Godfather” was written.

“Why is this so urgent…”

Anyway, now I have a godfather.

‘Nothing will change though.’

Perelman will continue to search for his daughter and I will continue to work under him.

Perelman, who left far to the north, will not return until a few months later.

‘Maybe that’s why he sent the pigeon. He couldn’t come before I reached my adulthood.’

I quickly convinced myself, wrote down [Thank you], and sent the pigeon back.

I heard a knock as I was closing the window.

“Yes, come in.”

It was the Duchess who came into my room as soon as the pigeon flew away again.

The maid who came in with her set the tea food herself on a big tray.

“Oh… Madam, if you had called for me, I would have gone to you myself.”

The table in my room was filled with fragrant tea and colorful snacks.

“You’ve been working so hard…”

“I’m not working that hard.”

The Duchess sat gracefully and said, “Erhan has been working a lot lately. Thanks to you, I’m not occupied these days.”

I sat across from her and picked up a warm cup of tea.

When the maid left, the Duchess took a breath and continued, “He can do anything but listen to his mother… hah…”

“I guess he’s a very fast learner.”

“He seems to have learned a lot of things in Irvia.”

“Thanks to him, the Casseus estate will remain calm.”

“These days I’ve been nervous to hear that there’s a rebellion, and I’m glad Erhan’s got a good balance as an heir.”

“Pardon me?”

“It’s just a rumor. The majority say it may be a false rumor because the Prince has been out of the capital for a long time.”

It’s not a rumor.

She continued, “The Crown Prince has come back from the war, so who will join the rebellion troops if that is the case?”

‘Your brother, dear Duchess.’

I only answered in my head.

“Anyway…”

The Duchess hesitated for a moment and lowered her eyes. “I think you’re familiar with rumors going around the city. I wanted to welcome you as my adopted daughter, but unfortunately, Erhan strongly opposed it.”

“…I wouldn’t have dared to accept it.”

Since she brought up the story first, I answered honestly, “I don’t think I can live well with adoptive parents. Besides, I’m a commoner and I don’t want to be an aristocrat.”

“But…”

The Duchess tried to say something but realized that the conclusion had been decided anyway.

“So, it’s hard to be your godmother, but… can I be your godmother?”

“Actually… I already have a godfather.”

“My my! Since when?”

The Duchess’ eyes grew bigger and her mouth opened wide.

“It is Sir Perelman, it hasn’t been that long though.”

“My Goodness.”

Her black shimmering eyes began to flash with regret and frustration.

I think her eyes portrayed a lot about her feelings every time she reacted to me.

“That rascal, he got ahead of me…”

“Well, I’m not an aristocrat, so it doesn’t mean much.”

“What do you mean?” The Duchess shook and banged the table. “Now even if I somehow manage to persuade Eran, I have to get permission from Perelman to adopt you.”

“Oh my…”

It’s not going to happen anyway, so I reacted calmly.

“So he is now your godfather? What a shameless man…”

The Duchess gritted her teeth. “I’m a step behind this time, but we’ll see.”

I think Erhan looks a bit like his mother.
