Douluo Dalu: Legend Of Xiao Yan

Chapter 88 - 88: Mentality

After a half an hour cold shower. Xiao Yan walked into the living room wearing only a white tank top and black shorts.

Drying his hair with a towel, he looked around to see that, no one was around.

"Strange, where are Tang San, his parents, and Xiao Wu? I thought they slept in my room?" Xiao Yan shrugged his shoulders and went around the living room towards the kitchen, making him some coffee.

Stirring around his ceramic cup filled coffee and cream, with a couple cups of sugar, Xiao Yan pondered on his next moves for the future.

His strength, physically, and durability equals to that of a Spirit Sage but his overall combat prowess could only equal a Spirit Emperor.

His powerful strength and body could only hold off a Spirit Sage if they don't use their Spirit Avatar. The only saving grace for him, and Tang San, when fighting Spirit Sages are their unorthodox killing techniques. They could only last in a battle against them in secret but in the open? Their lambs waiting to be killed.

Xiao Yan let out a sigh.

'I have to focus on my spirit power cultivation right now. My slow cultivation is the only thing holding me back from being overpowered as fuċk but goddammit...' The Heavy Xuan Ruler appeared by his side, his three spirit rings circling around his big black edgeless sword.

"Why the fuċk are you torturing me!?" If his hands weren't busy stirring his coffee, he would have hold his head in frustration.

This spirit of his, this god forsaking spirit of his, has been leeching off of him for the last six, seven since his birthday would come in a couple of months later on, years!

He would have already been at the same cultivation level as Xun Er right now if it weren't for his spirit almost suċkɨnġ him dry every minute of his waking.

Though truthfully he would be at a couple more ranks above himself right now if he weren't so adamant in solidifying his foundation and increasing the quality of his spirit power.

Taking the spoon out of the cup, Xiao Yan gently grabbed the handle of cup and moved to sit on the couch. Taking a sniff of the bitter and sweet aroma of the coffee, he then took some sips of it.

Though complaining as much as he could, there's no denying his current achievements are pretty great. Spirit Elder rank 36, spiritual power tier 6th, alchemist peak rank 4, already having ten thousand year old spirit rings and a second, maybe, spirit in his arsenal. All by the age of twelve, soon turning thirteen.

"Let's see... Grandmaster and the others would probably be back by almost a week later, then next would be the incident of fatty getting his ȧss kicked by a pedo, Xiao Wu taking care of that pedo, we then get registered by Grandmaster into a Spirit Arena in Suotuo Ciry to pay off our debt or something, which I could pay it off but I'm not some rich sugar daddy for them to always depend upon." Xiao Yan pauses as he took another sip of calming coffee. Truthfully he'd prefer tea to calm him down, or rum, but with how little of sleep he got last he did need coffee.

"Grandmaster would then get us to cosplay to hide our identities; due to our monstrous talents. We'll fight till we get silver fighter badges or probably taking it to gold rank; by my estimation will take about a couple months more than the original timeline took."

That honestly stumped Xiao Yan. He doesn't really care anymore of the plot, especially with how messed up it already is, but he does care about the order of time the story moves.

The buŧŧerfly effect has already created a tornado, he doesn't want to upgrade it to a thunderstorm.

'It'll probably be just fine. As long as that Emperor Team comes here the plot would advance as natural.'

*Sip~* .

"..."

"Oi, when are you going to stop ignoring us?" Disembodied voices resounded in the entire room.

Xiao Yan stopped sipping his coffee and stared blandly at the numerous bloodied figures in front of him, ones who are very familiar to him.

Sitting in front of him were Jia Lie Bi, Ao Ba Ling, Jia Lie Bu, Jia Lie Mo and many other members of the Jia Lie Clan; of which he all had slain.

Although they retained their human like figures of what they once were, their ghost like appearances glowing in a eerie green light proved that they were no longer human.

"So, are you just going to be quiet?" Jia Lie Bi mockingly said, half nȧkėd as he had died with a clear cut between starting from his head to his crotch.

"Ignore us? Like we're insects? Just like beating up my dear innocent son!?" Ao Ba Ling spat out blood at the strangely silent Xiao Yan.

"We were just living our lives! My must you kill us, you monster!?" The elder, Jia Lie Bu, shouted indignantly; as wisps of green flames flickered around him with the same cut as Jia Lie Bi started gushing out blood.

"That's right!"

"You monster!"

"Murderer!"

"Killer!"

Jia Lie Mo's angry filled eyes stared straight at Xiao Yan's, a clear bleeding cut around his neck, and said.

"You must feel really good about yourself huh? Killing us, just because you were paranoid that we would ruin your life and cause trouble to your friends and loved ones. Well, congratulations!" He mockingly clapped. "You've crippled an entire clan, a family, till they eventually die out. All because of your, "For the greater good shit." how does it feel? Being a hero?"

"..." Xiao Yan didn't say anything. He merely stared at them with a unreadable expression for a few moments before closing his eyes and continuing to take a sip at his coffee.

This action immediately angered the ghosts of the Jia Lie Clan members. They continued insulting, mocking, Xiao Yan for everything that his done.

Killer. Murderer. Monster. Bastard. Faker. Demon. Insect.

As time passes, the more louder and more insults are thrown at Xiao Yan's face. But he continued sipping his coffee in silence.

"... Are you done with your pitiful act?" Finally, as Xiao Yan finishes his drink and put it down on the plate, he 'asked' the ghosts of the people he slain with a deep and strong tone of voice.

Strangely, as he spoke those words, the ghosts had immediately gone quite.

Xiao Yan opened his eyes, the once human irises had turned into crimson slits with sparks of silver lightning lit up around his pupils.

"There are a lot of things that I really don't give a damn in this life. One is spirit hall, there is no reason for me to care for a cult that made its own member get rȧpėd remain in this world. Two," He stood up, his six feet tall height completely dwarfing the ghost Jia Lie Clan. His inhumane intimidating eyes looked at each and every ghosts in their eyes. "people who get in my way. I fully understand now. My morality needs, no, has to change if I want to get stronger. That once vow of mine, "turning everything into ashes for the sake of my friends", I take that back."

"This is my life, my fate, my destiny, and my karma. If I burn something, it's on me. If I kill someone, then it's on me. If I make an enemy of the entire world, it's on me. I don't make any justifications of my actions."

Unknown to Xiao Yan, his Heavy Xuan Ruler had appeared floating behind him with its three mesmerizing powerful spirit rings and started glowing, both the edgeless sword and spirit rings lit up in three different colors; green, red and white.

Suddenly the Heavy Xuan Ruler began shifting out of reality and the image of the Heavenly Perpetual Flame Sword began appearing alongside with it.

The two different swords were stuck together, both phasing in and out of reality, while glowing in a multi-triple colored lights.

A flash of white appeared between the two swords and a vague figure of a sword appeared, while the other swords had unexpectedly disappeared.

It looked like a one-edged broadsword with intricate incomprehensible symbols glowing around from its edge tip to around the sword's end handle.

The sword gave an awe inspiring, ancient and domineering aura that could make any mortal to submit and prostrate to it's grandeur.

But all of that, the strange circumstances of the two swords and the appearance of a new one, disappeared moments later on.

"Well then," Xiao Yan's right arm skin turned into scales and his hand into sharp obsidian claws. "I'll be getting rid of you lot. If I were to have any guilty demons clinging to me, it should be those of innocents and ones I know of I killed."

"W-Wait! L-Let's talk about this--" Jia Lie Bi and the other Jia Lie Clan members pleas were cut off, literally, by the swipe of Xiao Yan's Fire Dragon King's Claw.

The Jia Lie ghosts was no more.

Xiao Yan slowly let out a breath out, his Fire Dragon King transformation undone, and his emotions calming down.

'Breath in, and exhale.'

He then took a seat back down and closed his eyes, ignoring how his shoulders had tensed and right arm trembled uncontrollably while ignorant of the bubble like barrier surrounding the entire room.

Flame Emperor watches Xiao Yan in the latter's spiritual sea, now taking the image of an ocean of green flames, and rubbed his chin. His forehead sweat dropped.

"Instead of ignoring the deaths he caused, he faced it and moved on. I had done this as a test to see if he got traumatized or got PTSD for initiating a genocide and it looks like he didn't, sort of, thankfully he pushed on forward." Flame Emperor narrowed his eyes, a slight fear appeared within his centuries old experience.

"But to think, in that moment of his emotions rising he had momentarily got his first spirit and its second awakening to merged together and achieved its final form, third spirit awakening(bankai)!"

He let out a sigh as he shook his head.

"Oh well, it was just temporary anyway. What matters is that I hope he continues with this mentality of his, or he would be buried by the responsibilities and burdens he makes in the future."
