The title of the book is Hero of Lichfrost. I implore everyone to leave a review if you can, even if you don't buy it. The more reviews I get, the more visible the book becomes and the better it will do. This is my full time job, so every little bit helps :)

Thanks again for all the support you guys have shown me through the process of writing Fate up until now. It means a lot to me ^.^

But enough about me. Here's a new chapter!

~

Before Eric logged in, he quickly opened the Strife client. Although he was itching to start creating new skills, he couldn't shirk his duty as squad commander, not on his first day at least. Vaguely recalling Astrid, Aria, and Turk's usernames, Eric sent the three of them friend requests, forming a new room where they could discuss matters related to the squad. Fortunately, it appeared that all three of them had actually logged out of Fate at some point, as the friend requests disappeared only a minute later, replaced by three new names on his friend list. Inviting them to the room, Eric entered the chat himself, ready for the first meeting of what would hopefully become a legendary squad.

Kyp has joined the room.

Turk has joined the room

Astrid has joined the room

Glad you could all make it. Aria, Turk, meet Astrid. Astrid, meet Aria and Turk. Astrid came 5th in the tournament. She's the archer who lost to Hydrus.

You're the one who got rewarded along with Jun Shinzir after the Battle of Lichfrost, correct?

Yup! Although I didn't really do anything, Jun did all the work. I just followed him and shot arrows at goblins.

Oh! You're that Astrid! I really wanted to talk to you after the battle. But I kinda died in the middle… But you're an inspiration! You're the strongest girl I've met so far!

Thanks! Not sure I deserve it, but I'm doing my best to get stronger :)

Astrid's pretty damn strong. She was actually my first friend in Fate ^.^

Yup! We met in the tutorial where Kyp tried to kill me.

Yeah… It was scary, he came at me with a sword. I couldn't stop him no matter how hard I tried.

Lies and slander. She came at me. I almost got my head cut off in front of Firin.

:P

So you guys know about me. What about you? How did you guys meet Kyp? And what are your skills?

Turk and Aria were both at the battle as well. Aria's a mage who specializes in water magic. Turk is a tank that made the top 32. He might be the best pure tank in the entire Lunbrengur Region.

I met Kyp when he pushed me off a cliff. I nearly fell to my death.

More lies. We both fell, and it was a tiny boulder.

Definitely a cliff, right, Turk?

Definitely.

lol

But yes. We met Kyp near Lichfrost Forest. We were actually the ones who discovered the goblin base. Although Grimarok found us and killed us as we tried to retreat…

He was a tough opponent. Plus we were only level 7 or 8 at the time.

As to our skills. Like Kyp said, I'm a tank. I rely on a sword and shield to suppress enemies while Aria bombards them with magic. Recently I've been learning some more offensive skills to allow me to attack when Aria is dealing with long range enemies.

I'm a mage specializing in water magic. I've also been learning some healing spells and I know a few supportive spells as well.

Well, you guys already know what I do. But I'm an archer who mostly uses long range skills to deal as much damage as possible. I'm pretty new to MMOs, but I'm doing my best to learn some earth and water magic to help with my archery.

You're new to MMOs and you're already this strong? Do you have prior experience with archery irl?

Nope! I'm pretty average in real life. I only picked up a bow for the first time in the synchronization test. But I've been practicing every day since I did! If I don't have time to jump in game, I still make sure to use the synchro room to practice a few dozen shots.

That's pretty amazing honestly. Good job Astrid.

Anyways, you all know about me. But I'm Kyp. You can also call me Eric. I'm a mage/swordsman hybrid who relies on Wind Magic and quick swordplay to suppress foes from various distances. Glad to meet you all!

Eric?

?

Sorry, wrong chat lol. Thanks for inviting us, Kyp!

You said we have a fifth member as well?

Yeah. Her name is Lark. She's an NPC spearwoman from Tonbura.

An NPC? Are you sure about this?

It was Alistair's request. I tested her skills personally. She's really strong. I wasn't able to reach her with my sword at all even after nearly half an hour of sparring against her. Plus she's young, so she's only going to get stronger.

If you're sure. But if we wipe like we did back in Lichfrost, then she's going to be dead forever.

Now then. I called you all here so that we could introduce ourselves, and also so that we could plan for how to meet up. Are all of you able to make it to Tonbura tomorrow morning?

Tomorrow morning real time?

Yeah. Around 9am irl. So 6 o'clock in game. I don't wake up before 830.

That's a little early…

I can make it. Aria likes to sleep in though.

We could also push it back to the afternoon. Say, 3pm? So 6am-ish in game?

That works!

Yeah, Aria and I can make it for then.

Sounds good. Once you're all here we can decide on our first target.

I thought that we were still waiting on the rewards to arrive? That's what our militia captain told us.

That's what I heard too.

Being a Knight of Crowsea has its advantages. Alistair wants us to succeed, so he's paying our portion from his personal coffers. He can't afford to do that for everyone though, so like I said. Keep it on the down low.

Will do!

Sure. And yeah, I don't mind if you use my or Aria's money. Just make sure not to spend too much.

:zippedmouthemoji:

I'm also cool with you getting my supplies with my money. I trust you.

Thanks. So everyone's okay with the plan? We meet up in Tonbura tomorrow at 3pm real time?

Yup!

Sounds good

I'll be there!

Alright. Then I'll see you all then.

Turk has disconnected

Aria has disconnected

Astrid has disconnected

You have disconnected from the chat

Leaving the Strife chat, Eric lay motionless upon the couch for a moment as he collected his thoughts. First, brush up on spellcrafting theory at Lucy's, then start trying to make a spell. And I suppose hitting up the general store now wouldn't be a bad idea, he decided. Raising his arm above his head, he yelled out, "Fate Start!" the familiar rainbow shards surrounding him as he was whisked once more into the world of Nasvencia.
