Chapter 34: A Long Journey over the Mountains

He cleaned the rabbit at the spring. It was impossible for Chen B-Dog to bring a 4-kilogram rabbit along his journey. He eliminated the internal organs and the bones and only kept some fats and rabbit meat. Then he used the rabbit skin to pack the remaining and put them into his bag. It was much lighter and more convenient.

Next, he cleaned the tent and then the breakfast was almost ready.

The camera aimed at the steaming hot black pot. The audience looked at the boiling fish soup and the fish meat which would be rolled from time to time. Besides, the hazel mushroom which looked like an umbrella was mixed in between. It was a mouthwatering soup indeed.

“Lord B-Dog, the fish meat is already overcooked.”

“Quickly taste it. I can even smell it over my screen.”

Chen B-Dog could not bear it anymore and took a long breath. He smiled and said, “In the wild, there is no dough stick or bread and no soybean milk or fresh milk for the breakfast. But it is pretty good to have a pot of spring water fish soup. Let me taste it.”

He ate a piece of fish meat and tasted the fish soup. Then, he could feel his entire intestines moistened. He smiled and said with wagging head, “A bowl of soup a day is better than a good prescription. The old saying is honest and never cheats.”

“In South China, drinking soup is a very popular culture. The varieties of soup have been elevated to the level of art. For instance, bone soup, fish soup, winter melon soup and egg soup. Among all food we consume, soup is nutritious and the easy to digest. According to a survey conducted by the United States nutritionists, among 60 thousands of people who undergo the nutritional survey, the ones with the most nutrition were people who often drink soups.”

“The clear soup can nourish the body and act as a tonic. Generally, the bony foods are a good calcium supplement. It is good to drink it every day. It helps to enhance the immune system and is easy to absorb thus helping to replenish nutrients and water. The effects can lead to a more energetic lifestyle!”

However, he felt a little of regret, “This fish soup is still missing something. As the saying goes, one cannot make bricks without straw. It is difficult to enhance the taste of fish soup with the salt alone. It causes imperfection in this pot of cold water fish. Luckily, the delicate meat texture, the boiling soup and the fresh hazel mushroom taste have mixed together. The taste might be a little less but it is more natural.”

Under the murmurs of discontent from millions of audience, B-Dog pretended to be serious and rated his dishes, “I would rate it with 75 marks. There is still room for improvement.”

After eating a simple fish soup meal, he cleaned the tent and continued his journey after putting out the fire. The surroundings were full of boundless mountains, trees and snow. It was pretty depressing looking at them. Chen B-Dog took a breath and pulled himself together. He encouraged the audience, “Friends, the road ahead is long and full of challenges. There is nothing else but the mountains. It seems like the end would never come. Under such circumstances, it is easy to lose confidence in the survival process. You have to motivate yourself at this time. Think about someone who is waiting for you at home. The Red Army has taken the long march and walked for twenty five thousand miles. And I am only walking three hundred kilometers across the Xingan ridge. There is nothing scary about it.”

“Keep walking. The more you walk, the closer you are to the destination.”

“Whether you are the newly joined audience or my regular visitors, welcome to my live broadcast room. My name is Chen B-Dog and this is the live broadcast of the self-made program “The Godlike Gourmet of the Wild”. Ever since yesterday, I have entered the biggest primitive jungle in China, DXAL on my own. Next I will continue to demonstrate how to survive happily in some worst places on the earth. In my show, you can find everything like hunting, adventure, food, surviving, pretty view, treasure hunting and many more. As long as you come in, you will not regret.”

“Excellent. The way Lord B-Dog pretends to act cool is really convincing.”

“Lord B-Dog is getting more and more handsome. Frankly, you look like a superstar now.”

“Lord B-Dog is already a superstar. The song “An Ordinary Path” has hit number one on the list. Even the princess has clicked ‘like’.”

“The princess liked the song of anchor? Are you serious?”

“According to informal statistics, most of the female anchors in Panda are being requested to sing “An Ordinary Path” after Lord B-Dog ended his live broadcast yesterday night. I am wondering whether the other platforms are affected.”

Actually, you would spend most of the time on the road for a wild live broadcast. In order not to let the show became boring, Chen B-Dog had to talk non-stop. Sometimes he chatted with the audience. Sometimes he introduced the rare animals and plants, and sometimes he had to explain the scenery and history.

“DXAL was recognized as the Xianbei Mount. It is one of the birthplaces of Chinese ancient civilization. It is known as the China’s “Green Treasure Vault” and “An emerald on the crown of a rooster”. Besides of the primitive jungles, DXAL has the most beautiful sceneries you have never seen!

For example, the aurora we are lucky to see last night was a natural astronomical spectacle.

It has no fixed pattern and colors. The colors are mostly green, white, yellow and blue. But sometimes it will display bright color of red and purple. It is graceful and mysterious.”

The auroras could be seen in the cold winter night and high latitude lands only. To the China audience, if one had the chance to view the entire aurora clearly, you could brag to friends for a year long.

Here, one could find the mountains, the colorful natural sceneries, and the reputed prettiest wetland, Nanweng River.

The wetlands were full of wild forest scenery. The mountains displayed a green layer whilst a wide stretch of green forests were spread in front. The light of rivers and lakes were shaded among the green. The atmosphere was quiet and the air was fresh. It was such a natural, beautiful, simple and uninhibited and had the unique scenery of borderland. Besides, it had a mother river of the northeast people situated at the border of China and Russia, and that was Heilongjiang.

Chen B-Dog crossed another mountain and all of sudden, he felt relaxed. With good timing, Dog Egg zoomed out the lens to show the view.

Meanwhile, the audience in the live broadcast room was getting excited again, “It is so beautiful!”

“Incredible!”

“It is the heaven on the earth.”

“The amazing road bends!”

“Wow, Lord B-Dog can you fix the lens for a while. I want to screenshot the view to be my desktop wallpaper.”

Chen B-Dog would definitely agree to this little request. He also expressed his amazement, “It should be the tributary of the south part of Argun River, originating from West DXAL. It is one of the two major headstreams of the Northeast’s mother river, Heilongjiang. Flowing through the numerous bends and it finally reaches Heilongjiang. DXAL has a huge surface water capacity. It consists of Gan River, Duobukur River, Naduli River, Huma River, Emu’er River and other more than 20 rivers. Finally they infuse into the mother river at the borderland, Heilongjiang. And it shows us that we have finally reached the hinterland of the forest.”

“There is a primitive stone forest in front and I can see the green forests as well. It should have a lot of food resources. Besides, in the stone forest area, it is easy to find a place to set up the tent. Let me take a break and drink some water first. I am going to follow this ridge and take a look at the primitive stone forest.”

As the saying goes, so near yet so far.

That stone forest seemed to be near, but it was not easy to get there.

He opened the skill panel. Even though he was at LV 6 for the skill “Step on Snow without Trace” but he still felt not fast enough. Luckily, this was an Grade S skill. It was worth using the skill points. Adding 2 points would reach LV7, 4 skill points for LV8 and 8 points for LV9. After checking the remaining points he had, he acted without hesitation and went to the maximum level.

He wanted to know the effects and outcome when the Grade S skill reached the maximum level.

The moment when “Step on Snow without Trace” was leveled up to LV9, he felt a violent shudder, as if he got an electric shock. By instinct, he sat down with his legs crossed with his forehead was dripping with perspiration.
