Chapter 8: “Yu He, our family doesn’t have that many rules.”

Yu He flipped through the menu from beginning to end and didn’t see any spicy dishes. Looking at Li Jing’s expression, he felt that Fu Yunzheng was just bluffing him and hesitated, “But…there’s no spicy dish on this menu.”

Fu Yunzheng remained calm and said, “My illness is hard to cure, and they won’t let me eat spicy food.”

Yu He: “…”

All the servants present: “…”

“Can’t you eat spicy food when you’re sick?” Yu He was a little sceptical. A lumbar spine injury is theoretically an external injury, so what does it have to do with eating spicy food?

When Fu Yunzheng was very young, he knew that when someone tells a lie, they need to tell a hundred more lies to cover it up. Unfortunately, he had already spoken the first lie without thinking, and once the bow was drawn, the arrow had to be shot. He could only continue to make up more lies.

Fu Yunzheng began to shift the blame onto other things, saying, “The doctors couldn’t heal my leg, so they had to make it seem like they were good at treating these small details.”

Yu He believed him.

Indeed, no matter what illness you go to the doctor for, doctors will habitually advise you to avoid difficult-to-digest foods such as greasy, spicy, raw, cold, and seafood.

In the case of an injury, it also involves the healing of wounds. Although the skin wounds have healed, the bone and bone marrow injuries have not yet healed. Sitting in a wheelchair, Fu Yunzheng’s intestinal movements have correspondingly weakened, so there was no problem with the doctor’s advice.

“Well, then don’t order it,” said Yu He, closing the menu and saying to Aunt Zhou, “Please add some braised prawns for me.”

“You order,” Fu Yunzheng unconsciously added a commanding tone, and quickly withdrew his dignified manner, speaking in a relaxed tone, “I’ll just have some of yours.”

Yu He: “…”

Although it was only a short moment of the domineering display, Yu He was overwhelmed by the fleeting majesty, as if someone had hit him with a hammer in his chest.

Yu He suggested, “Then how about boiled beef slices?”

But Fu Yunzheng remained silent, quietly watching him.

Although they were sitting in a spacious and bright luxurious restaurant, it felt like Yu He was in an interrogation room at the police station.

The person opposite him was far more patient than Yu He, simply staring at him without urging him on, waiting for Yu He to tell the truth on his own.

Under Fu Yunzheng’s invisible interrogation, Yu He swallowed and said, “And also Sichuan-style spicy chicken and spicy shrimp.”

After getting the answer, Fu Yunzheng nodded in satisfaction and ordered the kitchen, “Go ahead and prepare it.”

Aunt Zhou asked if there were any food restrictions for Yu He, and Yu He answered truthfully, “I don’t eat carrots.”

“What about scallions (onions), garlic, and cilantro (coriander)?” Aunt Zhou asked.

Yuhu said, “I can eat all of them.”

Fu Yunzheng paused his chopsticks, and Yu He quickly corrected himself and said, “I don’t eat the taste of onions, I only eat cooked garlic, not raw, and I don’t eat cilantro.”

Fu Yunzheng glanced at Yu He with slight surprise.

Thinking that Fu Yunzheng didn’t understand what ‘only eating for taste’ meant, Yu He was about to explain further.

Unexpectedly, Aunt Zhou understood and said, “You can use scallions to enhance the flavor, but you can’t have scallion leaves in the dish, right?”

Yu He wasn’t that picky and said, “It’s okay if they appear, I can just pick them out myself.”

Aunt Zhou laughed and said, “No need to trouble yourself, when the kitchen stir-fries the dish, the fragrance of the scallions will come out, and we can just remove the scallions. Mr Fu’s dishes are made the same way, it’s not a problem.”

This time it was Yu He’s turn to be surprised.

After observing the dishes on the table again, it was noticed that there was no green onion at all. Could it be that Fu Yunzheng was like himself, able to tolerate the flavor of green onion but not eat it?

This was really a coincidence.

Fifteen minutes later, the three Sichuan dishes were served on the table. Fu Yunzheng seemed to know that it was uncomfortable for Yu He to eat with the servants standing nearby. Not only did he proactively ask them to leave, but he also said that if Yu He felt uncomfortable sitting with him, he could go back to his room to eat.

As Li Jing turned to leave, her footsteps hesitated. She thought that it was rude and disrespectful to bring the food upstairs to eat.

After hearing this, Yu He thought the same way. He felt that leaving the host in the dining room and letting the guest eat alone in the bedroom was not a normal practice, and he looked at Fu Yunzheng and said, “Isn’t this inappropriate?”

Fu Yunzheng didn’t care and asked back, “What’s wrong with it?”

Yu He thought about many reasons that he couldn’t express: his relationship with Fu Yunzheng, his current status, and what Li Jing had told him.

But in the end, Yu He only said, “The bedroom is a place for sleeping.”

Fu Yunzheng didn’t argue about the definition and purpose of the room with Yu He. He calmly told him, “Yu He, our home doesn’t have so many rules.”

Fu Yunzheng’s indulgence made Yu He have the illusion that he could do whatever he wanted in the Fu residence. However, he had just met Fu Yunzheng for a day, while Li Jing had worked at the Fu residence for more than ten years. Yu He wouldn’t tell Fu Yunzheng the rules that Li Jing had used to suppress him.

The three new dishes added to the table were all very delicious, and Yu He ate two bowls of rice. He had an extremely elegant way of eating, using his chopsticks to accurately pick out the tender oil vegetable hidden beneath the red oil in the spicy soup.

The oil vegetables were green and lush, and when Yu He slowly chewed with his mouth closed, even Fu Yunzheng could hear the sound of him chewing on the vegetables.

Crunch, crunch.

He looked like a little rabbit.

Seeing that Yu He was enjoying his meal, Fu Yunzheng couldn’t help but eat half a bowl of rice. However, he didn’t touch the spicy dish.

After finishing the meal, it was the easiest time to feel sleepy, and it was also time for Fu Yunzheng’s nap. Yu He and Fu Yunzheng went upstairs together, and Fu Yunzheng noticed that Yu He was tired. He promised, “Go back to your room and sleep, no one will knock on your door from now on.”

Yu He yawned and his eyes were moist. He was extremely moved. He had never seen a boss like Fu Yunzheng who was so considerate of his subordinates! When Li Jing caused trouble for him, Fu Yunzheng was able to see through the situation without him having to explain, and resolved the problem first.

Yu He crouched down and looked at Fu Yunzheng, sincerely saying, “Boss, you are a good person.” Fu Yunzheng smiled brightly.

Fu Yunzheng has a handsome appearance, but due to some illness, his lips have a purplish-white color. His face appears slightly gloomy when he is cold, but when he smiles, he looks as bright as the first snow after a clear sky, with a clear and radiant aura.

He said to Yu He, “I want you to get enough rest so that you don’t use it as an excuse to be lazy at work. Is this being a good person?”

“Being lazy at work,” what is Yu He’s ‘work,’ the two of them knew it in their hearts.

Yu He remembered the intimacy they shared last night, his heart felt a bit itchy and flirted, “I am happy to serve you.”

Fu Yunzheng smiled, his face serene and light, but his fingers unconsciously hooked the tassel on the blanket. “There’s no rush. I’ll let you serve me when the time comes.”

After the two of them parted ways in the hallway, Yu He returned to his room and pulled the curtains shut before going to sleep. When he woke up again, the bedroom was completely dark and he heard the sound of something being dragged in the corridor.

Was it the dining car? Had he slept until dinner time?

Yu He reached for his phone and saw that it was already 9pm.

It’s a bit late for dinner, and a bit early for a late-night snack.

‘What’s that noise outside the door?’

Yu He pushed open the door and saw two servants pushing a (ECG) cardiac monitor to the next room.

The elevator doors opened again, and two more servants pushed out some equipment that Yu He didn’t recognize. As they passed by Yu He, they still remembered to bow and salute: “Young Master Yu.”

“What’s going on?” Yu He was a bit confused.

‘Why are they moving emergency equipment like this to the next room? Is Fu Yunzheng sick?’

The servant answered in a low voice, “Mr Fu has a fever.”

Leaving these six words, the servant bowed to Yu He and then pushed the equipment into the next room.

The wheels at the bottom of the equipment rolled on the ground, making a muffled rumbling sound, and there was a faint smell of alcohol in the hallway.

The atmosphere was very strange, and Yu He suddenly felt an extremely unreal feeling. For a moment, he didn’t know if he was dreaming or awake, and it took him a while to come back to his senses.

By the way, what did that servant just say?

Fu Yunzheng has a fever?
