54 Invitation

"A letter from a noble family?" Zayne muttered with a gulped voice before carefully taking the letter.

Everyone was silent, waiting for Zayne to read the letter and make a decision.

Crackle.

Zayne broke the seal and pulled out a sheet of paper with only a few lines written on it, a very beautiful handwriting that only skilled calligraphers were capable of.

[Hello Traveler. As the future heir of the Redfall Family, I invite you to my mansion. Commander Roland will show you out.

See you soon.]

'Is that all...?' Zayne inwardly muttered in a confusion, 'I expected more, though... by all appearances I am being addressed by a serious person, only a few brief phrases are enough for a letter.'

"I am invited to visit the Redfall Family Manor..." Zayne said uncertainly, looking around to see the reaction of the others.

"Damn... I knew it." Elin bit her lip enviously, "I tried to be the best at the Knight Academy, but even that wasn't enough to get the attention of the Redfall Family."

"Yeah, I agree. Even after I graduated from Oracle Academy, I just got a congratulations letter, even though the other Families invited me to personally greet me." Rina said modestly with a slight nod.

"You still have a long way to go. You're just too young, so you haven't had time to get an achievement that's worthy of the Redfall Family's personal attention, though I'm surprised too. Zayne is, after all, a Traveler, so their reaction was pretty quick." Roland said calmly as he crossed his arms over his chest.

[You got Unique Quest!]

[Invitation from the Redfall Family

You are one of the lucky few who have been personally approached by the heir of the Redfall Family!

Head to Red Feather City to meet the most influential family in the Lax River Region!]

"So, Zayne, what is your decision?" Aron asked seriously, "I'll be honest. This is an incredible opportunity for you. Our village is a pleasant place, but there are absolutely no prospects here. The best you can hope for here is to spend an old age with a private garden. Quiet, silent, but boring."

Zayne nodded, "Yeah, I understand that. I think it's time for me to move on. I'll go to Red Feather City, but hopefully, I'll have time to return from time to time to this place that gave me such an enthusiastic start."

Aron smiled broadly, unable to hide his emotions, then he stood up and held out his hand, "In that case, I'll be waiting for you. You always know where to find me."

Zayne nodded, answering with a handshake. He meant it sincerely, for once in Landow Village he did not even know if he would continue to play Fallen Fate Online. However, now, especially after this morning's deal with Feto, Zayne was pretty sure that this was just the beginning of his long journey.

'It turns out Rubia was right again, isn't it? I'll have to thank her, for that was fateful advice.' Zayne muttered inwardly with his eyes closed as he had a slight, happy smile on his face.

...

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

The carriage drove forward at high speed, occasionally bumping into bumps, causing it to shake slightly. Now, the only one affected was Rina, who was bouncing slightly because of it. Zayne, on the other hand, had already adapted completely, unlike the last time.

"You're getting stronger and more confident right before my eyes. I wonder if all Travelers are as capable as you are." Roland asked as he grinned.

"I don't know, so far I've only met a few of them." Zayne shrugged as his eyes went wide since he remembered something important.

'Right... Since we cleared Chaos Hearth, I've gotten a few levels. I need to use my Status Points, that way I'll become much stronger!' Zayne internally exclaimed as he opened his status.

'Damn... I have quite a few points, but what exactly should I be improving? Putting everything into one stat would be stupid, that's for sure, so what about an even split?' Zayne pondered.

At the same moment, a faint blue glow appeared around Zayne, slowly disappearing and gradually making him stronger.

"Looks like someone just increased his powers, doesn't it?" Roland looked intently at Zayne.

"Yeah... I've never felt so good." Zayne sighed as he looked at his fist, which he slowly clenched and unclenched.

"Oh, I can see it already!" Rina exclaimed cheerfully as she approached the window, "Red Feather City! We're almost there!"

In the distance, next to the hill, was a massive city with high walls and even taller buildings from the upper floors that overlooked the entire Lax River Region. One of the largest structures, was the Knights Academy above which hung a red flag with two crossed swords in front of a shield.

"Wow... This is what Red Feather City looks like..." Zayne muttered with a dazed expression.

"Hah, this city is much more interesting inside. From this distance, you can't tell how much stuff goes on there every day."

The coachman turned, and for a while, a shadow fell over the carriage from the leaves of the trees, then the warm sunlight reappeared as well as six pairs of menacing eyes.

"AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Rina exclaimed frightened, quickly retreating to the back of the carriage, closer to Roland, when a massive beak poked into the window completely shattering it.

Roland reacted instantly, as he pulled Rina to him with one hand and with the other quickly opened the door and pushed off the carriage with his legs, rescuing Rina from the most dangerous spot.

The coachman stopped the horses and jumped down, hiding from the angry birds, whose attention was now focused only on Zayne and Elin.

Whoooooooooooosh.

Before Zayne could understand anything, a crystal arrow flew in front of his face and pierced one of the birds, chaining it to the nearest tree.

'Fuck! I've got to get out of here!' Zayne inwardly exclaimed as he followed Roland, grabbing Elin by the shoulder on the way, which she didn't expect but didn't fight back.

"Rark! Rark! Rark!" A strange roar from the birds spread around while five of them flapped their massive wings with feathers sharp as daggers.

"What the hell is that...?" Zayne became alert as he prepared for battle.

"I don't know. I'm usually ready for anything, but I didn't expect to be attacked in a place like this." Roland said seriously, pulled his sword from its sheath, and stood in front of Rina, "Don't relax, there's something wrong with these birds. They look like they have been enchanted."

"Hah, I've already shot one, we can handle them easily!" Elin exclaimed confidently as she pulled an arrow from her quiver.

"Fine. Let's do it." Zayne reached forward as the Three-Eyed Whistle appeared before him.

A strong smell of blood emanated from the long scarlet blade, and as soon as it spread, all the birds stared at Zayne as if he were the only target.
