Fate's Reversal: The Divines Return

Chapter 73 - He Perished Yet Remains

Stricken with a mind-numbing pain, Kaiden wanted to scream, however, the sounds were stuck in his vocal cords. His spasming body was unable to control itself as he convulsed intensely. If he wasn't already kneeling, he would have fallen to his knees at this moment.

The cause of the pain? The black viscous blood drop that previously entered his body. Although Kairo stripped the blood of its tyrannical presence, he injected it into the energy. As a result, as the Energy flowed through Kaiden's body the two entities collided and the internal impact was horrifying.

So much so that it could be easily inferred by the fact that Kaiden was paralyzed by pain. However, this was what Kairo wanted. If this was a regular bloodline purification, it wouldn't happen to this degree; Kaiden would just gain some unnatural abilities.

No, Kairo wanted to shift Kaiden from his core. As such he caused that inner collision by his actions.

"Young lad. This is the extent of what I can do for you now." said Kairo as he handed slowly. In his eyes laid a distressed, flickering ember of life—sustained simply through his Will alone.

Clutching his c.h.e.s.t, Kaiden balled up as protruding veins appeared on his body from head to toe. The veins turned into a horrifying sight. Visible through his skin, the veins turned black.

Additionally, Kaiden's head droned as his surroundings became blurry. In exchange, his vision turned inward subconsciously.

[System: Complete Bloodline Assimilation has begun. Your race will change as a result of the Complete Bloodline Assimilation. Other changes will occur that are at this time undetermined. This process is relatively slow. Prepare your mind.]

Once that message sounded, he felt as if he was s.u.c.k.e.d into a vat of devilish needles that bore through his complete existence. From his muscles, down to his bones, his energy channels. Everything hurt. His mind quivered under such torture—he couldn't wrap his mind around why something would be so painful.

However, he didn't complain. This instance of pain paled in comparison to the solitude he and Kairo had once felt. Trembling, Kaiden bit his lips—hard enough that crimson blood flowed down his chin.

[System: The process is 1% completed…]

For an instant the pain subsided, however, Kaiden took this as a horrible sign. He was correct, that was just priming. From an encompassing pain, it changed to singular pain. Only one section of his body was focused on at one time.

The process started with his skin. It crawled as if one was separating the layers of the dermis from the muscle. The color changed from a caramel color to more of a purplish amber. His skin looked as if he lived in the night, completely untouched by the sun.

[System: The assimilation process is 11% completed…]

The unbearable pain then seeped deeper into his muscles. Kaiden's fascia involuntarily twitched as he lost complete control over the function—powerless, he fell face first. It felt as if someone severed his tendons and then attached them. Followed by the pain of someone shredding his muscles and remolding them.

However, this pain could be called withstandable compared to what was to come in but a fleeting moment. Although the altering of his skin and muscles only took approximately 10 minutes, because of the pain time felt it slowed to a crawl. It was a known fact that experiencing intense situations caused the concept of time to become an irregularity.

[System: The assimilation process is 24% completed…]

Burrowing deeper, the tyrannic energy penetrated Kaiden's bones. This pain caused his eyes to slam open as he clawed the ground by his t.h.i.g.hs. Unfortunately, not for long as his body was paralyzed once again by pain. When the energy penetrated his bones it felt as if his skeletal structure was smashed asunder, the immensity made him blank.

The remolding process of the bones was the most intricate—the density skyrocketed as they were polished by this energy. His previous lackl.u.s.ter bones shimmered with a faint metallic gleam.

[System: The assimilation process is 44% completed…]

Now the morphing energy reached his organs. For a moment, Kaiden felt he died. His senses completely failed. His vision went black as the world faded. His ears didn't perceive noise. Nevertheless, he knew he was very much alive as the sensation of pain was still encroaching upon him.

*KHEUK*

Vomiting, bits of old organs, and a thick blackish purplish substance were expelled from his body. After this happened a few times, his organs then operated at the peak efficiency they currently could. Especially his eyes and ears, the former burned indefinitely and the latter felt as if it ceased to function for the moment.

[System: The assimilation process is 72% completed…]

Now came the most meticulous part that made Kaiden feel like dying 3 times over. His energy channels were severed while his energy center was forcefully expanded. When the energy engulfed the channels, they recovered twice as thick and 3 times as sturdy. However, in relativity, they were still minuscule at best. The walls of his energy center strengthened as a shred of this energy was left inside.

[System: The assimilation process is 92% completed…Reaching the final stages. However, the system has been alerted by your mental stress levels. Your pain reception is leaving the recommended highest threshold. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!]

[W A R N I N G! W A R N I N G! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!]

Red system messages continuously flashed above Kaiden. But he was completely immobilized by pain. HOW THE HELL WOULD HE RESPOND WHEN DEBILITATED?! As a result, the message did nothing except flash. On the other hand, Kaiden was now placed in a fierce battle.

The foreign overbearing aura traveled to his brain. Hence, it became a battlefield. The overbearing will and his Will clashed. Convulsing, Kaiden's eyes rolled back as his conscience receded solely to his mind. His brain relinquished complete control of his body.

….

A faint image of himself appeared in his mind before a shadowy mass that was invading. The mind's image gaze intensified into a glare as it stood there imperiously.

"This is my mind-space. Who are you to invade and act willfully? Yield." said this faint image.

However, the mass disregarded him and rushed towards him. Holding out his hand, a battle of Will commenced for the first time since he began this game. In spite of being his own body, Kaiden held no upper hand over this shadowy mass. And this infuriated him.

"YIELD!"

"YIELLDD!!!"

"YIEEELLDDD!!! I will not submit, therefore YOU YIELD!"

Screaming, an irregular mountainous Will exuded from the mental image that crushed and continuously compressed the shadowy mass. Although it struggled, soon enough the shadowy mass was compressed into an orb the size of a pill.

Grabbing it from suspension, the mental image tossed it in their mouth with a slightly prideful smirk—as if it had just quelled a meaningful foe.

….

Opening his eyes abruptly, a wild burst of energy of an unsettling magnitude burst from Kaiden billowing into distance rapidly. However, before it reached Kairo—Kaiden utter.

"Halt."

That wave of Energy stopped.

[System: Congratulations, the Complete Bloodline Assimilation has succeeded. You have race changed to a Fallen Human (Demon).]

Standing, Kaiden's presence shifted. It felt stilled as if he didn't possess any aura.

"Magnificent, young lad. You have consumed the foreign Will, haven't you? The temporary bolstering will soon subside and return to your rightful level."

"Thank you Master." once again Kaiden bowed as he looked at Kairo's feet. They were slowly disintegrating into the wind.

"My pupil, my only successor... May the almighty Origin be with you." smiled Kairo as he flicked his finger—a beam shooting onto the back of Kaiden's right palm.

"With me gone, you can still enter this place...but do so sparingly." with these words, Kairo's figure completely faded yet a small fragment landed on Kaiden's forehead.

Touching his forehead, a teardrop shedded from Kaiden's now completely golden eyes with thin elliptical pupils. Moreover, instead of pure black, there was a tinge of crimson. His eyes became ravenous—easily becoming a trait meant to captivate. Moreover, his canine teeth although not protruding like a vampire became more defined and sharp.

Furthermore, his facial feature became a tinge sharper as there was a more imperious masculine feel to him. Watching as Kairo blended with the wind, Kaiden exhaled. His gaze became more resolute—he understood what he needed to do.

Looking at the back of his palm, Kaiden inspected the strange symbol that resided there. It was a horizontal, sharp"S" shaped rune with 2 opposing and 1 horizontal line crossing the midsection.

'Hmm?'

Looking around, Kaiden gazed into the desolate horizon.

'I have never explored this place yet now I own it. Perhaps I'll leave that journey for another time.'

Swiping his hand downward, Kaidenread the abilities that came with his race change.

'Kriishna, Latahhya it's time to exit.' telepathically said Kaiden as he rushed back. Currently, he was in no mood to stay inside the Forgotten Anomaly Realm any longer.

Stepping before them, Kriishna and Latahhya were shocked by the change Kaiden underwent.

"M-Milord? What is this appearance?" asked Kriishna as he inspected Kaiden's otherwise otherworldly handsomeness. ON the other hand, Latahhya stood in the background as she squeezed her t.h.i.g.hs together pulling down on her skirts.

This had something to do with what she whispered into Kaiden's ear. Being in here, her body was slightly regulated to this environment. As a result, her enhanced heat was showing signs of flaring up again.

"Think of it as an irregular Human. While I am still part Human I am just a darkened version so to say." said Kaiden. Lifting his right hand, the rune on the back of his hand turned crimson as it radiated.

A portal opened before them as they stepped through.

As they left, a light ripple in space appeared in the realm...

….

Back in the Crescent Wake Town…

The moment he stepped through the portal, Kaiden was alerted by a message from General Sonic.

"Kaiden, the meeting with Vizionary Zeal has been set for tomorrow afternoon, precisely 2 PM. When you get this, confirm it with me." reading the time stamp, this was sent 7 hours ago.

Seeing he was still online, Kaiden confirmed his availability with General Sonic. In slightly under 1 day was his meeting. As such, Kaiden would take some time to get the things he needed to be done—done.

Arriving before the Guild Residence, Kaiden entered as he instructed Kriishna to do whatever he liked. The current state of the Residence was half empty, with most probably out complete some leveling.

However, Kaiden was shocked to see Gentle Whisper napping at a desk.
