"Well, that gate took you to an alternate dimension, you're on earth but a different one…" Hana answered Alex's question in a serious tone. It seemed like she was completely serious here, but her words just sounded too ludicrous to Alex.

Different worlds? Alternate dimensions? All of this was just supposed to be fiction, but this woman next to Alex seemed to be completely serious in her claims that Alex was transported here.

As Alex was trying to process what he just heard, Hana spoke, "It must very weird to hear right? Alternate Dimensions? Different Earth? But the sooner you accept it, the better it is. We've had many others just like you, those who were thrown in as an experiment but managed to escape into the gate and pop up in our world out of nowhere. There are some who went in willingly, who had significant power, comparable to out S-Rank protectors. Some… well, like you were weak and managed to escape by pure luck. We keep them all in quarantine until we can figure out if they are good or bad."

Hana then looked towards Alex, straight into his eyes, "Our greatest fear is that some worlds sent criminals as guinea pigs to a newly opened portal, something that they might not have seen before. Now, tell me Alex… Are your one of them and do you have proof that you're not a criminal?"

Hana's actions and her words stunned Alex. She was confident in everything that she did. After a brief amount of silence, Alex shook his head, "I… I don't have much proof but I'm not a criminal, I'm just a loser who's life went downhill one morning, leading me all the way to another world…" He answered truthfully. Even though the atmosphere felt tense, Alex didn't feel stressed out. He was calm.

"Hmm, I can already feel that you aren't someone bad, but you will still be kept in the facility until they figure out what kind of person you are. But I guess you can be set free sooner than normal… but well have to see how you do it… Ah! Forgive me, I'm just blabbing on." Hana's words somewhat confused Alex, she was acting very different from earlier.

"Well, do you have any questions? If you have questions on dimensions, or how we knew that you are a migrant from another dimension, or similar, just keep it to yourself for now. The facility is also an information center for you. Any other question is allowed." She said after some thinking.

Alex looked towards Hana, "Earlier, when I was talking about how I reached here, you said that there wer-" As Alex was about to ask a question, he could hear a familiar voice.

[5 Minute Mute ended.]

Alex took a deep breath, 'System, Mute for an indefinite time. I will tell you when to unmute.' Alex was once again annoyed by the system. It seemed to not know much about its surroundings, or at least not care enough.

Hana watched as Alex just suddenly stopped talking. She could see that Alex just randomly became annoyed by something, but she didn't question it.

Alex realized that he was next to Hana and quickly continued his question, "I mean, You said that there were similarities… Can you tell me what you meant by that?"

A small smile appeared on Hana's face when she heard Alex's question, "well, I wouldn't answer this question but I guess it must be killing you not knowing what type of world you are in. I can answer this much… It hasn't been that long since gates appeared in our world, at the same time, people started to get random abilities. We call them awakened. We rank them based on the type of powers they have and how useful it is for combat. I guess that ranking system is similar to your world, F-ranks are the weakest and S+ ranks are the most powerful." Hana answered.

Alex nodded, 'It seems like people might have encountered what I had or something similar. This system seems to give me powers but acts like I'm in a game… Maybe after portals opened here, the so called awakened might have been given powers by luck. It means that I'm not much different that them. But this also means that I need to figure out how this system works. But that is for later, I can't be distracted by it now.' Alex thought to himself.

"Well, I had questions for you but it seems we arrived in the facility. I have a few things to do, so you follow the guards. Become verified, and we can continue this talk later on." Hana said as the car slowly stopped. He quickly exited the vehicle and walked off into the building in a hurry.

Alex, a bit confused by Hana's sudden action, got out of the car and looked around, it looked like he was in the middle of the desert. Completely isolated. In front of him was a large building that looked like a hospital. 'This must be the quarantine facility that she spoke of.' Alex said to himself as he looked toward the entrance of the building, where a few guards stood.

"You! Get over here." A guard yelled towards Alex, his gun pointed on him.

Alex nodded and did as the man asked. He walked towards the guard and stood still. At this moment, he only had one thing on his mind, the system. He wanted to finish everything that was told to him so he could finally try to figure out what the system was.

"We have a card ready for you. Wear this and enter the facility. Your questions will be answered once you enter." The Guard handed Alex a white card.

(Name: Alex_01)

(Age: 20)

(Status: Unknown)

'Hmm, what does this status mean? And 01? Are there more Alex, so they had to put a number next to my name? Or is that just a code? Well, they've already told me to wear it, I guess I can ask the workers here. They did say that my questions will be answered here so might as well but patient with it. I just hope they give me a good amount of time to figure out what the system is.' Alex said to himself as he put the card around his neck.

The guard pointed him towards the entrance of the facility; it seemed like they weren't going to follow him inside; he had to go all on his own.

As Alex entered the facility, he smelt a familiar scent. It was blood. Alex tried to exit the gate and tell the guards, but the doors closed on him, and no matter how much he tried, the gates didn't even budge; it was shut tight.

Alex turned around. It was dark, only one light bulb was hanging on the ceiling, illuminating a figure lying on the ground, drenched with blood. 'What's happening? Didn't Hana enter here just a few moments ago? I don't really understand, If the interior was like this, the guards must have already known that something was off, but they acted like everything was normal… Something feels very out of place here and I don't like it.' Alex said to himself as he continued to look at the figure from afar. The light source was kept so perfectly that the figure was identifiable as a human, but one couldn't make out the gender or size. There was visible blood on the ground, which gave off a potent scent of blood everywhere, but it wasn't the case before Alex entered the facility where everything smelt normal.
