‘The Lizziana Duchy had three children. However, one of them had never appeared in high society due to her health. But she was rumored to be incompetent unlike her genius siblings.’

Now that he saw her, it was obvious that she couldn’t keep up with her siblings, much less Daikin. But Daikin wasn’t conceited. It was true, no one could keep up due to his natural talents, even the archduke who was renowned for his abilities.

“You dolt, she’s been kicked out of the family.”

“They could have secretly given it to her.”

‘Idiots, they were the fools.’

He can’t believe they didn’t recognize the jewel in front of their eyes. Daikin remembered the girl’s teary face. He was worried about what kind of expression she would make after receiving that slap.

“It’s been almost a year since she was kicked out of the house. She’s not getting a present. And who else would gift her a birthday present if not our parents?”

‘It’s her birthday…? But why was she crying like that?’

It was her birthday and she even tried to treat an uninvited guest. Daikin remembered Ailee, who would wipe the teacup timidly. His face turned red, an unknown rage welling up inside of him.

What was it? Was he going to lose it? No, but…

The conversation continued while Daikin worried about his emotional well-being.

“Sister, aren’t you thirsty?”

No way. Hearing that, Daikin stiffened.

Splash.

He heard the sound of water, and saw how water flowed down onto the fairy’s feet.

‘Are they crazy?’

Daikin almost pulled himself from out under the bed unconsciously, but he regained his composure at the last second. If he got out now, everything would be in vain. He ended up doing nothing and wallowed in self-pity.

“Sister, it must be refreshing.”

“Don’t you feel like you can control water now? Good for you. It was your wish to have that ability.”

“That’s right, my wish came true.”

They said sarcastic and derisive remarks.

Ailee couldn’t open here eyes for a moment due to the water splashed onto her. She tried opening here eyes, but she barely could. Her eyes were too wet.

“Well, we’ll be on our way now. Dessert’s being served.”

“Remember this, sister. Look back on this fondly when you want an ability, and how it came true. See you.”

Ailee didn’t budge and breathed quietly. Meanwhile, Lane and Lizzy laughed and were about to go outside. Ailee gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, “This isn’t fun.”

Lane and Lizzy’s footsteps paused. Lizzy looked dumbfounded as if her ears heard the outlandish sentence.

“What did she just say?”

“This is not fun. It’s childish.”

The twins looked at each other. From the look in their eyes, one could see their wounded pride. They stared at Ailee—Lane watched from behind with keen interest while Lizzy stepped forward to have a word.

“We’re going to the academy now. I’m not at home during the day, see you at night.”

Lane squinted his eyes as he looked at Ailee, who was tight-lipped after hearing Lizzy. He felt something more needed to be done.

“Oh, yes, that would be opportune.”

Lane, who got his sick fun picking on those weaker than him like his father in his formative years, began brewing something in that mind of his while Ailee was distracted with Ailee. Lane came up with an idea in mere seconds, grinned, and called Lizzy.

“Lizzy, let’s go. She says it isn’t fun, so let’s play somewhere else.”

“What? This idiot thinks she can stand up to me. You want to move on?”

“Yes, I thought of something more exciting.”

Lane winked and grabbed Lizzy’s arm. Lizzy eventually stepped away reluctantly.

“If it’s not fun, you’ll be the first to get it.”

“Well, I’m positive it’ll be fun.”

And with that, the twins took their departure from Ailee’s hut. Meanwhile, Ailee stood in her anguish with clenched fists. As soon as the door closed, Daikin slipped out from under the bed in a jiffy.

“You okay?”

‘It’s over.’

I thought I could make a new friend. Is it because I’m greedy? Was God angry? They splashed water on me, and everything I didn’t want that boy to find out, he now knows.

I looked at the boy as my eyes still stung from the water. The boy was hidden under the bed, so dust was everywhere. I wish he hadn’t heard all of that.

It wasn’t important to ask whether he was okay. What was important was something else.

“…You heard everything, right?”

My question stopped the boy’s movement. He’s not deaf, he would’ve heard everything. Why did I ask something pointless? What kind of answer am I expecting?

The boy’s eyes tried to drift toward the bed. But we were about the same height, so it was clear where his awkward gaze was pointing.

“What? I couldn’t hear anything because I was asleep down there. I must have dozed off because I was exhausted.”

“…….”
