IBFV CHAPTER 64

In the veil of night, under the galaxy.

Bai Zhi held a small lamp and lightly hung it in a high place on the ship. Then he found somewhere to sit down and stretched his neck out, as if he were waiting for someone.

The system felt the ocean’s chilly night breeze. It kicked the little demon somewhat irritably:

“You’ve waited for several nights already and they still haven’t come, go back and sleep!”

“Don’t want to.” Bai Zhi was always particularly obstinate at times like these: “Today is a special day, I want to wait for him.”

“What day?”

Bai Zhi suddenly smiled, he used his finger to point at the stars in the sky: “Today’s stars are prettier than the last few days’.”

The system pondered it for a while, then probed: “…So?”

“So it’s very special ah.” Bai Zhi said seriously: “What if, he comes tonight…”

“You–” The system momentarily didn’t know what to say, it pointed at Bai Zhi for a long time, and in the end it sighed: “Fine fine, if you want to wait then wait, but I’m not waiting with you.”

After saying this, its body disappeared on the spot with a flash, and it even threw back a sentence: “If you end up getting cold, don’t call me, I won’t come out and help you warm you up!”

“Okay, I’ll remember to call you.” Bai Zhi nodded and thought silently inside.

Several days ago, after he confessed to that mermaid Luo Xunyu, Luo Xunyu still didn’t believe him. Bai Zhi had planned on retreating a step when the student Ming Xin, unexpectedly a step ahead, found where they were.

The extremely vigilant mermaid had vanished in an instant. Bai Zhi hadn’t called out in time, and could only return to the ship and plan his next step.

He abided by his promise to the mermaid. Every night he would light a lamp, it was just that, to this day, Luo Xunyu hadn’t come to find him.

In actuality, Bai Zhi felt a little sad.

In the past, before he had met the system, he spent several hundred years alone by himself, and nothing had really changed. He would treat dew water as food, sleep under a tree at night, chase butterflies when he was happy, and occasionally he would slip into the human world. The Bai Zhi from that time was truly unworried and carefree.

Since when did uncertainties trouble him, fluctuating his mood?

It was probably after meeting that person.

When he was with that person, he would become very happy, and when they weren’t together he would miss him. Bai Zhi hugged his knees with both hands, lifted his head, and glanced at the starry sky. He tilted his head and thought again, oh, also, right now, he really wanted to tell him:

“I saw stars that were very beautiful.”

“…Very beautiful.”

An ethereal voice sounded from next to his ear. Bai Zhi’s expression shifted, he stood up with a whoosh and looked in all four directions for a long time, yet didn’t see even the shadow of a person. He furrowed his brows and was planning on slipping back indoors when a voice suddenly sounded again:

“Idiot, where are you walking?”

Bai Zhi’s footsteps halted, and he blinked his eyes.

“I’m not on the ship. Also, what I’m saying to you can’t be heard by them.”

Hearing this, Bai Zhi rushed quickly to the ship railing as if he had been enlightened. He leaned his entire body against the railing, his eyes scanned the surroundings unceasingly, and his heart almost overflowing with anticipation.

The beautiful mermaid appeared in an area not far away, the cool moonlight lightly shrouding him. Luo Xunyu’s head was slightly raised, his gaze motionlessly fixed on Bai Zhi who was on the ship. Bai Zhi took a deep breath. In that happy moment he forgot how to move and could only hesitatingly remain frozen for a long time before he said, his voice small:

“You, you came.”

Lu Xunyu en’d in reply. He was silent for a while before adding:

“I felt that you wanted to see me.”

Bai Zhi wanted to answer: “I–”

“So I came.”
