28 – Unexpected guests (2)

Unfortunately, it didn’t happen that I took Elena out of the way.

Perhaps it was because they walked slowly, shuffling their feet, but the banquet hall was already filled with many people.

In the highest seat sat Joachim, the owner of the winter castle and the host of the banquet, and everyone seemed to be enjoying the banquet in their own way, except for a few wagging their tails eagerly to have a little conversation with him.

But now it’s time for the main character to emerge.

As the door opened and Elena and I stepped into the banquet hall, the eyes of everyone standing here gathered in one place. Even at the young age of 16, her appearance shining like a star was enough to catch everyone’s attention here.

It wasn’t for nothing that I was shocked when I saw her as soon as I opened the door.

As I focused my gaze on Elena, people automatically began to look at me, who was standing next to her. I don’t know what words Yoheim used to invite the people here, but at least they didn’t seem to know that I was Kraus.

Well, looking at the emotions he felt through his gaze toward me, it wasn’t something I dared to send to Krause’s successor.

Of course, the emotions that are contained unconsciously can’t be helped, but the emotions in their eyes right now were too blatant to think that way.

Even so, it seems that at least none of the people here lack common sense, given that the people who look at me like that are teenagers who are still immature to hide their emotions. Those who seemed to be their protectors were adept at hiding their feelings, befitting those who repeatedly fell in a social world that was like a pandemonium.

Even so, it wasn’t that I couldn’t feel the emotions that came out little by little every time I saw me. well, how is it?

Ignoring their gaze, I squeezed Elena’s hand and walked toward Joachim, who was smiling quietly as he looked down at us from the high table in the distance.

There was no one blocking the path towards him.

We arrived in front of Joachim through an open road like the parting Red Sea. He got up from his seat, came down toward us, grabbed me by the shoulder, and spoke to me quietly with a sad face.

“Sorry. How can you look so relaxed with my daughter right next to you?”

“I’m not the type to show off my face. No, then you wanted to see me standing in front of them with an unsightly, nervous face on my face? It is.”

At my answer, Yohaim gave a small smile and lightly let go of my disgruntled gaze.

“I didn’t have that kind of heart, but I did. You guys look exactly like Arthur. So I thought I’d be able to see something fun for the first time in a while…”

“father?”

A chilling voice in Joachim and my ears.

Somehow, no matter how northern it is, I wondered why my hands were so cold even though it was indoors, and as before, Elena’s magic assimilated with her emotions and erupted.

Fortunately, it wasn’t enough to affect the entire banquet hall like it was then, so the only ones who could notice it were me holding her hand and Yohaim nearby.

As soon as Joachim saw his daughter’s eyes as cold as the north wind, he cleared his throat, stopped talking to me, and hurriedly turned his gaze to the people below.

Oh, he ran away.

After kicking out the mischievous father-in-law, Elena took advantage of Joachim’s gaze and sent me a wink while closing one eye without saying anything. Seeing her like that, I couldn’t hold back the raised corners of my mouth and replied with a wink just like her.

But Joachim only looked away from us for a moment, took one look around the banquet hall, and immediately signaled me to come closer.

Receiving his signal, I stood next to him along with Elena. Confirming that everyone in the banquet hall was looking at us, he spoke with a heavy voice different from when he joked with me.

“It looks like there are uninvited guests, but it seems like everyone I called has gathered.”

At one word from Yoheim, the banquet hall became quiet.

His voice had the power to weigh down the public. Standing in this position now, he was not his father, but the ruler of the north and the owner of the only seven mage towers on the continent, so it was difficult to imagine the same image he had when dealing with me.

‘gate crasher?’

However, what fills my head now is the identity of the ‘uninvited guest’ he mentioned rather than the changed appearance of Yohaim. It wasn’t that there weren’t people below who were thinking the same as me, but they didn’t seem to have any intention of speaking out because of Joachim’s momentum.

I didn’t think to ask him about the identity of the ‘uninvited guest’ he said.

If that ‘uninvited guest’ was harmful to us, Yohaim would have dealt with it in front of everyone without saying anything like this in front of people.

The fact that he didn’t do that means that he deliberately told the audience to screw up… Could it be his father?

I shook my head and denied that possibility.

It would be difficult for even a father to come from Sarham to Merohim in two days. And if you were going to attend the banquet, you would have moved with us from the beginning.

Above all, if my father had come, I would not have noticed. No matter how much my father stands on the highest level of being a sword master, even though I can’t reach that level, I have reached a level where I can be confident in my skills.

It didn’t make sense that my father and I had been sharing swords for over several years, and he didn’t even notice. Then it sounds like someone else. No one came to my mind right now.

Why do you care so much about ‘uninvited guests’ who don’t have to know their identity? I don’t know if I think about it myself, but even though I’m uncertain, my senses are telling me this. It means that if you get involved with that ‘uninvited guest’, your future will be very tiring.

“Some of you may have already noticed, but the reason I called you was to inform you of my daughter Elena’s engagement. This child standing next to me is the one who is engaged to Elena.”

Still, there is no time to worry about unidentified uninvited guests right now. Let’s put aside personal curiosity and insecurities.

The fact that Yoheim’s voice introducing me did not change much from before, but the fact that the atmosphere had changed would not have been too difficult for listeners. Shaking off my thoughts, I spoke to them, facing the gazes directed at me.

“My name is Damian Krause, who is now engaged to Miss Elena Edelweiss.”

A voice that is neither high nor low.

However, the words spoken with history would have been enough to reach the ears of everyone here.

I don’t know if they were taken aback by my voice ringing right in their ears or surprised by Krause’s name that came out of my mouth, but most of the people gathered here seemed taken aback by my introduction.

The ones who looked the most startled were the teenage boys who gave me blatant glances.

It is because those who had a longing for the sword couldn’t help but not know the legend of the founder of Krauss, who is talked about along with the warrior who founded the empire.

Furthermore, in this world where dragons exist, the legend of the only Dragon Slayer in the world has a similar awareness to the founding myth of the Estelian Empire.

It was only after I became possessed by Damian that I knew if there was such a legend in my family, but I couldn’t have known a story that wasn’t even written in the book.

After all, novels are developed around the main character and the people around him, so there was no way readers could know about the legend of the Krause family, a villain who was eliminated at the beginning and whose face was only seen once afterward.

Anyway, apart from that, the youngest sword master on the continent who has already become a living legend besides the old legend of Kraus is the current head of Krause and my father. There was no one who didn’t know that fact, so they lowered their eyes that were directed at me as if they were like that.

I didn’t bother paying attention to them. I just kept silent on what I had to say.

“Krause and Edelweiss have been reliable friends for a long time. I am very happy that that relationship has led to the engagement between Miss Elena and myself.”

There was no lie in this statement.

It was all true that he said that he was happy to be engaged to her, even though he had been hung up on breaking up his marriage until a few days ago. As for the male lead candidates in the original work, weren’t there those who even got engaged to her?

“Of course, simple words will not be enough to express that feeling. So, I, Damien Krauss, here and now, under the name of Krause’s deputy head of household, with this engagement as the starting point, Krauss promises to be with Edelweiss forever.”

The ring on my finger is a sacred object that symbolizes Krause’s family head.

Since a seat is a seat, even if I am a young boy of only sixteen, what I said here and now actually has the same effect. Of course, even if the words were grandiose, this only meant that Krause would continue to have a good relationship with Edelweiss.

Still, there was nothing more certain than this to imprint who I am as a human being in the minds of those who are here now.

It is only the head of the family who decides the relationship between families. Moreover, if they saw Joachim’s modesty in my words, they couldn’t just think of me as Elena’s fiancée.

‘Don’t think of me and you as equals.’ There is nothing like family and title. Even my father, who entrusted me with the ring, would say that this was a passing grade.

Thus, my brief self-introduction ended with applause from the crowd.

Even if there were people who wanted to disagree about the engagement, if they knew their subject, they would be able to figure out that even if they were a vassal of Edelweiss, it was a place they shouldn’t talk about. Fortunately, none of those standing here couldn’t figure out where to put it.

When the applause of the people stopped, the banquet hall began to fill with the sound of music played by pre-prepared bands.

With the start of the performance, Joheim’s permission to start the banquet was given, and many people in the banquet hall began to approach me, as if they had prepared in advance. But I never met them. Because I was already a body with a prior medicine.

She smiled softly and spoke to me.

“Damian?”

“Yes. I know. Hmm, hmm… Elena, would you please give me a chance to dance with you?”

“Of course!”

***

“Damian stay here. I’ll get you something to drink.”

“No, that’s fine. I’ll get it.”

“Who is the person who almost fell in front of me earlier? Just sit quietly here.”

“that’s…”

Before I could finish my sentence, she had already left the balcony to get something to drink. I had no choice but to lean my back against the railing and wait for her to come.

The cold wind of Merohim blowing from far away cools the heated face.

As much as I had practiced all this time, when I danced with her today, I didn’t show anything that others would call rude. Rather, when the song was over, others clapped for us, so we might say it was a success.

It wasn’t for me though.

Throughout the dance, I felt like I was transported back to the first night she taught me how to dance.

Her beauty, perfectly decorated with a beautiful dress and full arms, completely shattered me, who was confident that I had adapted through two days of practice.

Even so, there was no mistake during the dance, but it was an undeniable reality that my feet were momentarily relaxed at the end of the song and my body leaned towards her. In the eyes of others, it seemed like I hugged her as soon as the dance was over, but only she, who was closer than anyone else, knew the truth.

“I’m glad though.”

“What’s good about it. You bastard.”

I turned my head hurriedly at the sudden voice in my ear.

No matter how relaxed I was, it wasn’t that I was killing my senses to the extent that I couldn’t feel the presence of those around me. I hurriedly prepared to draw out the sword out of fear of the unknown, but the guy who suddenly appeared in front of me waved his hand and stopped me from taking out the sword.

“Yumma! Don’t use that!! If you use Dragon Heart’s magic here, it will be known not only to Yoheim, but also to Arthur’s bastard!!! I just came here to talk to you.”

“Who are you?”

I stopped imbuing the ring with the aura and asked him.

The only thing I can be sure of at this moment is the fact that the person in front of me is the ‘uninvited guest’ that Yohaim said. Even so, the vigilance against him was not erased. There is no reason to trust someone who suddenly appears and talks to you.

“Ha. Guy. Those unlucky eyes and face really look just like Arthur. Yes, if you’re that curious, let me know!”

Oh, I found one more. Looking at me, talking about my father, or making exaggerated gestures, is clearly an acquaintance of my father or Joheim.

The man threw off the hood of his black robe and began to introduce himself with a confident face. And as soon as I saw his face, I immediately ran towards the banquet hall.

“My name is Franz Erthuwen!! The owner of one of the seven magic towers, the Tower of Twilight! The head of the Erthuwen family!!… Huh? Hey!! Where are you going?! !! No, even something like this resembles Abby…”

I heard some words behind me, but I couldn’t hear them at all. Right now, only one person’s face came to mind.

As far as I know, there were only two people with scarlet hair and red eyes resembling the sunset at sunset, so I entered the banquet hall where Elena was to be before the man finished talking.

As expected, the figure in my head was standing in front of Elena.

“Richard Ertuwen.”

One of the male lead candidates for the original film, whom I thought I would only meet after a year had passed, appeared in front of my eyes.
