Chapter 23 – Guild of the Setting Sun 4

The sky was cloudy that day, just like my mood.

The cause of my melancholy was the unwelcome duo who had come to my room since morning. The guild master with a smile on his face and the receptionist who looked uncomfortable.

“Why did you come all the way to my lodging? If you think logically, I have nothing to do with you anymore!,” I managed to squeeze of the words.

Ignoring my feelings, the guild master talked about his own convenience. “Aix-kun, since I came all the way here, can’t you let us into your room for a little bit? Let’s talk for a while. Besides, it would be a bother to other guests if we stay here.”

Listening to the guild master’s unpleasant request, my body felt heavy.

What about my convenience? Why should other guests have priority?

The duo in front of me gave off an atmosphere that made it seem like letting them into my room was a given.

I almost gave in to their silent pressure.

In the past, I would have definitely let them into my room and even served them tea.

…But I made a promise with Luca.

I learned to refuse unpleasant things.

I steeled my resolve and my eyes blazed.

“I refuse!”

I…I was able to say it!

My body trembled with excitement.

It feels so good!!

I can refuse.

I was able to do it.

I’m amazing. I was able to say something that should be obvious, without being controlled by the atmosphere!

The guild master, who I used to be so uncomfortable around, now just looked like a chubby old man with a funny face, still wearing his forced smile.

This is the magic of just four words.

The magic Luca taught me was amazing.

Viva! Freedom.

“What did you say!? What did you just say?” the guild master demanded.

“Don’t you understand? I told you to leave. Should I call the guards?”

Oh, maybe it’s because I’m high, but I can come up with strong comebacks effortlessly. It feels like I’m not myself. Invincible mode.

The receptionist entered the conversation with a confused voice.

“E-Excuse me, Aix-san. We came to apologize today.”

“That’s right. Aix-san. I’m sorry! There you go.”

Following the receptionist, for some reason, the guild master came to make a insincere apology while kneeling down. What’s he apologizing for anyway? Oh, did he take Crazy Bear’s words seriously? Poor guy.

“I heard the apology. So the matter is settled, right? Leave now.”

The guild master, still kneeling down, continued with his face down.

“Aix-sama. I’ll prepare a B-class, no, an A-class seat, so please come back to the adventurer guild.”

“A-class!? Congratulations, Aix-san!”

Hmm…

From F-class to A-class in one go.

I had been working hard for such a shaddy organization all this time. So they’ll probably just demoted me again.

It’s too late now!

I smiled and declared.

“I refuse even if you change my rank now. I will absolutely not return to being an adventure. So please leave!”

The guild master raised his face with surprise. Why? That’s the expression he had.

The receptionist also had a face of not understanding the reason.

“If you don’t understand, I’ll tell you. For me, who is no longer an adventurer, the rank is worth less than toilet paper.”

I looked down on them with a cold gaze.

“Listen to me.”

“Aix-san!”

I closed the door with a bang.

Phew~ That feels refreshing.

There is still noise coming from the other side of the door.

“Now we’re going to review our job duties from now on, you hear me?”

“Yes, that’s right, Aix-san, you’re A-class adventurer now. Let’s date each other.”

Ah!

I forgot to say what was on my mind because my blood was boiling.

I don’t want to tell these two, but it seems like they won’t understand unless I do.

When I opened the door again, the two of them showed a relieved expression as if they had misunderstood something.

“If you come back again, I’ll leave this town! Well then, thank you for your hard work.”

I don’t really want to leave this familiar town, but if it becomes difficult to live in, I have no choice but to leave.

The guild master was in a state of panic and apologized desperately.

“I’m sorry, Aix-san. I’ll withdraw! The guild and Aix-san are no longer related, so I apologize.”

Huh??

I looked at the guild master in surprise at his sudden reversal. The receptionist was also looking at him in surprise.

I wonder if he has his own problems?

Well, it doesn’t matter, it’s not my concern.

This is goodbye for real this time.

I closed the door with a bang.

My head hurts a little, probably from the excitement.

Is this what anger feels like?

I don’t really like it that much.

Finally relieved when I hear the footsteps of the two moving away.

On this day, I officially retired as an adventurer.

My last title was apparently A-class.

I laugh.

Should I brag to Luca and Crazy Bear about it?
