Chapter 77 – Zombies in Defeat 5

“Butler-san. The commander of the army is here to see you.”

“I’ll go right away.”

Humans are creatures that dream, even if it’s just an illusion.

They caught Aix?! The hopeful expression on Yesman’s face as he rushed to the reception room upon receiving a call from the head maid quickly turned to disappointment.

“Is it Batts and Elfman from the Zombies that you caught? And…huh? Who is this?”

In front of Lyog’s solemn face were three bound men: the two swelled-faced hero zombies and an unknown man dressed in the army’s uniform.

The expressions of Lyog’s subordinates surrounding them were gloomy.

“I’m sorry, it’s my management failure.”

“Um, did the hero zombies cause any problems?”

Is the man in the commander’s uniform the key person here? A traitor?

“The hero zombies tried to kidnap the girl Aix was protecting, so we arrested them.”

“W-What?! I don’t understand what you’re saying.”

“The details are in here.” Yesman read the report he was handed. The army hard to lie due to their stupidity, so their unbelievable actions were all true.

“…This is terrible.”

“Wait! Butler-san. It’s a misunderstanding, I swear. We didn’t do anything. Oof.”

“It’s futile! The facts can’t be changed. And there may be more charges against them.”

When Batt’s chirping was interrupted by Lyog’s kick, the liar fell silent. They must have learned the lesson of staying silent until they obey after getting beaten up with battered faces.

“That’s unforgivable. So did that man betray us and provide assistance to them?”

The bound man wearing the uniform of army turned pale and trembled.

“Well, I guess you could say he betrayed us. It’s hard to explain… I was impressed by how focused he was, but now look at him. Ah, please read the end of the report.”

Lyog’s serious attitude made Yesman feel uneasy. And, when he read the “peeing” remark in the report, his stomach started hurting.

“Ugh…”

“We will accept any punishment.”

This was cruel. It nullified their achievements. He pitied Lyog, who had become a victim of the suicide bombing, and was referred to as “we.”

“What’s the situation?”

“He apologized, but he won’t speak to us.”

Lyog’s face looked like he was dying. He seemed to be pleading with his eyes to be killed. This was the first time they had seen such a face.

“I will diminish him from his position and given a restraining order, and he will receive a three-month pay cut. The vice captain’s position will not be reinstated. Now, return by finding Aix.” (Yesman)

“Understood.” (Lyog)

The men, filled with sadness, dashed recklessly to Sheep Town. Even though their recent morning conversations had been a source of comfort.

Lyog, the strongest man in Forest End, turned into a hunting dog and began to seriously chase after Aix.

“As for you guys, you’ll have to wait. Put them in jail.”

“W-wait, the value of the lives of us heroes and these brats is different, isn’t it? This is too much.”

“That’s right. It’s unacceptable. We were only asked by Isel.”

Isel the hero was caught up in the mess.

“Oh, so this is his order?”

“We’ve been set up. By Aix and Isel! We’re the victims.”

“That’s right. Aix set the trap.”

Yesman gave up on the two who were calling out. There was anger directed towards Isel. He seemed to have no energy left to bother with small fries and called out to the remaining soldiers, clanking their footsteps as they disappeared.

“I leave them to you!”

“Yes, sir!”

“Yesman, hey! We are the heroes of this town, you know? Show your gratitude, Yesman!”

“Man, my luck with women is terrible. That maid was over 12 years old. Older women are no good. Girls are only good until they’re 8 years old.”

“Huh? Me too?”

And so the three were escorted to a cold prison cell.
