Chapter 25

Outside the intricately carved iron gate, Jian Ning rang the doorbell, and butler Abel personally came to greet him.

"The young master is playing in the living room," the butler led him inside with a smile.

Upon entering the living room, a spacious corner was filled with toys. Tuan Tuan was nestled among them, using its little paws to play with a fluffy fox toy.

Seeing Jian Ning enter, Tuan Tuan crawled out of the toy pile and ran towards him.

Jian Ning picked up Tuan Tuan. The butler invited him to sit on the sofa while the servants prepared tea. Tuan Tuan licked Jian Ning's chin, then leaped from his embrace and ran back into the toy pile.

The butler said, "The two young masters haven't returned yet. Please sit for a while, Young Master Jian."

After a brief sit, Jian Ning got up to take Tuan Tuan back to the academy. The butler didn't object and arranged for the driver to take them.

Returning to the dormitory with Tuan Tuan, Jian Ning's heart finally settled. The fact that he could take Tuan Tuan away indicated that Zong Ye's family truly didn't intend to snatch Tuan Tuan from him.

Back at his own home, Zong Ye found the butler and the servants tidying up the living room toys. As he unbuttoned his uniform, he asked, "Taken away?"

The butler replied, "Taken away half an hour ago."

Zong Ye nodded and ascended the stairs.

The next day, as scheduled, the butler went to pick up Tuan Tuan. Zong Ming didn't need to go to the Science Academy. He yawningly descended the stairs, nearly stepping on something small.

"Second Young Master!" The butler hurriedly came over to pick up Tuan Tuan from his feet, his face stern as he admonished, "You must remember to watch your step when going downstairs in the future. What if you step on the Young Master!"

Zong Ming rubbed his nose, lazily waved his hand, and said, "Got it," then sat down at the dining table for breakfast.

After finishing breakfast, he sat by the sofa and picked up his Light Brain to browse the news on the StarNet. A servant brought him tea, and as he lifted it for a sip, he heard a sudden cry, "Awoo..." Looking up, he saw Tuan Tuan, who had somehow climbed onto the coffee table. The teacup in his hand accidentally hit the little creature and spilled.

"Second Young Master!" The butler appeared again, cradling Tuan Tuan with concern, checking for burns. Then, he glared at Zong Ming in anger and said, "You need to be more attentive. Now that we have the Young Master at home, you can't be as casual as before."

Early in the morning, Zong Ming had already been scolded twice. He raised his hand somewhat helplessly and said, "Alright, alright, I'll be more careful from now on."

Luckily, the tea wasn't too hot. Tuan Tuan licked its fur and then dashed off to the pile of toys, playfully biting and darting around with them. The little creature's energy was boundless; one moment it emerged from beneath the sofa, and the next it hopped onto the sofa or rolled onto your lap. Zong Ming was worried about accidentally squishing Tuan Tuan, fearing another reprimand from the butler, so he decided to go upstairs and continue sleeping.

He liked sleeping with the air conditioning set quite low, snugly wrapped in his blanket. After working overtime at the Science Academy for the past couple of days, he closed his eyes and dozed off in no time. He wasn't sure how long he had been asleep when he was awakened by the tickling sensation of fur brushing against his chin.

Zong Ming reached out and found a furry little ball sitting by his pillow. Due to the air conditioning, the little body felt a bit chilly. He scooped the tiny ball into his blanket and mumbled, "Sleep," then closed his eyes again.

Tuan Tuan had come looking for his company, but seeing him sleeping, it dejectedly emerged from the blanket, jumped off the bed, and ran out of the room to play on the sunny and warm grass outside.

Having just been in the air-conditioned room, the little fellow now found itself sweating under the scorching sun. When it woke up from its afternoon nap, it seemed somewhat listless and lacking in energy.

The butler, concerned, touched its head and felt that the little one's body was running a fever. He promptly called Dr. Wilson to come over.

When Jian Ning went to the Zong family home to pick up Tuan Tuan, he heard that Tuan Tuan had fallen ill.

"Young Master Jian, I'm truly sorry. I didn't take good care of the Young Master," falling ill on the second day of Jian Ning's presence, the butler felt deeply apologetic.

Upon hearing the reason for Tuan Tuan's illness, Jian Ning shook his head. Tuan Tuan had always been mischievous and loved to run around. It wasn't possible for adults to constantly keep an eye on him. He reassured, "Grandfather, it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself."

"Young Master Tuan Tuan is unwell. Young Master Jian, would you like to stay overnight? We have Dr. Wilson here, and in case anything happens to the Young Master during the night, it would be convenient," the butler suggested.

Jian Ning glanced at Tuan Tuan, who was sulking under the blanket. He was about to decline when the door was pushed open, and Zong Ye walked in from outside, "Stay overnight. It's raining outside."

While he was downstairs, Zong Ming had told him about Tuan Tuan falling sick. Moreover, he overheard the butler's suggestion for Jian Ning to stay the night.

Jian Ning walked over to the window and looked outside. Indeed, it was raining. The windowpane was already wet. Due to being held up at the laboratory for a bit longer today, he arrived slightly late, and the dark clouds and rain had made the surroundings gloomy.

The butler said, "Returning in the rain could worsen the Young Master's condition. I'll go prepare toiletries for Young Master Jian."

Before Jian Ning could respond, the butler turned and left.

With no other choice, Jian Ning silently agreed to stay. He walked to the side of the bed and touched Tuan Tuan's head. Tuan Tuan softly hummed and nuzzled against his palm.

Inside the bathroom, the new pajamas and towels were neatly placed on the shelf, and the unused toiletries were still in their original packaging. After his shower, Jian Ning changed into pajamas and, while washing his face, habitually removed the camouflage film behind his ears.

Exiting the bathroom, he found Tuan Tuan already asleep, and Zong Ye was gently placing it on the bed. Hearing footsteps, Zong Ye turned around, but upon seeing Jian Ning's face, he furrowed his brows and averted his gaze.

?? Did he not clean his face properly? Jian Ning touched his own face, feeling somewhat perplexed.

"Rest up. My room is right across. Knock if you need anything," Zong Ye said, finishing his sentence and without looking at Jian Ning again, he opened the door and left.

Jian Ning walked to the bedside and felt Tuan Tuan's body temperature. It wasn't as hot as before. He picked up his communication device from the bed. There were several messages from Terry asking where he and Tuan Tuan had gone.

Jian Ning replied, not mentioning Tuan Tuan's illness. He simply said that they were staying at a friend's house for the night and asked Terry not to worry. After sending the messages, he realized it was getting late, so he turned off the lights and prepared to sleep.

In the middle of the night, the villa was silent. Suddenly, a door opened without a sound, and a tall figure emerged. Quietly and stealthily, the person walked out and opened the door to the adjacent room.
