Chapter 35

Fortunately, there was still a sofa available. Tuan Tuan didn't take up much space, so it was possible to sleep on it. Jian Ning opened the door and poked his head out to ask Zong Ye, "Do we have any extra blankets? The ones on the bed are wet and unusable."

"How could the blankets be wet?" Zong Ye was about to go to the bathroom to take a shower and walked in with a puzzled expression upon hearing the question.

Approaching the bed and glancing at it, Zong Ye looked coldly at Fei Yu. Fei Yu had shrunk its body into a tiny round ball and nestled within Tuan Tuan's fur on its back.

"The bed is wet too. How can you sleep on it?" Zong Ye reached out and touched the bed, frowning.

Jian Ning pointed to the nearby sofa, saying, "The sofa is available for sleeping."

Fei Yu, hidden on Tuan Tuan's back, felt annoyed. Oh dear, it had forgotten that there was a sofa.

Zong Ye looked at the sofa, which was quite large, enough for Jian Ning to sleep on alone. He didn't object and said, "I'll have the hospital staff send over beddings."

The hospital staff quickly delivered the blankets. Jian Ning placed them on the sofa, and Fei Yu anxiously rolled around nearby. What should it do? If it couldn't complete the mission assigned by the steward, it would lose its little house.

"There's a little bug." Jian Ning was about to wrap Tuan Tuan in the blankets when he saw a tiny flying insect on the back of the sofa. As he was about to swat it away, Fei Yu suddenly felt a movement within and shouted, "Let me handle it."

With a loud "boom," the sofa was split into two halves by a beam that Fei Yu emitted.

Jian Ning held Tuan Tuan, his eyes wide with astonishment. Tuan Tuan looked at Fei Yu in a mix of shock and envy. Its little partner was so amazing.

Zong Ye was taking a shower in the bathroom and, upon hearing the loud noise, he thought something big had happened. He hadn't even put on his clothes and rushed in with a towel wrapped around his waist. Seeing the sorry state of the sofa, his reflex led him to look at Fei Yu.

Fei Yu had turned itself into a mini ball and weakly explained, "There... there was a bug..."

Under Zong Ye's increasingly cold gaze, Fei Yu trembled and was on the brink of tears. Sniffling, it thought, was it really so hard for it? It was just trying to help its master. Would its master really get rid of it?

The loud noise also drew the hospital staff's attention, and Zong Ye temporarily left Fei Yu alone to deal with them. Fei Yu flew over to Tuan Tuan and whimpered, "Young Master, please protect me. Don't let the master punish me."

Tuan Tuan comforted Fei Yu with its tiny paw, puffing up its chest and letting out a reassuring "ao wu" sound. Rest assured, I'll protect you. The big white wolf won't harm you.

With the beds and the sofa out of the question for sleeping, Jian Ning sighed in speechlessness. Where was he going to sleep with Tuan Tuan? On the floor?

After sending away the hospital staff, Zong Ye entered and said, "We'll sleep outside."

Sleep on the same bed as him? Jian Ning hesitated as Zong Ye had already taken his bedding outside.

Jian Ning had no choice but to take Tuan Tuan outside. After assessing the hospital bed, it seemed large enough for both him and Zong Ye to sleep on, with some space in between.

"Let's sleep," Zong Ye placed Jian Ning's blanket on the right side and his own on the left.

"Wait, there's Fei Yu," Jian Ning was about to get a dry towel from the bathroom to make a nest for Fei Yu. Fei Yu didn't dare to stay outside now and quickly said, "I'll go into the space portal." With a swoosh, Fei Yu flew back into the blue gemstone necklace around Tuan Tuan's neck, doing so proactively for the first time.

Jian Ning had no choice but to give up. He removed the blue gemstone necklace from Tuan Tuan's neck and placed it on the bedside table. Then, with Tuan Tuan in tow, he got into the blankets.

Zong Ye dried the water droplets from his body in the bathroom, put on his pajamas, and returned to lie on the bed. He patted his hands together and turned off the light.

Zong Ye had always slept alone, thinking that having someone beside him might affect his sleep. However, he fell asleep shortly after lying down next to the pillow. After drinking some soup at night, he woke up in the middle of the night only to find another person in his blanket. He didn't know when Jian Ning had crawled into his bedding.

In the darkness, Zong Ye remained still for a quiet moment. He slightly sat up, intending to pull Jian Ning's blanket over to cover him and put him back where he belonged. But when he reached to his right, he encountered the edge of the bed?

Turning his head, he glanced, and his own blanket was perfectly in place on the left. It wasn't Jian Ning who had crawled into his blanket; it was him who had crawled into Jian Ning's.

Zong Ye's expression stiffened for a moment. Luckily, it was the middle of the night, and nobody had noticed. Gently lifting the blanket, he prepared to return to his own side. Just then, Jian Ning, who was beside him, moved and rolled over, hugging Zong Ye's waist.

Zong Ye didn't dare to move anymore, fearing he might wake Jian Ning up. If Jian Ning were to ask why he was in his blanket, it would be too embarrassing.

He had originally planned to wait until Jian Ning was sleeping soundly before leaving his blanket. However, not even two minutes passed in this position before Zong Ye unintentionally fell asleep again.

When he woke up once more, he was disturbed by Tuan Tuan's whining. The little fellow had fallen asleep in his father's arms the night before, but now it found itself alone outside the blanket. Its father and the big white wolf were snuggled face to face, intimately hugging each other.

Feeling abandoned, Tuan Tuan used its small paw to pat and scratch their hair, unwilling to be left out and trying to squeeze between them.

Zong Ye reached out to stop Tuan Tuan's paw from flailing around, realizing that their position had become even more intimate than in the middle of the night. Jian Ning's face was against his shoulder, and one of Jian Ning's hands was still around his waist, just like last night.

Outside, the sky had started to brighten. Zong Ye gently comforted Tuan Tuan, pulled Jian Ning's hand away, quietly slipped out from under the blanket, and then tucked Tuan Tuan back in.

Tuan Tuan poked its little head out from under the blanket, its round eyes filled with confusion as it looked at Zong Ye. Where did the big white wolf go?

Tuan Tuan couldn't sleep and kept wriggling in Jian Ning's arms. Jian Ning was awakened by this and rubbed his eyes as he lifted his head. He noticed that Zong Ye had already gotten up, leaving only a bedsheet. Yawning, he got up from the bed, began to fold the bedding—first his own and then Zong Ye's. Zong Ye's bedsheet was cool, as if it hadn't been slept in. He couldn't help but be surprised. How early did Zong Ye wake up?

After tidying up the bedding and while Zong Ye was still in the bathroom, Jian Ning contacted Terry to inquire about the situation at the academy being lifted.

Terry said, "That person was apprehended last night. The academy has already lifted the lockdown. You can come back now."

Jian Ning felt relieved after hearing this. Seeing Zong Ye coming out of the bathroom, he ended the communication and went in to freshen up.

When Jian Ning emerged from the bathroom, the adjutant had already brought breakfast. Zong Ye was tearing meat into pieces to feed Tuan Tuan and said, "Once you finish breakfast, my adjutant will take you back to the academy."

After finishing breakfast, the adjutant escorted Jian Ning back to the academy. Barely had the adjutant left when the butler, Abel, came to pick up Tuan Tuan.

"Master." Abel Looked around the hospital room, smiled with astonishment, and said, "Oh my, why are there two sets of beddings on the bed? Did you sleep with Young Master Jian last night?"

Zong Ye, adjusting his buttons in front of the mirror, was somewhat speechless at Abel's feigned surprise. "Don't do this again in the future."

Abel paid no heed and continued to smile as he asked, "How was your sleep last night?"

"Not great. You know I'm used to sleeping alone," Zong Ye said expressionlessly. "Take Tuan Tuan home. I'm going to the military headquarters."

"Oh my, Young Master, your injuries haven't healed yet. Why are you going to the military headquarters?" Abel stomped his foot, but Zong Ye had already left the room.

When Zong Ye wasn't paying attention, Tuan Tuan released Fei Yu. Fei Yu transformed into a mini ball and stealthily played with Tuan Tuan. Seeing Zong Ye leave, Fei Yu finally dared to come out. It flew over to Abel and said, "Butler Grandpa, don't listen to the master. He slept really well last night, even crawling into Ning Ning's blanket."
