In the living room on the fifth floor, there was a computer on the glass table in front of Sang Qi, displaying all the photos from Wen Zhi’s four years of university.

Wen Zhi sat on the carpet, facing everything from his university days with a sense of novelty.

He felt that his looks were excellent at every period of time, never having an ugly phase.

Jiang Xingnan brought a glass of fresh juice and handed it to Wen Zhi, “Xiao Zhi, drink the juice.”

Wen Zhi took it with both hands, “Thank you.”

Sang Qi looked at Wen Zhi with rare gentleness in his eyes. “How is it? My photography skills are not bad, right?”

Wen Zhi was grateful: “Yes, they’re good.”

Looking at Wen Zhi, Sang Qi got up and sat beside him, sitting with him cross-legged on the carpet. Seeing this scene, Jiang Xingnan stood still and silently lowered his eyes.

The rooms on the fifth floor were very luxurious, with multiple floors. The room on the first floor, where Wen Zhi and Sang Qi were staying, was a guest room with a very wide view of the sea, especially the bedroom, which had a 720-degree observation deck.

Wen Zhi said enviously, “When will I be able to live here with Si Si?”

Sang Qi’s voice was warm: “Actually, it doesn’t matter where you live. What’s important is who you live with. I don’t think it’s necessary to deliberately interact with each other to canvass for votes just because you want to live on the top floor. What do you think?”

Wen Zhi thought that Sang Qi had a point: “I think so too. As long as I can live with Si Si, I’m willing to live in a grass hut if necessary.

Sang Qi’s smile faded: “Have a glass of juice.”

Wen Zhi notices Jiang Xingnan in the next room and asks Sang Qi in a low voice, “Is Brother Xingnan your boyfriend?”

Sand Qi shook his head, “Just a good friend.”

Wen Zhi nodded and took out the USB drive. “Brother, could you help me copy these photos? I want to take them with me.”

Sang Qi replied, “No problem.”

The photos amounted to a whopping 50 GB, so it would take some time to copy them.

Looking at Wen Zhi, Sang Qi suddenly asked, “Xiao Zhi, do you not remember anything after high school?”

Wen Zhi: “Hmm, I don’t remember anything.”

Sang Qi nodded thoughtfully and suddenly sighed.

Thinking that Sang Qi was worried about him, Wen Zhi comforted him in a low voice, “It’s okay, I don’t think it’s important to regain my memories.”

Sang Qi looked at him with a meaningful gaze. “If in those memories, there was no deception or concealment, then losing them doesn’t really matter.”

Wen Zhi was stunned, “What do you mean by that?”

Sang Qi looked at Wen Zhi, showing an expression of pity: “The other day, I had a chat with Uncle Wen, he said that in the past few years, after the marriage between the Si family and your family, you have helped the Si family a lot and made a lot of sacrifices for the development of the Si family. But not long ago, Si Mingchen gave clear instructions internally that the Si family needed to cut off its cooperation with the Wen family as soon as possible.”

Wen Zhi opened his mouth, seemingly unable to accept such a thing: “But… Why didn’t my father tell me these things? Why did you tell me?”

San Qi raised his hand to rub Wen Zhi’s head, but Wen Zhi dodged it.

He said helplessly, “Uncle didn’t tell you this because he didn’t want to put pressure on you. When you married Si Mingchen, it was a business alliance in itself. Do you know that?”

Wen Zhi nodded: “Yes, I know.”

Sang Qi continued, “So, there were vested interests involved in your marriage. Si Mingchen’s second uncle, with such ruthless methods, how else do you think he could have seized power?”

Wen Zhi looked at the photos being transferred on the computer and his mood turned sour: “But even if that’s the case, what are you trying to tell me? That Si Mingchen is ungrateful? He doesn’t want to work with our family anymore?”

Sang Qi laughed lowly: “Xiao Zhi, you are too naive. Based on the memories you can currently recall, isn’t your Wen family in Jiangjing City among the top three in terms of wealth?”

Wen Zhi didn’t say anything, his eyes still drooping.

San Qi: “What about now? Your family’s company is not even ranked in Jiangjing, and you have to look at Si Mingchen. Uncle Wen seldom talks to you about these things because he is afraid that your relationship with Si Mingchen will be affected. To the Si family, the Wen family is not worth mentioning at all. But for your sake, Si Mingchen will occasionally give the Wen family some cooperation cases.”

Handing over the materials he had compiled in advance to Wen Zhi, Sang Qi instructed him, “You can take a good look at it.”

Looking at his family’s financial statements, which were declining year by year, and all the sources of income, Wen Zhi began to believe in Sang Qi’s words.

Sang Qi continued, “I don’t know the exact reason why Si Mingchen doesn’t want to continue to take care of the Wen family, but I heard that Jiang Chengshu has returned.”

The material in his fingers was slightly wrinkled as Wen Zhi remembered who Jiang Chengshu was.

After Wen Zhi fell in love at first sight with Si Mingchen, he often secretly inquired about all the news about Si Mingchen.

By chance, he learnt that Si Mingchen had already had a boyfriend, his childhood friend Jiang Chengshu.

Wen Zhi was heartbroken for a long time and often secretly wandered around the teaching building of the second year.

One time he bumped into Si Mingchen and Jiang Chengshu as they came out of the office together, holding their school books.

The image of the two of them talking and laughing is still engraved in his mind.

However, after he met Si Mingchen, he realised that there was nothing between Jiang Chengshu and Si Mingchen, they were just good friends.

“Does Jiang Chengshu’s return have anything to do with Si Mingchen’s change of attitude towards our family?”

In fact, Wen Zhi could guess why Si Mingchen was acting this way. He had even mentioned divorce to Si Mingchen, so Si Mingchen’s actions were normal.

Sang Qi looked at him meaningfully, “Xiao Zhi, don’t you know that Si Mingchen has been fond of Jiang Chengshu for a long time?”

Wen Zhi got up straight away, “He doesn’t like Jiang Chengshu, he likes me.”

Sang Qi walked over and patted his shoulder, “Don’t get worked up. Let me explain it to you slowly.”

Wen Zhi didn’t want to hear any more, his mood was getting lower and lower: “He said that he has liked me since high school.”

Sang Qi sighed, “Jiang Chengshu has always had poor health since childhood, and Mingchen has taken care of him, just like you and me. My cousin has a preference for gentle boys, and Jiang Chengshu is also good-looking, so Mingchen has been secretly crushing on him. There’s something you might not know. Mingchen and Jiang family had an engagement.”

“An engagement?” Wen Zhi asked in disbelief.

“Yes. Their families have a good relationship, and originally, they planned to register and hold a wedding banquet after Mingchen and Chengshu graduated from college. But an accident happened in Mingchen’s family, and to not burden Jiang Chengshu, Mingchen canceled the engagement.”

Wen Zhi was a little shaken: “They really had an engagement?”

Sang Qi nodded. “Actually, if you ask around, almost all the influential families in Jiangjing know about this.”

Wen Zhi felt an inexplicable chill running through his body, and every breath he took felt piercing.

“So, what you’re saying is that Si Si has been thinking about Jiang Chengshu, and it’s because Jiang Chengshu is coming back that he decided to cut ties with me?” Wen Zhi’s voice trembled, choked with emotion.

Sang Qi’s tone was filled with regret. “You know, Mingchen is my cousin, and I should have sided with him. But you’ve been my little brother since we were young, so I can only choose to stand on the side of justice. That’s why I told you all this today.”

Wen Zhi still couldn’t accept the truth, and his voice was choked with sobs: “But he said that he only had me in his heart.”

Sang Qi asked tentatively, “When did he say that?”

Wen Zhi: “Two days ago.”

Sang Qi thought for a moment, “”That makes sense. Think about it, if he only loved you in his heart, why didn’t you both stay in contact after high school? And why did he enter into a business alliance with you only when you turned 23? As far as I know, he recently ordered two rings from Jiang Chengshu. I don’t know if you remember.”

Sang Qi showed Wen Zhi a photo of the rings. “These are custom-made unique designs, currently displayed on the FT official website. The designer’s name is Jiang Chengshu. You can go and see it yourself anytime.”

Wen Zhi looked at the two unfamiliar rings and glanced at the ring mark that had never appeared on his own hand. His eyes grew increasingly red.

Sang Qi said, “Did you see the description on the web page? It says it’s an exclusive design for a good friend, Mr. Si.”

Wen Zhi closed his eyes and turned his head away, “I don’t want to see it anymore.”

Sang Qi looked at his pained look and gave a subtle smile.

As expected, he was still as easy to coax as he had been at the beginning.

“Now, the only thing I don’t understand is why Mingchen is suddenly so affectionate to you.” Sang Qi said with concern, truly considering Wen Zhi’s feelings.

“I heard that when Jiang Chengshu returned to China, he met Mingchen, and then quickly got engaged to the young master of the Zhao family. I don’t know what happened in between.”

Wen Zhi rubbed his eyes, “You mean Jiang Chengshu rejected Si Si again, that’s why he came back to me, right?”

Sang Qi whispered back, “I’m just guessing.”

Wen Zhi did not say anything this time, but took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling slightly because of the sadness.

Sang Qi handed him a tissue, “Don’t be afraid, no matter what happens, I will be by your side.”

Wen Zhi didn’t take the tissue that Sang Qi gave him, and his tone was unsteady: “I just want to find out why Jiang Chengshu has rejected him.”

Sang Qi asked, “Is that really important? Their love affair is undeniable with the engagement rings. Even if you figure it out, can you bear it when Sisi holds you but thinks of someone else? Xiao Zhi, this marriage has brought you too much pain. Since you married him, I’ve never seen you smile. Seeing you sad makes my heart ache too.”

Wen Zhi murmured, “Thank you for your concern.”

San Qi took the opportunity to come closer, “Xiao Zhi, my blood relationship with Mingchen is here, and I can tell you this because I value our friendship. I hope you won’t tell anyone about what happened today. Otherwise, it would be very difficult for me to behave at future family gatherings. If Mingchen finds out that I told you, I am afraid that he will do something to me. He is always hostile to me now and I am worried.”

Wen Zhi wiped away his tears, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.”

Sang Qi was relieved, “Thank you, I hope you can get out of your misery and find someone who really loves you.”

The photos on the USB drive had been transferred and then the voice of Jiang Xingnan came from downstairs, “Brother Qi, President Si has come to pick up Wen Zhi.”

Sang Qi tried to help Wenzi up, but Wen Zhi refused. Wen Zhi leaned on the sofa to stand up, visibly weakened. His steps were heavy and his head hung low as he descended the stairs.

Si Mingchen was waiting for him in the living room. When he saw Wen Zhi coming downstairs, he greeted him, “Let’s go.”

Wen Zhi nodded, his voice a little muffled: “Mm.”

As soon as Si Mingchen held Wen Zhi’s hand, he sensed something unusual.

He subconsciously looked at Sang Qi, who raised his eyebrows, “Just now, Xiao Zhi was looking at the photos from college and was feeling a bit emotional.”

Si Mingchen ignored him and led Wen Zhi away.
