I See Roses – Chapter 7

Liang Xian and the others finished putting on their protective suits and came out one by one.

“Why hasn’t Ming Si come yet?” Cheng Yu looked around.

“Can’t you wait for half an hour? Is it your first time meeting her?” Ke Lijie asked casually.

Luckily, they were used to Miss Ming’s dawdling, so they had plenty of patience and soon resumed chatting among themselves.

After a few minutes, Cheng Yu exclaimed, “Something’s not right! Did she faint? Liang Xian, give her a call.”

Liang Xian raised an eyebrow. “Why should I call her?”

“It’s an opportunity to improve your relationship with her,” Ke Lijie suggested.

Liang Xian snorted, seeming to think it was a bad idea, but he still took out his phone, “What’s her number?”

“…You know what, just message her on WeChat, it’s more convenient,” Cheng Yu replied, feeling exasperated.

Liang Xian put away his phone, “I can’t message her.”

Yu Chuan looked puzzled, “Why?”

Liang Xian chuckled, seemingly reminded of something, “She blocked me.”

Yu Chuan: “…”

It was hard to comprehend how he could still laugh about it.

Cheng Yu sighed in frustration, “I never imagined that your relationship could be so bad. How did I fall for those rumors back then? If you two get married, Ke Lijie would climb up a tree.”

Ke Lijie kicked him, “Get lost!”

Cheng Yu moved away from the kick but moved back with a bold idea, “Brother Xian, we all grew up together. Don’t you know Ming Si’s personality? If she’s angry, it only lasts for a short while. I have a great idea to break the ice between you two.”

Ming Si was a few minutes late because she had eavesdropped on the conversation near the wall. However, she found discussing this too boring and decided to keep it to herself.

The girls from the changing room also came out; they had carefully styled their hair and put on lipstick.

One bold girl walked up to Liang Xian directly and flirtatiously asked, “Hey handsome, did you come alone? Mind if I join you?”

In a way, even though there was nothing substantial between Liang Xian and herself, seeing this scene made Ming Si feel like she was emitting a faint green light above her head.1

She subconsciously glanced at Liang Xian.

For some reason, he hadn’t put on the protective suit and was still wearing his normal shirt.

His response was brief, his tone was indifferent. He didn’t even look at her, “No need.”

The girl didn’t expect him to answer like that and was taken aback.

Based on her previous speculation, a man with Liang Xian’s appearance should naturally attract admirers, so why would he refuse someone’s advances?

She didn’t expect him to be so cold-hearted.

The distance she felt when they first met wasn’t an illusion after all.

Cheng Yu wasn’t very interested in girls, while Yu Chuan was a serious person who never engaged in such behavior. In the end, only Ke Lijie had a demure companion in his car.

The club’s staff brought everyone’s cars to a nearby area. Ming Si was about to leave with Yu Chuan when suddenly Cheng Yu held her back.

“Yu Chuan’s car isn’t convenient for passengers today. Just wait a bit longer,” Cheng Yu lied shamelessly.

Ming Si didn’t see any reason why Yu Chuan’s car wouldn’t be suitable. Just as she was about to say something, she saw an Aventador abruptly stop in front of her.

Liang Xian was sitting in the car, one hand resting on the steering wheel, and he tilted his head to the side, “Get in.”

As soon as he spoke, Cheng Yu swiftly opened the car door and pushed Ming Si inside, then with a click, the sound of the door locking echoed.

Ming Si: “…”

These two people must have worked together as kidnappers or something, they cooperate so skillfully.

She crossed her arms and turned her head to look at Liang Xian, “What are you guys up to?”

Liang Xian raised his chin slightly, “Ask him.”

“It’s such nice weather, let him take you for a ride,” Cheng Yu said as he looked up at the sky. He realized that the sky had darkened a bit, becoming gloomy, which was quite unexpected.

Caught off guard by nature’s irony, Cheng Yu choked up.

“Yu Chuan drives at the speed of a turtle, not fun at all,” Ke Lijie quickly chimed in, teasingly, “Liang Xian is skilled and exciting.”

As soon as he uttered those words, the air fell into an eerie silence.

Cheng Yu’s expression was hard to describe, and his eyes seemed to say: Why are you so vulgar?

Ke Lijie: “…”

He really didn’t mean it that way!

Liang Xian remained silent and immediately stepped on the accelerator.

After driving about ten meters, Ming Si heard him remind her, “Put on your seatbelt.”

She glanced at him and fastened her seatbelt.

Cheng Yu quickly caught up from behind and raced alongside them, shouting loudly, “Brother Xian, want to have a race?”

Liang Xian lazily replied, “No need to race, it’s no fun beating rookies.”

Cheng Yu raised a middle finger to him, then stepped on the gas and sped away.

The opponents they would usually encounter at the club were absent today, so Liang Xian indeed had no interest in racing with anyone. Besides, there was also a precious young lady sitting in the car.

He tilted his head slightly and asked, “Want to go for a drive up the mountain?”

The club was located in the western suburbs; aside from the professional racetrack, there were also roads built along the mountains, perfect for people to enjoy the scenery and take a leisurely drive.

Since Ming Si had already gotten into Liang Xian’s car, she simply leaned back in the seat.

She nodded in agreement.

The car window slowly descended, letting the breeze rush in.

Suddenly, Ming Si spoke up, “Take off the car roof.”

Liang Xian raised an eyebrow and stepped on the brakes.

They hadn’t hit the racetrack yet, so as soon as the car stopped, the staff members ran over.

To maximize the aesthetics, the Aventador’s roof was designed to be detachable instead of having an automatic hardtop.

After removing the roof and storing it in the front storage space, it turned into a beautiful red convertible.

During this time, Ming Si returned to the dressing room and changed out of the protective suit.

With everything ready, the car continued on the road, turning in the direction of the mountains. The wind blew directly on their faces and the icy currents quickly swept across their skin.

The whole world seemed to quiet down, with only the whistling wind rushing in their ears.

Ming Si tilted her face upward and closed her eyes, feeling the pleasant sensation.

Her mind seemed to empty, and she didn’t think about anything else. The scenery in the mountains flashed by as she sat in the car, feeling as if she could take flight with the wind.

Ke Lijie wasn’t wrong; Liang Xian’s driving skills were indeed impressive.

They drove to the mountaintop and parked the car to take a rest. Liang Xian got out of the car and walked a distance away, lighting a cigarette.

Ming Si saw him standing by the cliff. The sun had disappeared behind the clouds by now, and the faint light fell behind him, making his tall figure and straight back even more prominent.

After a few minutes, distant thunder rumbled in the sky.

Ming Si took a few photos and sensed the change in the air. She put down her phone and noticed Liang Xian walking back.

“It’s going to rain,” he said, opening the car door and getting in. He pulled the seatbelt over with a click.

Ming Si, feeling a bit cold, hugged her arms and asked instinctively, “Will we get wet? Can you drive faster?”

Liang Xian replied, “There are many bends on the mountaintop; it’s dangerous to drive too fast.”

Ming Si frowned, letting out a disappointed sigh.

As soon as she sighed, Liang Xian lightly tapped his finger on the steering wheel and suddenly warned, “Hold on tight.”

Ming Si blinked.

The next second, the red supercar instantly accelerated, and the sound of the wind roared loudly in her ears.

Descending from the mountaintop, the car speed was much faster than before. However, the air became more stagnant. Ming Si instinctively took a deep breath and tightened her fingers.

Approaching the foot of the mountain, a few raindrops fell from the sky, followed by a torrential downpour.

Luck wasn’t on their side.

Amidst the chaotic sound of rain and fierce winds, Ming Si heard Liang Xian seem to say something, but with her breath stifled, she forgot to respond.

The red Aventador became almost like a blur in the heavy rain of the mountains, even in the curves, the speed didn’t diminish.

Outside the club, heavy rain poured down, while indoors, the atmosphere was bright with soft music, giving the illusion of two completely different worlds.

Ming Si sat on the sofa, taking the towel and hot tea handed to her by the staff.

She actually didn’t get too wet. Liang Xian’s car was fast enough; he drove straight into the parking area. Moreover, the Aventador’s design caused most of the rainwater to be thrown behind the car.

“Hey! We were all watching. In this terrible weather, on the mountainous road! Who would dare to drive at such a high speed? We were all worried for you,” said Cheng Yu, sitting on the sofa next to her. He handed a bottle of cola to Liang Xian on the opposite side, sincerely exclaiming, “Amazing! But why did you drive so fast? Showing off your driving skills at a time like this?”

Liang Xian took the can of cola, flicked the pull tab with his finger, and then let go.

He placed the cola aside and glanced over at Ming Si. Suddenly, he felt like teasing her, “Because we have a little sunflower that can’t get wet here.”

Ming Si was gently arranging her hair when she heard his words and glared at him.

Her facial features were attractive, bright, and not delicate. When she gave him that glare, it added a touch of charming liveliness to her.

“Sunflower, hahaha…” Cheng Yu chuckled a few times. Then, he slapped his forehead, “Right! Ming Si, don’t you hate rainy days the most? Today is really unlucky; it was fine at noon.”

Putting the towel aside, Ming Si sat in the dry indoor space and finally breathed smoothly.

She indeed disliked rainy days for a simple reason—she nearly drowned when she was six years old.

Perhaps that incident left a shadow; she always felt that rainy days gave a suffocating feeling, as if her nostrils were filled with moisture, very uncomfortable. Sometimes, it even made it difficult for her to breathe.

In the past, Cheng Yu and the others often teased her, saying she acted like a fish, feeling suffocated when it rained.

If she were a fish, she’d be a mermaid.

Ming Si didn’t bother arguing with them.

Yu Chuan sat down beside her and asked, “Are you feeling better now?”

Ming Si nodded, “Much better.”

The discomfort was mostly psychological. Being away from the wind and rain outside, she no longer felt uncomfortable.

“Speaking of that incident, Ming Si, who saved you when you nearly drowned back then?” Ke Lijie suddenly remembered something and turned to look at her, “Was it Yu Chuan?”

Yu Chuan: “It wasn’t me.”

Ke Lijie: “Then who was it?”

Ming Si: “…”

She cleared her throat lightly and unconsciously looked at the person sitting across from her.

Liang Xian happened to be looking at her too.

He was leaning against the sofa before, but now he sat up slightly, leaning towards her direction, with a hint of a smile in his eyes, “I almost forgot. It seems like it was me, right?”

Judging from his tone, it was impossible for him to forget.

“Oh, yes, yes, that’s right!” Ke Lijie remembered, “We were all playing on the beach at the time, and no one noticed. It was Brother Xian who reacted quickly and immediately jumped in without any hesitation…”

This timely side story came in handy. Liang Xian smiled with satisfaction and leaned back on the sofa again.

He gazed at Ming Si, his eyes lingering on her face for a moment. With a tsk, he said, “I sent you a video, and you blocked me. Is that how you treat your savior?”

In an instant, several pairs of eyes, like spotlights, focused on them, cooperatively expressing their criticism.

Ming Si clenched her teeth.

“That’s right! Both of you should stop it! Isn’t there live-saving debt between the two of you? Yet, you bicker every day!” Cheng Yu stood up abruptly, “Why can’t you resolve your issues properly through discussion? Ming Si, unblock Brother Xian immediately
