Possession (4)

People have hunches, and I had a very good sense of them. I sighed and opened my mouth, desperate because of the ominous premonition that I could feel coming. It was only this time anyway.

“How are you going to help me? You can’t hit her because she’s my friend. Plus, it’s best not to get caught, so it’s best for you to step aside.”

Seowoo, who smiled quietly, crinkled his eyes as he spoke. Who would’ve thought he was one of the Four Great Heavenly Kings? He’s handsome.

“Have you seen a movie?”

“Huh?”

“You know the scene where you pretend to be lovers and kiss to avoid getting caught?”

“…”

Seeing him say those words without a reaction, Seowoo smiled and approached me. It was when I gripped the strap of my bag, my guard high.

“Kang Sihyun!”

Dawoon’s voice got closer.

“Run!”

Suddenly, Seowoo grabbed my wrist. We started running in the direction where she came from. Since I had been dragged away, I was forced to run after him with an absurd expression. Two pairs of feet hit the ground.

Still, I thought that since Kang Sihyun was part of the track and field club I wouldn’t get embarrassed, but Yoo Seowoo was faster than me. He didn’t even fall behind. Rather, he slowed down to match my pace.

It was only after turning a couple of corners and entering a slightly darker alley with two forked roads did Seowoo let go of my wrist. Only then did I look at my wrist.

“I think it’ll be okay if we stay here. I didn’t leave any marks, did I?”

I was busy gasping for air since I was so out of breath, but Seowoo, who grabbed me and ran, was barely out of breath. Seowoo took care of my wrist as he spoke. I only nodded to reassure him that I was okay, before pulling back my wrist.

I sighed and leaned against the hard wall. Even though Kang Sihyun was a track and field member, Seeing Yoo Seowoo, one of the Four Great Heavenly Kings, in good shape was amazing. Or maybe it’s because Kang Sihyun is a sprinter, so his speed is excellent but his stamina is poor.

Well, it’s better than my original stamina, so I calmly took a breath. While Seowoo waited for my breath to return to normal, I looked outside, loosened my tight tie and bowed my head.

The March air reached my lungs as I breathed in, before everything subsided quietly to this new, mild feeling.

When I was hit by a car, it was winter, so the air was very cold.

After a short thought, I shook my head and climbed out of my thoughts. With my breathing becoming fairly calm, I moved towards Seowoo and looked around. I let out a sigh of relief after confirming that Dawoon was nowhere to be found.

“What’s going on?”

“The one chasing me?”

“Yes.”

“She’s just a friend.”

“Are you that scared of your friend?”

“…Something was wrong.”

Uh-huh. Seowoo hummed at my answer. I frowned, feeling uncomfortable at the way he looked at me.

“Why?”

“What?”

“You keep looking.”

“Um, nothing.”

He was just pretty. My expression crumpled at the strange addition. Seowoo let out a short laugh at how I was clearly reluctant to say anything without changing my expression. His faint laughter sounded like classical music.

“What are you going to do now?”

“What should I do? I should go to school. I appreciate your help.”

I could have run away alone in the first place. The platinum-haired boy just laughed. Swallowing a sigh to maintain my unwavering expression, I fixed my bag and nodded my head towards Seowoo.

Rather than helping, he only bothered me, but since I now had a debt, I decided to pretend to not know in the future.

“Thank you for helping me, but now we go our separate ways. We didn’t know each other anyway, so I think I’ll be more grateful if we pretend not to know each other in the future.”

I only spat out a thanks and a request before exiting the alley. It could’ve been a bit cleaner, but I was satisfied. Suddenly, a voice caught my step.

“Are you a freshman at the best high school?”

“…”

I stopped walking and stood tall as Seowoo casually named the school I hadn’t even thought about out of embarrassment.

I didn’t know that it was embarrassing to say someone else’s school name. No, even though Yoo Seowoo went to the same school.

“Why?”

When Seowoo, who shrugged his shoulders, pointed to my name tag, he answered with a frown at my intention to not be involved with him anymore.

A white name tag with the name ‘Yoo Seowoo’ came into view. I already checked it once.

“I’m also a student there.”

“Ah, right. I hope you like it there.”

“This must be fate. Would you like to go together?”

“No.”

Even if it was meant to be, it was clear that it would end up badly, so when I quickly denied it, Seowoo, whose expression didn’t change despite my rejection, moved his rep lips.

“I want to go with you, Sihyun.”

“…?”

My eyes widened at the sound of the syllable. Looking at Seowoo, wondering how he knew my name, Seowoo smiled warmly and tapped the name tag with the tip of his long finger. I looked at my chest.

‘Kang Sihyun.’

Come to think of it, I had a white name tag on my chest too.
