I Was A Supporting Character

Of course, Ares and I were ‘friends,’ and we always addressed one other by our given names, but Leah Saturnos insisted on it, and I had no choice. The intimacy I felt with Ares and Leah was lacking to consider them as friends. So I said to him coldly.

“You’re talking like I need to know who you really are.”

“Aren’t we friends?”

Haha, friend? You really don’t think of me as a friend, do you?

I stopped laughing and looked at Ares who was driving the carriage.

“I don’t believe we’re quite there yet.”

“You are the one who allowed me to refer to you by your given name.”

“That’s correct. However, everything is because of Lady Leah.”

He let out a sigh.

“Her again.”

I sighed as well.

To be honest, if it weren’t for Leah Saturnos, I doubt I would have ever sat next to him and rode in the carriage with him.

All of this was possible because of Leah, yet there was nothing to say.

It was thanks to her naivety. I had to admit that it was because of her that I got so close to Ares.

The carriage’s pace slowed down a little bit. The rumbling of the carriage and the clopping of hooves, both of which were irritatingly loud, gradually died down.

Ares’ words echoed softly through the dimly lit street, accompanied by the wind.

“Bianca. Can you explain why you always associate me with Leah?”

I laughed a little at his question.

That’s because you are the main couple in this novel!

The reason was very clear, but I couldn’t be honest. 

However, I chose to tell him a little.

“Ares, do you believe in fate?”

When I mentioned it out of the blue, his expression changed significantly.

“Of course. I believe it, but that doesn’t seem to be the answer to my question.”

“I see. You believe in fate…”

I could only muster the biggest grin for him.

“Then just think of it as fate.”

I sincerely hoped that he would be happy.

Fortunately, he had a happy ending thanks to the ‘author.’

It’s fortunate that the main couple had a happy ending despite the author’s preference for sad stories.

I’m upset that she had made my fate that way,but I’m glad she didn’t do the same to anybody else.

So shouldn’t I be unhappy? Shouldn’t I be unhappy when I was set to die so quickly?

Well, I don’t think so. Because happiness does not depend on how long our life is.

Shouldn’t I be happy to spend the time given to me?

The look on Ares’s face as he stared at me was confusing to say the least.

What exactly is he so concerned about? It’s his fate to be happy.

As if he had finally given up on further interrogation, he shook his head and grinned.

“Okay, I’ll consider it as fate.”

The carriage soon arrived at my family’s mansion. Because it was already dark on the street, I compelled him to return in my family carriage.

“Women are not the only ones who face danger at night. It’s a reward for accompanying me today.”

“You’re welcome. It’s natural for me to do so.”

Ares smiled as he stated this.

Wake up, it’s time to get out of the dream!

He took my hand according to the etiquette and kissed my hand.

“That was a lot of fun, and I hope we can do it again soon.”

“If the opportunity arises, I will gladly do it. Be careful and go back.”

My family’s carriage on which Ares rode moved away.

I let out a small sigh and returned to reality.

Is it okay if I tell him how I really feel? I’m not interested in becoming friends with him. I’m not interested in standing uncomfortably at his side in the name of ‘friendship’ while he falls in love with Leah.

Although I want him to be happy, I don’t want him to be happy in front of my eyes. I’m satisfied with hearing the news from time to time.

Even though I had a crush on him for a long time, I was well aware that I could never be his fated love. However, should I really feel sad? Numerous lords have declared their love for me!

Nonetheless, I’m hoping he wasn’t too friendly with me. If he really cares about me, he must act accordingly.

Thankfully, I was going to say goodbye to this world before I saw the depths of their love. Wasn’t that what the ‘author’ said? I’ll die right before their happy ending.

Anyways, today was a really wonderful dream.
