A few days later, in the early afternoon, I was heading to the magic tower.

Today was finally the day I was to give Erica a magic lesson. Originally, it was supposed to be in the forest, but due to the bad conditions of the weather, I had a room in the magic tower prepared.

Since I was wearing a robe along with a transformation spell, I was sure that no one would recognize me unless I happened to run into Theo or someone familiar.

When I eventually arrived, Erica was already in the room, and as soon as I took off my robe, she hugged me. She looked like an adorable little puppy, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Nina-san, it’s so nice to see you again….! Thank you for coming, I look forward to working with you!”

“I’m glad to see you too, Erica.”

It had been a little while since I last taught her, so I decided to start with a quick review.

“I see you’ve been practicing hard. You’re improving a lot.”

“Yes! Thanks to the notes Nina-san gave me!”

I was pleased to see that she was making good use of the notes I had worked night and day on. Even so, Erica was surprisingly good at handling holy magic.

Although she was still at a level where she could barely defeat F-rank demons, it was a big step forward compared to the days when she mistakenly cast enhancement magic on a slime.

We continued practicing for a few hours, and when I called out to her to call it a day, for some reason Erica began to squirm.

“What’s wrong?”

“Um, if you don’t mind, would you like to stay here and have tea? It’s a pretty bleak place, but there are chairs and tables, and I’ve actually prepared some things for you.”

Erica pointed to a large basket covered with a cloth. In fact, I had noticed its obvious presence in the room and its sweet, delicious fragrance from the moment I walked in.

Having no plans for the rest of the evening, I accepted Erica’s invitation, “Of course,” and took a seat. We set out the tea and sweets and began our little tea party. Today’s sweets were raspberry cookies, which Erica had made.

“It’s really delicious…! You’re really good at making sweets.”

“Thank you! It’s the only skill I have.”

“Do you make them often in this world too?”

“Yes. I-I wanted to go to the kitchen….”

“The kitchen?”

As I was tilting my head wondering what it meant, Erica looked around and said, “Actually,” and whispered in my ear.

“Um, I-I really like the young chef who works at the castle…”

“Eeehh?”

I couldn’t help but let out a loud voice of surprise at Erica’s love interest, who wasn’t a capture target. He was a refreshing man five years her senior.

“When I was feeling down because I couldn’t help everyone, he made me some sweets. I was really happy when he told me that ‘a smile would suit Erica-sama the most’ and that he was cheering for me….”

Since then, Erica had been visiting the kitchen to see him and regularly made sweets with him. It was just too cute a story to not be thrilled just listening to it.

“He must be a very nice person.”

“Yes! He is really kind and wonderful.”

Seeing Erica talking so happily and shyly warmed my heart. I really wanted her to be happy. The other party seemed to have feelings for Erica as well, as far as I could tell from the story.
