Judging by its size and the jewelry and other gold items wrapped around its body, it must be the leader of the herd. It seemed to have noticed my presence, and it raised the corner of its mouth into a sly grin.

Ogres were generally frightened of anything stronger than themselves, but they viewed a young human woman like me as nothing more than food.

Perhaps because the ogre thought I would be easy to eat, it lowered the rusted sword it was holding in its hand and came right in front of me. I guessed the ogre thought that its bare hands would be enough.

I thrust my hands forward and raised my voice at the same time as the ogre slowly reached for me.

“Holy Barrier Holy Shield.”

At that moment, the ogre’s body was trapped in a wall of bright, bluish-white light. To be honest, it was quite embarrassing to say the name of such an RPG-like technique, but it was important to put it into words in order to visualize it.

The ogre, looking puzzled, immediately began to cry in pain. For an ogre, a space made of holy magic would be like having their whole body poisoned.

Since it had been a long time and I wasn’t confident that I could defeat its huge body with a single blow, I tried to capture it for the time being. As I was about to defeat him, I heard Dirk’s voice calling me from behind, “Nina!”.

He looked a little anxious, but then immediately looked at the ogre and me, and looked relieved.

“I don’t need to worry about you at all, huh?”

“Yes, though, I’m not sure I could take that it down in one shot.”

Theo also came over and told us that this ogre was apparently the last one.

“Then I’ll take it down now. ──Purification Purge!”

I deployed a wide range of holy magic to match its giant body. The ogre’s scream grew louder for a moment, then it quickly melted away and disappeared.

After successfully subjugating all of the ogres, I let out a small sigh.

“All right, let’s pick up the magic cores and go home.”

“Yeah, that’s right.”

“Let’s spend our hard-earned money on some good food and drink! I heard that the fish dishes around here are delicious.”

“Fufu, how nice! I’m looking forward to it.”

We left the forest and headed for a nearby town. I changed only my hair color with transformation magic and wore a hood. The reason for this was because the two of them told me that they would feel uncomfortable if I changed my face.

After that, Theo, who was registered as an adventurer, exchanged the magic cores for money, and we had a good time at a nearby bar afterward.

I was just eating, but Theo and Dirk had been drinking a good amount of alcohol and seemed to be lightly intoxicated.

“After a hard day’s work, the food tastes so good, doesn’t it? And when you eat with the money you got from defeating demons, don’t you feel like you’re getting a free meal?”

“Yeah, I think I know what you mean.”

“You guys really haven’t changed.”

The three of us soon left the bar and walked side by side toward the place with the teleportation magic circle that leads to the royal capital.

“Nina, you keep the rest of the money.”

“What? That’s not right. Even after deducting the money from the bar earlier, there’s still a lot of it left.”

“It’s all right. We’re rich!”

“That’s true, but….”

Since I didn’t buy my own house, I still had the money I had been diligently saving since coming to this world. Even if I told them that, they wouldn’t listen to me, so in the end, I took the cloth bag and nodded.

“Then, with this money, let’s go out to eat together again.”

“All right! Let’s eat meat next time.”

“Yeah, sure.”

“Thank you, Theo, Dirk.”

I was so happy to be able to spend time together like this, just like the old days.

“We are very sorry. The teleportation magic circle is currently unavailable due to a malfunction….”

“Eh?”

“It will not be restored until tomorrow morning.”

“Seriously? What are we going to do?”

“I guess we’ll have to stay here in town.”

Somehow, we had become refugees.
