Chapter 7

The Bad Guy

I was grateful to the listeners who came to watch my live stream, even though I was just streaming aimlessly. Of course, I was also grateful to Miku and Ren. After all, just by them having sex, I could earn tens of thousands of effortless income!

With a smug smile, I returned to the supervisor’s office… but something was amiss. A guy with dyed light brown hair, styled sharply with wax, wearing a black t-shirt and a brown jacket, and a shiny gold necklace around his neck, was trying to get the attention of the supervisor.

“Hey, you’re cute! Are you alone? Did you have a heartbreak and start crying? If so, let’s grab a drink together!” he said.

“I’m not free,” replied the supervisor.

Ignoring the man, she took a sip of her cocktail. However, the guy persisted, moving around the seated supervisor and looking around restlessly. It seemed he had noticed something.

“Oh, wait a minute! You… don’t you look like Natsumin, the cosplayer?” he asked.

“Who’s that?” the supervisor replied.

The supervisor was accustomed to dealing with such people and brushed him off, but the man continued his advances without giving up.

“I can tell even if you’re hiding it. I’m a fan of Natsumin,” he said.

“I’m telling you, you’re wrong! Don’t casually touch me!” she snapped.

*Bam!*

Finally, the flashy guy reached out to touch the supervisor, and he ended up triggering her anger. She spat out a cherry seed from the cocktail onto the bridge of his nose.

“I like that feisty attitude! But once we get into bed, you’ll melt like butter for a handsome guy like me!” he said.

The guy wiped his face with his hand, approaching the supervisor, while the bartender hurriedly reached for the phone receiver. I sighed and put my hand on my forehead, wondering why these flashy guys always seem to appear around me. And the idea of getting into bed with someone who clearly doesn’t want it is just ridiculous.

I stepped in between the supervisor and the guy, and in a low voice, I declared, “You’re quite something, bragging about being handsome. But my girlfriend considers your heart a garbage dump, as evidenced by the seed you just spat out. So, wake up to that reality.”

The supervisor vigorously nodded and agreed with my words.

“What? Girlfriend? Hah! Don’t lie. If you’re gonna lie, at least come up with a better one,” the guy retorted.

He stood up from his seat, preparing to throw a punch, swinging his fist upward. But I swiftly avoided it by throwing my jacket over him. The guy’s face collided with the counter, and he slumped to the ground.

The bartenders and staff came over, dragging the unconscious guy away and making him sit on the sofa. Soon, a police officer arrived and took him away. The shop and other customers confirmed that I hadn’t laid a hand on him, so I faced no charges. Compared to dodging bullets in a survival game, avoiding someone rushing at you was too easy for me.

Once the police left, the shop regained its calmness. The supervisor, who had shown a strong side earlier, whispered, “How many times has Yuzuki saved me?” She leaned into me, leaving me completely puzzled as to what to do in this situation. What am I supposed to do in moments like these?

As I stood there bewildered, the bartenders and other customers sent silent messages, urging me to “embrace her.” I was at a loss for how to handle it. Despite her brave facade, she was still

a woman. Although she didn’t show signs of fear, I could feel her trembling subtly. Without thinking, I tightly embraced the supervisor.

And then, as if feeling completely relieved, her trembling subsided.

――――Huff, huff♪

――――Big brother, you’re so cool!

――――Let me treat you to a drink!

――――You two make a great couple.

Not only did I receive a thunderous applause from everyone in the shop for protecting the supervisor from that pushy playboy who had ruined the cheerful atmosphere, but I also felt embarrassed. And they even mentioned that the supervisor and I looked good together… Seriously?

During work, the supervisor, Emiko, Itō, and even the idol-level cosplayers like Kazanaguchi Shiero, discreetly went about their business. Apparently, even game event organizers asked the supervisor if she would cosplay as a character for them, but lately, she had been turning them down, citing her busy schedule.

We settled down at our seats and enjoyed the thoughtful gesture of the customers, who treated us to special cocktails instead of regular drinks. By now, Ren and Miku were probably entering the third round. Just because Miku was being seeded by Ren, I inexplicably received 1,000 yen worth of in-stream donations. It made me laugh.

Suppressing my laughter, I asked the slightly tipsy supervisor, whose cheeks were turning rosy, “Have you ever been cheated on, supervisor?”

“I haven’t been cheated on, but I’ve met some awful guys,” she replied.

“What kind of guy was he!?”

Their conversations usually revolved around airsoft and cosplay, and the supervisor didn’t seem to be eager to talk about her dating history. It unintentionally piqued my curiosity.

“Well, he seemed nice at first glance, but he didn’t give a damn about understanding other people’s feelings.”

“That’s terrible! What a scumbag.”

A guy who couldn’t understand other people’s feelings… just like Ren and Miku right now!

“Yeah, there’s no doubt… Even though I’ve been signaling him since he joined the company, he never noticed. And yet, he acts all friendly and always comes to my rescue when I’m in trouble. He doesn’t give a damn about me at all. It’s really irritating.”

The supervisor downed her cocktail in one gulp, even though it wasn’t a strong one. He must be a truly awful guy.

“What kind of person is he? Supervisor, I’m starting to get really pissed off.”

“I feel the same way when I think about him. Sometimes I can’t sleep at night just from thinking about him, and I end up coming to work sleep-deprived.”

“He’s a despicable person for stirring up your emotions!”

“Yeah, exactly.”

“If he’s someone from work, then I’ll give him a piece of my mind!”

“No need for that. After all, he’s right in front of me. His name is Reizuki Rintarō.”

What!? Huh!?

“W-What, Supervisor!?”

The supervisor looked at my face and chuckled softly.
