Currently, I was inspecting the town of Sutrena on the frontier with Lord Nazel.

This time we were riding a blue wyvern around a little out of the way, not in the center of the territory, leaving the city with its forts and mansion and heading toward the towns and villages on the eastern side of the territory.

Below us were pastures for livestock and horses. Many of the people in the area are in the livestock business.

Beyond the pastureland is a forest inhabited by magical beasts, so this is another place where there is a lot of damage.

Some of the houses and fences had been destroyed, and there were traces of the damage in many places.

"Nevertheless, it was all green. It's all pastures and forests, Lord Nazel."

"Yes, it is. It is a rare sight in this country to see nothing but pastures and no fields."

Sutrena, located in the south of the country, has a relatively mild climate and although it is difficult to produce crops, there are plenty of bushes and weeds.

Lord Nazelbert is currently developing a plant that will improve the soil itself.

I came here today for a different reason, though.

We visited a village that produces Pegasi, the heavenly horses.

Recently, there has been a lot of damage from magical beasts, and there is no end to the number of attacks on cavalry beasts.

Cavalry beasts are very valuable and are traded at a high price, but it takes a lot of time and money to raise them.

Since there are deals to be made with the state and the nobility, we cannot afford further damage to the beasts.

They are an important source of income for the territory.

"Thank you very much for bringing them here. You're a good boy."

When the wyvern landed on the ground, the villagers rallied to greet us.

Still...... it's embarrassing to be held by Lord Nazel every time I get off the wyvern. I'm getting used to it, and I think it's about time I got on and off normally.

Looking around, I see a lot of fences and stables.

The pegasi enclosure was wooden and had a ceiling to prevent him from escaping from the sky.

But there are several damaged sections. They must have been broken by the magical beasts living in the forest.

Looking at the fence, one of the villagers said.

"There used to be a guy who could use material weight reduction magic. He managed to repair the fence, but he got old and passed away. After that, no one could handle magic that could be useful for repairing the fence. Since this village is full of old people, it was hard to find enough help, but we didn't have money to hire someone to help us."

They are trying to repair as much as possible, but the fences themselves are so dilapidated that they are being torn down every time they are repaired, and they can't keep up with the repairs.

"So, my lord, is it true that you can get a sturdier fence?"

"Yes, my wife and I will be repairing the fences in the village today. And of course, the stables."

So, we'll get to work right away.

However, since Lord Nazel is excellent, my job is relatively easy.

Lord Nazel plants the sturdy plants he has improved around the fence, and I cast a material reinforcement spell on them.

That was it.

"Grow big!"

The few leaves allow sunlight to penetrate and create a well-ventilated fence.

We followed the same procedure to strengthen the fences here and there, and by mid-afternoon our work was complete.

The rest seems to be the work of the magical beast extermination team. Tony can be seen among the exterminators.

...... looks like he's doing some serious work today.

And so, after a few days of visiting various places, we returned to the mansion.

When we walked in the front door, Kelly and all the servants greeted us with smiles. The mansion is looking more beautiful every time I see it.

"Lord Nazelbert, I have a letter for you from the royal capital."

Lord Nazel's expression clouded slightly as Kelly handed him the envelope.

"...... this is from the royal family."

Lord Nazel pulled me by the hand and headed for his workroom. I followed him quietly, with my head down.

The workroom is tidy and ready for use.

It had originally been a storage place for a collection of mysterious naked statues.

Since all the statues were of the same person, Kelly and I were wondering, "Could it be the former lord?". After consulting with Lord Nazel, I was banned from the room until the statues were removed. He said, "It's a hazard to Agnes's eyes."

I'm relieved, though, because we've already sold everything. They sold for a lot of money because they were gilded.

Lord Nazel quickly opens the envelope and looks over the letter.

He is silent, but his expression is ...... somewhat cold.

"Agnes, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but it concerns you too."

"Oh, yes."

I wonder what it is. I am afraid to ask, though, when you put it that way up front.

"I received an invitation from the second prince to a garden party. He's asked me and my wife to attend."

"A party? I hate to say it, but is it okay to invite us?"

The fact is, even though he is innocent, Lord Nazel is treated as a criminal in the royal capital.

Inviting Lord Nazel to a party would probably be a source of displeasure for the king.

But the host of the party is the second prince..... could it be...

"It seems that a division has been formed between the princess's faction and the second prince's faction, doesn't it? The second prince seemed to be indifferent to this kind of thing until now."

If anything, I got the impression that he didn't want to get involved in power struggles and was trying to keep his presence out of the picture.

I have been to his engagement party, but even there I feel like I was with a not-so-powerful young baron.

Although Duchess Adams Gomez was said to be the most likely candidate for his fiancée, they didn't seem to be that close to each other.

Maybe the duchess is keeping her distance from the second prince because of the queen's opinion.

The queen seems to have avoided taking in the second prince because she hates children who are not of her blood.

"I'm not sure if the second prince was spurred on by someone or if he has other intentions ...... In any case, I can't say for sure without meeting him. The location doesn't seem to be the royal capital, it'll be the residence of a nobleman I know."

"Will Lord Nazel be attending?"

"I'm sure we can't ignore the prince's summons. Agnes, you don't have to do this. Some of the participants are people you probably wouldn't want to meet."

"No, if Lord Nazel is heading there, I will go with you."

I'm sure Lord Navel too is feeling burdened by having to go to this party.

I will not be a coward and run away.

"I am Lord Nazel's wife."

Smiling, Lord Nazel stood up and locked me in his arms from behind the chair.

......Haven't I been getting a lot of hugs lately?
