Chapter 42 – The Princess’s fiancée is running amok (Julian’s Point of View)

In the royal palace of the country of Desnim, another incident was taking place today.

"Y, you! How dare you lay a hand on Lilianne!"

The one shouting in the corridor was Torre Tolbert, a nobleman's son. A member of the Knight's Order, he is a muscular, strong young man who was about to get married.

The man Torre holds by the collar is Robin, a troublemaker at the royal court and the princess's fiancée.

He has wheat-colored skin and a chiseled, sweet face. Droopy eyes that seem to attract women.

Robin knows his weapons well and uses them to woo unsuspecting noblewomen. And he only went for the good-looking, young girls. There are rumors that he even has his hands on married women.

"I didn't do it, I did not do it. I didn't touch her. Lilianne was the one who came to me."

"Don't be ridiculous! Lilianne is quiet and honest ......"

"P-Puhahaha! Are you serious? Do you think so? You don't have the slightest clue, do you?"

Can't you contain that commoner-like way of speaking, even if you are talking to a nobleman of higher rank?

Has this country gone crazy that this is the princess's fiancée?

"Lilianne was suffering, you know? She's a cheerful girl by nature, so it was a burden for her to continue to wear the skin of a quiet ladylike woman. And yet, her fiancé is such a naive man who appreciates the quiet side of her that she was made out to be. Super sad."

Robin shakes himself deliberately. Torre, exasperated, involuntarily raises his fist. But ......

"What are you doing! Stop it!"

Approaching with a trot from across the corridor was his fiancée, Lillianne.

Her chestnut-colored hair, loosely braided, waves and sways with every movement.

"Lilianne!"

"Lord Torre, it's terrible you're attacking Robin!"

"This is different!"

"Listen, Lillianne. This guy is dangerous, you know? He grabbed me out of nowhere."

It is inexcusable that a bastard child of a baroness, who until recently was a commoner, should call Lilianne, the countess, without honorifics!

Again, Torre's blood rushes to his head.

"It is because you have laid your hands on someone else's fiancée, isn't it!?"

Although Torre is a nobleman, he is the third son of a knight and has been brought up in an environment that is all about fighting.

He is planning to marry Lilianne and join her family.

Torre, who lacks thoughtfulness and whose body moves before he can think, and Robin, who has a sharp tongue, are not the best of friends.

Lilianne exclaims as Torre puts his hands on Robin's shoulders and shakes him roughly.

"Violent men are the worst! Lord Torre, I hate you!"

Lilianne grabs the hem of her dress and turns herself around.

"Wait, wait, Lilianne! Lilianne!"

But she ran off down the hallway without looking back at Torre.

"This is the third one this month! A nobleman's catastrophe! All of them involve Robin, what's going on!"

Julian Frorescence had his head in his hands at the ducal villa.

His friend Torre had rushed into the house crying, saying that his fiancée had dumped him.

"Ugh, I think I'm going to end up like your brother. Julian......"

"Cheer up, Torre. You haven't broken off the engagement yet, have you?"

"But it's only a matter of time. Lilianne is crazy about that weasel."

"I hear that there are several similar daughters. I hear that his magic is not the enchantment type, though."

"I've heard it's different too, that it's holy magic. I've also heard that it can use two kinds of magic, whereas normally you can only use one kind. I don't know the details, but he seems to have a lot of magic power."

Julian wonders if Her Royal Highness is okay with letting Robin go free like that.

He was sure she was quite fond of Robin since she broke off her engagement with that perfect brother of theirs.

...... he's probably skilled with his words.

"This is the time for the Tolbert family to abandon the Princess' and Queen's faction."

"How can you ask me to do that? When the House of Florescence is in the Queen's camp."

"But yours isn't. The power of the second prince is growing rapidly. I'm going to join him soon."

Julian silently took Torre's hand.

"I thought it would do so. There is someone I would like Julian to meet. I met by chance, but would you like to come to the royal palace next time?"

"I'll come to the palace."

Torre's proposal was something Julien could not have hoped for.

However, his next words raised an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry to hear that Lord Nazelbert is marrying the potato lady. It seems there are a lot of second daughters who want to be his consort, so hopefully, they'll get a divorce."

"..... brother will not divorce. He is not a person who chooses to divorce easily, and their marriage is not bad."

"You're lying! It's that Potato Lady!"

"Have you ever seen what's underneath that makeup?"

"Under that monstrously weird makeup? How could I?"

"The pot...... sister is an extremely beautiful woman. I'm not even sure Her Royal Highness the Princess could compare. Also, she has a great personality."

"What?!"

"I'm sure brother is over the moon after breaking off the engagement."

A few days later, the social circle was abuzz with information from participants in a party hosted by the second prince that "the potato lady was a beautiful woman."
