I’ve Been Exiled, But I’m Alive and Well - Chapter 127

Why is the daughter of a Prince working at an inn? I wanted to ask her that, but Ewelynne's expression turned dark.
She can't possibly have been kicked out of ther home for some reason, right?
If that's the case, I don't think Uzette and the other maids would follow her, and I don't think Prince Blanche would tolerate her hiding out in Arburn.
It's hard to believe that Lady Margaery would agree to send her away in the first place.
But it's best to put concerns to rest.

“You surely weren’t kicked out of your home, right?”
“Ah, no… that’s not it.”

I was relieved when Ewelynne shook her head.
She doesn’t seem to be like me.
In a gentle tone of voice to make it easier for her to answer, I asked, "Then why are you working at the inn?” Biting her lip tightly, Ewelynne shifted her gaze from one place to another and then looked into my eyes.

“Because I don’t want to stay there…”
“You don’t want to stay there, you say…”

The Prince and Noble Consort of Blanche, who are politically married, are not on the best of terms. The Prince’s mansion also had a somewhat cold atmosphere. Still, it was a mansion that Ewelynne had fond memories of with her beloved mother.
What does it mean that she doesn’t want to stay there?

“Have you perhaps ran away from home?”
“That’s not it either. My Father knows that I’m still in Arburn.”
“I see…”
"In exchange for allowing me to leave the residence, my Father has entrusted me with the management of Arburn.”

I guess that's why she was working at the inn, to check on Arburn.
I'm not sure what the Prince was thinking when he entrusted the management of the Capital city to a girl who was only sixteen years of age.
If it was a small town, I could understand, but this is the largest city in the Principality.

"It's been two months since I left the residence. I've been trying my best, but... it's not going so well."

I guess that’s why there had been so many problems at Arburn. I don't know what happened to her, but I guess she was suddenly put in charge of the governance. No matter how excellent she is, there’s no way she can govern Arburn on her own. When I patted Ewelynne’s depressed head, she said, "It was shameful of me to receive your assistance, Big sister Elle.”
I don't remember helping her, though.
When I tilted my head in confusion, she smiled back.

"It's about the back alley commotion."
"It's about the bug problem, I see. I didn't do anything, though.”
“Hearing that the problem was caused by the negligence of the guards, I… ah, ermm.”
"You were the one who was eavesdropping on my conversation with Giselle, huh.”

I thought it may be her because of the familiar presence, and it seems that I was correct. Ewelynne said, “I apologize.” with a apologetic expression on her face. It's not like she did it on purpose, given her personality. Even if it was on purpose, I can't blame her.

“Don't worry about it. You are the one who had the magical tools installed in the alleyway for surveillance, then?”
"Yes, the crime in the alleyways has been reduced!”
"I'm relieved to know you were so quick to respond.”

I didn't think it would be so easy to solve the problem just with our own conversation. Giselle, who must have understood everything, showed a look of relief.

“You are indeed incredible, Big sister Elle…”
“It was Giselle who gathered the information.”
“Both of you are great.”

Ewelynne, who showed a smile, immediately returned to a gloomy expression.

“Umm, Big sister Elle, I have a request…”
“A request?”

I feel that the current me doesn’t have the power to help with Ewelynne’s matters. No, I can give her advice if it’s just that. I’m not sure if I should be sticking my neck into her matters.
When I looked at her holding my hand, she looked as if she was about to cry.

“Big sister Elle, I beg you. Please save my Mother!”
