We started building the house right away from that day.

But there is only so much I can do...

We had some wood to use as a material, but not enough to build the house, so we had to ask my grandfather to cut some wood for us.

But freshly cut wood is too wet to use right away, so we'll have to figure out something to do with it.

I don't know if I can do it, but I hope I can either use water magic to manipulate the moisture and make it dry or use fire magic to evaporate the moisture.

For now, I'll have my grandfather cut down the trees tomorrow, and today I decided to look for a place to build a hut.

My grandfather, the two of us, and the squires left the forest.

Outside the forest was a grassy field and the view was very good.

But the vantage point was so good that if they built a hut, it would be quite conspicuous.

''Where would you like to build a hut?''

Well, I suppose you could build this anywhere, and it would be near the river.

But the river seems a bit far, doesn't it?

Then why don't we dig a well?

Normally you can't drill a well. Then, I guess it's still near the river.

After a short walk, we saw a river. It's probably the same river that runs near my grandfather's house.

The view around the river is also good. I wonder if there is any way to hide the house?

'This is as good a place as any.'

He stopped in the middle of a grassy field some distance from the river.

'Are you going to build it here?'

The closer you are to the river, the more likely it is to flood. Besides, we can hide them in a ward anyway.

Wards, like a forest?

That's about right. This one is not to hide anything, but just to make it harder to find.

...What do you mean?

The forest boundary was meant to keep people out and make the house invisible, but this one should be less repellent and the house should be hidden behind a rock.

You can do that? I mean, why would you do that...?

Warding is not so difficult to achieve. And it's strange that you live so close to the forest and you can't see the house. Therefore, you must keep it hidden.

Come to think of it, it was. It was a house for my sister, but it was also a house for camouflage.

That's right. Then what do you want me to do?

Well, the ground is very soft around here, so I guess we can start by using ground magic to harden it.

'Harden the ground? ........I'll try it anyway.

Then I crouched down and put my hands on the ground.

I poured the magic power into the ground to make the ground harden. It's a good idea to harden the ground so that there are no gaps between the soil when thinking about pouring magic power into it.

After a little while, the ground is hardened from around the hand. Then, the range is gradually widened.

Is the depth of about one meter okay?

Is the range a little larger than a forest house?

I almost ran out of magic on the way there, but it's easy to recover since we're so close to the forest.

''Is that about right?''

That's enough.

When the ground was thus prepared, it looked like a big hole had been made in the ground.

That's a good foundation. Now try sticking out some big rocks around it.

A large rock?

Use that rock to hide the house.

'Oh, I see. Then a cave or something would have been interesting.

Saying this, I put out a large rock around the hole. I'm not going to be able to get a hold of you.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a great deal more to say about it.
