Living With A Vampire

Chapter 11 - Christmas 2

"Fine, Fine," I said as I stepped back, trying to hide my red face. I rubbed my cheeks softly to make any redness disappear. As I did so, I heard Vincents chuckling in the background. I walked out of the door with Vincent behind me. We walked down the long sidewalk to the main gate, walking through it. I followed down a long path until it disappeared into the woods. We kept marching forward until we came to the end of the woods. We passed through the bushes, Vincent helped to make sure I didn't get my coat caught in the thorns.

Then we arrived at a huge field with a playground in the middle of it and a lake on the other side. "Sky? where are we?" he asked.

"Just keep following me" I responded and made my way out of the park and onto the sidewalk. There were little houses as we walked down the street. The further we went the taller the buildings have gotten and before we knew it, we were in the center of the town.

I knew the town very well since it was me and my mother's favorite place to go. Not only that, but our wonderful butler would sneak me out from time to time to let me see the technology evolve. I looked over at Vincent and his eyes were lit up with joy. Although, he stayed very close to me. Vincent would have never followed me if I told him we were going to town. He is afraid of technology and wants to stay away from it. I think me bringing more and more tech into the mansion made him slowly warm up to it.

"Do you like it?" I asked. He kept staring at the lights and then looked down at me "I love it. Thank you for bringing me here" he smiled. I chuckled, he was so happy, I love seeing him this way. We walked down the street slowly so he could look at every single light and decoration. He pointed to the light-up sleigh and reindeer on the roof of one shop. "I would love to put something like that on the roof of the mansion. I think it would look wonderful" he suggested. That gave me a strong thought. It was hard to give gifts to someone who already has. So, as Vincent's second gift I will decorate the roof of the mansion with something different but similar. I don't think we have a sleigh or reindeer to put on the roof, so I'll just but Mary Christmas in lights.

I nod to myself, confirming my amazing gift plan. Suddenly my arm was being pulled by Vincent and before I knew it we were running off. We stopped in front of a bakery that was closing in 30mins. I chuckled softly and made my way inside. Vincent stood behind me and just watched as I ordered a cheesecake for myself. I turned to Vincent "What do you want to eat?" I asked. Vincent was silent and nervous, it was his first time ordering. "Um... R-red velvet cake..." Vincent timidly said. I elbowed his side softly "P-please!" he yelled after I reminded him. I chuckled at how adorable he was acting.

The cashier nodded and rang up our order after I paid him. I pulled Vincent to a table and sat down as he sat across from me. "How are you able to order so easily?" He asked.

"I've done it a few times. It gets easier and easier every time" I told him. Vincent looked out of the window and stared at the lights shining through. It was a beautiful night and the perfect night to come here. Barely anyone was out this late so it didn't overwhelm Vincent. The waiter came up to us, placing our sweets down on the table. Vincent's attention quickly changed to the cake once he heard his plate hit the table. I slowly took a bite of the cheesecake as Vincent did the same to his cake. I could hear Vincent taking in a deep breath after his first bite "This is amazing!" he continued eating it and enjoyed every bite and so did I.

After we finished our desserts, I paid for the tip and we left. As soon as we stepped outside, snow started falling slowly. It was truly a beautiful sight, the snow, the full moon, the empty streets, and the gleaming lights. It felt like something out of a movie. I then felt hands grab my waist and quickly turned to see Vincent. He smiled down at me "Out of everything I see in front of me, no matter how bright and beautiful the lights are, I can't take my eyes off of you." He said and inched down closer to my face "Sky, I was stupid. I had the words of my father ringing in my head but... He is no longer here. I can decide on my own." he added. "V-Vincent what are you saying" I wanted to continue, but he placed his finger over top my lips. "All you need to know is that I love you. I love you more than anything else in the world".

Vincent pressed his lips against mine and my heart fluttered. This was everything to me, this was all I wanted. Now, I could die peacefully. I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened in the kiss. I loved him so much; I didn't have the words to express it but I had the actions. We pulled away for only a moment so we could catch our breath. "Will you be mine?" he asked while panting. "You already know the answer" I replied and kissed him on the lips once more. Tonight was officially the best night of my life, so far. "How about we head home? It's getting cold and I could feel you shivering" he said while taking my hand. I took him back home through the woods and back at the gates.
