Living With A Vampire

Chapter 17 - The Man

The drive to the man's house was silent. No one said a word. Once we arrive, he opened my side of the door and helped me out. The house in front of me was huge, but not as big as the mansion. It looked a little smaller than the mansion, and it was way more modern. The man started walking to his front door, so I followed him slowly. I didn't want to get close to him since I didn't know the actual reason he bought me. He opened the door up and turned to look at me. His hands made a gesture as if saying 'come in' but I stepped back. Every movement he made, I put my guard up to make sure he tries nothing.

Instead of pulling me inside, he went inside first and left me out the door. Why would he just leave me outside like this? I could just run away, and he'd lose so much money. I looked around and saw that we were in a very private location because of the woods surrounding us. Maybe that jerk knows there is no way of me leaving! what if he put traps all around the forest in case I try to escape? Thinking about all of this, I decided to just head inside and deal with it. I was hungry and didn't even know where I was. There was no way I could go back 'home' if I didn't know where it was. Although, after everything that has gone down; do I even have a home?

Hesitantly, I walked into the house to find an immaculate and organized living room. Everything was mainly black and white with a touch of yellow here and there. The man's taste was unique. If Vincent was born in modern times, I'm sure his house would look just like this. There was an L-shaped couch with a coffee table in front. A hanged flat-screen TV was on the wall facing the couch, and underneath the TV was a fireplace. I looked around until I noticed the man in the kitchen. There was no wall that separated the kitchen from the living space, only a long island with a white marble top. The man put on a white apron around his waist and pulled out stuff from the fridge.

I ambled over to the island and pulled out one stool underneath it. Carefully, I sat down and watched the man cook. Besides the sounds of the food sizzling and the man cutting up veggies, it was quiet. To replace the silence, I started a conversation "what's your name?" I asked. The man looked over at me with a blank look before turning back to the food, "Aaron and yours?"

Shocked that he replied, I took a moment before saying mine "Its Sky" I replied. The silence between us thickened once more, so I killed it again, "Why did you buy me?" Aaron was quiet and didn't answer so I kept going "What do you want with me? Are... you going to hurt me?"

Suddenly Aaron came over and placed two plates of food down "eat" he spoke. I went quiet and grabbed the spoon. What if he put something in it? It smells good though. I glanced at the other and he was eating his food as if I wasn't even there. He never once made eye contact with me or even glanced over. I looked back down at my plate that was filled with rice, veggies, and cut-up chicken. It looked so good, but I pushed it away. I didn't feel hungry, It's like my nerves were taking over my entire body. My mind was always running, my guard was always up, my body didn't have time to calm down and eat.

I sat there quietly until Aaron finished eating. He took his plate and washed it before coming back. He took my plate and wrapped it up with foil "You can always get it when you're hungry" Aaron said as he placed it in the fridge. He took off his apron and threw it in a white basket. He walked over to the stairs in the living room and gestured for me to follow him. I got down off the stool and made my way over to him. I followed him up the stairs and to a door "This is your room" He said. I opened the door and peeked inside. It was big, but not like my old room in the mansion. This one was more of a comfy size.

Once I walked inside the room I heard "Good night" and then the door closed. I walked around the room and explored everything. I checked the closet, which was empty, and I checked the dresser, which was also empty. There was a large TV that hung on the wall across from my bed, just like the one in the living. I moved over to the bed and sat down with an enormous sigh. I fell back and looked up at the ceiling. The grim room made me bring up memories I didn't want to see. It made me think about the time when Vincent and I would share the same bed. I remembered how he would hold me when I had nightmares. I rolled over and placed my head onto the pillow, still stuck in my thoughts.

If Vincent was here... I wouldn't feel like this... I wish I could go back in time and redo everything over. I want to meet him again... I want to feel him again. I grabbed onto another pillow by my head and squeezed it tightly as if it was my Vincent. I gave it a small kiss, thinking Vincent could receive it. I kept my eyes closed and contuined to cuddle the pillow because I knew if I opened my eyes I wouldn't see him...
