Lord of the Oasis

Chapter 774: Barely catching up by boat

As the sun set, the soldiers had already built a bonfire in front of the tent.

The coast of the island is not cold in this season, especially for soldiers who have been walking in the mountains and forests for several days.

Many people have rushed to the beach, in the name of catching fish, but in fact most of them went to play in the water.

DeWitt and others did not restrict the soldiers' relaxed behavior.

If they were in Dehreim now, Devitt and Clemont would have taken their soldiers to the tavern to have a feast.

But now they are just on their way home, which means that their mission as captains is not over yet.

In order to maintain this image in front of the soldiers. DeWitt and Clement just turned a blind eye to the soldiers' behavior.

The situation among the elves is very different from that of the humans. Abel came to the beach and was in great spirits. He is probably still having fun at the beach with the Elf soldiers.

In the huge camp, only DeWitt, Clement and a few soldiers standing guard were left.

The hour pointed towards midnight, and the night wind on the sea became bitingly cold. The soldiers returning from playing on the shore each held a few small fish in their hands. Go to the back kitchen and ask the cooking soldier to add them to tonight's menu.

Bamboo poles were set up on the bonfires in the camp, and the soaked cotton clothes taken off by the soldiers were hung on the bamboo poles.

Everyone gathered around the fire, waiting for their clothes to be dried, and looking forward to the delicious dishes served by the kitchen.

"It's been a long time since everyone has seen the sea bar." DeWitt said to Clemont as he placed the wine cup containing wine on the stove.

"If we can board the ship tomorrow. Then we will have to stay on the ship for four or five days." Clement responded.

DeWitt glanced at Clemont and said, "Four or five days are nothing. Before we came to this island, didn't everyone take a boat ride for about half a month to arrive?"

"I feel sick to my stomach when I think about those days," Clement said.

"Heh." DeWitt said amusingly: "Is this the only impression this sea has left on you?"

Clemont waved his hand to indicate that he did not want to speak.

Early the next morning, the soldiers heard the steamer's whistle in their sleep.

The moment Clemont heard the whistle, he immediately turned over and jumped out of bed. Putting on his cotton-padded clothes and boots, he ran to the place where the steamer docked and shouted loudly to the crew on the ship: "Wait for us! We want to get on the ship too!"

A siren stepped off the boat, looked at the camp not far behind Clemont, and said, "Okay. But you have to wake up your people quickly, we are about to sail."

"Okay, thank you." Clemont nodded and immediately turned around and ran towards the camp.

While waking up DeWitt, he hurriedly got dressed. Before Clemont walked out of the camp tent door, he said to DeWitt, who was still sitting on the bed: "Go and wake up the other soldiers. I will inform DeWitt and the others."

DeWitt also got up immediately after reacting. Ask the soldiers who have already gotten up to help wake up the soldiers in their respective squads.

A group of people from the reconnaissance team gathered sleepily in front of the steamer before they had time to wash up. Clemont rushed over from the other side of the coast with Abel and others.

"Come aboard," the Kraken crew member greeted.

Calradian soldiers followed the crew onto the deck. The elven soldiers followed behind them and also stepped onto the ship.

"Where are you going?" A Kraken crew member walked out of the cockpit and asked the reconnaissance team and others.

"To the harbor," DeWitt replied simply.

"Okay." The crew member nodded and said, "Fifty silver per person."

"In total, Calradia needs ten gold coins." Clement made a calculation in his mind and said to Devitt.

"Just use it. It's the last leg." DeWitt responded.

Clemont looked at him in surprise and said: "But we only have five gold coins with us.

"

"What?" DeWitt said, his eyes widening.

"Didn't I tell you last night? We don't have much money left." Clemont continued.

DeWitt thought about what happened last night: Clemont did say such a thing to him.

Clement is in charge of the coins in the team, and DeWitt usually doesn't care much about this issue. I didn't expect to be so embarrassed.

DeWitt and Clemont pinned their last hope on Abel and looked to Abel for help.

Abel sighed in his heart again. Ever since he stayed with these two people, he didn't know how many times he had sighed.

Abel took out the money bag in his arms, nodded and mouthed: "I'll pay."

"Thank you," DeWitt whispered.

"Do you have money?" the crew member looked at the eyes of these three people and said.

"Yes, yes, yes!" Abel quickly replied. Twenty gold coins were counted from the purse and handed to the crew.

The crew member took the reward in his hand, counted it again, and said, "Okay, the cabin is below. Just go down and find a free bed."

"Down here? Can't we live in these places?" Clemont asked doubtfully, pointing with his finger to the guest cabin next to the driving cabin.

"No." The crew member returned to his post without further explanation.

DeWitt frowned and walked towards the underground cabin that the crew said.

It turned out that in such a large space, people's beds were close together.

"Why can't we live up there?" a soldier complained as he looked around the cabin.

"The humidity here will be very heavy," another soldier said.

DeWitt and Clemont organized Caladia to sit on their respective beds and put down their luggage.

This 'cabin' is estimated to have beds for about two hundred people.

The beds of Calradian soldiers were grouped together. However, some homeless people were already living in some of the beds around them.

"Is this your first time taking this boat?" a homeless man asked.

"Yes." Clemont nodded and replied, "We are going to the harbor."

"Most of us also go to the harbor. Who introduced you to this place?" asked the homeless man.

"The owner of an inn at the foot of the volcano." Austinger replied.

"The crew on this ship charged us so much money and let us live here. It's really too dark." A soldier said angrily.

The homeless man smiled and said: "That's not what you said. The crew members risked their lives to run this business."
