Chapter 70- Soul Speech Orb Part 1

Translated by Snowfall77

Staring at the strange red silk, Xia Ge suddenly had goosebumps from head to toe.

She couldn’t even get through the formation on a door, how exactly was she supposed to deal with seemingly sentient red silk?

Still, Xia Ge decisively floated over to the red silk, grabbing the part that was raised like a head.

Like a well-behaved child, the silk bowed its ‘head’ as soon as Xia Ge gripped it, the precursor to an amusing scene that played out in the luxurious private room.

A tiny paper person struggling to drag a longish piece of red silk over to the soft sofa, before coldly and vigorously pushing the silk under an ornamental pillow on said sofa.

Having expended a great deal of effort to shove the silk out of sight, Xia Ge tried to figure out what to do next.  Unexpectedly, the red silk extended its ‘tail’ from under the pillow to gently caress Xia Ge’s paper cheek.  Then it gracefully and very slowly slid back under the pillow, safely tucking itself away.

Xia Ge: “……”  Oh, you’re quite polite, aren’t you?

After the silk hid itself, Xia Ge felt her paper body growing warmer.  A second later, with a ‘pu’ of white smoke, Xia Ge was back in her original body.  Without thinking, she yanked a blanket off the sofa and tightly wrapped herself up, before next taking her black clothes out of her silver ring.  Once dressed, Xia Ge went back to the door and, as expected, now that she no longer a ‘paper person,’ the door opened as soon as she pushed on it.

In a hurry to leave, Xia Ge had neglected to put on her stilts.  Hearing a ‘swish,’ Xia Ge felt something abruptly wrapping around her bare ankle.  She paused, closed the door with a small ‘pop,’ and lifted her worn cloak to find red silk encasing her snow-white ankle, apparently reluctant to part with her.

Was this the same enormous piece of red silk that’d been so bashful before?

Now that she was back to her normal self, the red silk that’d appeared so intimidating earlier was now nothing more than a mere thin red ribbon, rendered completely nonthreatening.

Xia Ge: “……”

What’s this piece of crap doing?

Pulling the red ribbon off her ankle, Xia Ge asked it: “You want to follow me?”

The red ribbon energetically nodded its ‘head.’

Xia Ge snorted, lips curving up in a malicious smile: “Alright, but before that, how about we play a little game?”

The ribbon wildly nodded at Xia Ge’s words, apparently full of unquestioning trust.

A couple of moments later, Xia Ge eyed in satisfaction the red bow prettily tied about a leg of the small table, clapping her hands before effortlessly retrieving the bronze mask from her ring: “Very nice-looking, it truly suits you.”

The rather foolish red silk merrily waved one of its two bow tails.

“Mm-hmm, really beautiful.  Well, let’s meet again soon.” Xia Ge waved a goodbye.  The movement of the red silk paused for a second, before erupting into a fierce struggle against the bowknot Xia Ge had put it in.  However, Xia Ge had tied it quite tightly and the silk couldn’t free itself.  Gleeful, Xia Ge opened the room door again, saying to the red silk: “Tsk-tsk, if you can’t untie yourself, you can’t follow me……”

But then Xia Ge’s neck abruptly stiffened and she desperately tried to slam the door back shut!

Events did not proceed as she wished, however.  The cloaked person, wearing an oddly familiar conical bamboo hat, pressed a hand on the door, easily preventing it from closing, and sliding their body sideways into the private room.

“Ah, I’m very sorry, I came into your room by mistake.  I’m leaving right now, actually……”

Going ‘haha,’ Xia Ge endeavored to hide her embarrassment at trying to slam the door on the room’s rightful occupant just a second earlier.  She also tried to slip past the person and out the door like nothing had ever happened.  Unfortunately, her shoulder was very firmly grasped before she could make her getaway.

Expression woebegone, Xia Ge protested tearfully: “I really didn’t mean to……”

The cloaked person didn’t speak, simply eyeing Xia Ge as if puzzled by her outfit.  While Xia Ge finally registered where she’d seen that hat before.  This was the same spendthrift cloaked person who’d bought her Bigu dan for one hundred medium-grade spirit stones!

Subconsciously trying to cover her own cloak, Xia Ge became distinctly vigilant: “I don’t sell my clothes for money!  Or myself!  Bah, no, I mean, I’ve already spent all the spirit stones you gave me!  No refunds!”

The cloaked person, ostensibly taken aback by Xia Ge’s declarations, took a minute to finally speak in a low voice: “Don’t leave.”

Xia Ge’s cautiousness only increased: “You’re not here to make me pay you back?  You’re not going to treat me like a thief?”

Cloaked person: “I’m the one who brought you here, why would I treat you like a thief?”

Xia Ge: “……”

Eyes widening behind her bronze mask, Xia Ge finally managed to stutter out: “You……”

This person……sure enough, they’d known that the paper doll was……

“Don’t ask.”  The cloaked person’s low voice had a tone of finality.

Having uttered that short sentence, the cloaked person took out from under their cloak some neatly folded clothes, placing the clothes upon the sofa.  Their movements were unhurried, displaying their obviously slender hand.  Although the hand was covered, looking at the shape of it, Xia Ge couldn’t help but feel that this person was……probably a woman.

Finished putting the clothes down, the cloaked person now took out a small fox mask, caressing the fox mask’s red ears with long fingers.  The mask’s eye holes were in a smiling curve, the mouth charmingly playful, the whole fox face an artful combination of craftiness and naivety.

Still holding the mask, the cloaked person paused, then glanced over at Xia Ge.
