Chapter 75 Black-Eyed Butterfly Spirit Part 1

Translated by Snowfall77

Chu Yi could detect some light.  Closing and opening her eyes again, her vision slowly started coming back.

That overly enthusiastic eunuch-sounding person from before had been rather strange.

Though Chu Yi couldn’t quite put her finger on what that oddness had been……maybe it was simply that the person had felt……kinda familiar?

When Chu Yi had yelled at the person to stop, her vision had still been full of blackish blind spots, and she’d had no way of seeing the person clearly.  By the time her sight have finally began recovering, the person had long since disappeared.

Chu Yi: “……”

That person had definitely been strange!

Chu Yi stood up, her mouth tight and her mood slightly depressed.

Snorting softly to herself, Chu Yi causally waved a sleeve.

Delicately embroidered silver butterflies gracefully fluttering as if they were alive, Chu Yi’s voice was low: “Butterfly spirit, what did you see just now?”

The next second the girl’s sleeve faintly glowed, Chu Yi’s black pupils becoming silvery as she watched everything that’d happened before through the eyes of the embroidered butterflies.

""

Lit by soft sunlight, a young man with a red ribbon around his hair looked at Chu Yi.  Chu Yi couldn’t hear his voice, however the expression in his eyes was very obvious——

Chu Yi instantly felt like her most painful weak spot had been ruthlessly stomped on!

That particular look in his eyes……it only enraged Chu Yi further!

“Hello……”

Overflowing with anger and hatred, the girl’s voice was icy-cold: “Who are you……”

Since there was no one around, no one answered her, but that was fine.  Chu Yi had been talking to herself after all.

Watching the boy wave his hand before her eyes, realize that she couldn’t see him, and then regard her with some sort of complicated distress……

What was it in his eyes?

Was it actually distress?

Or was it sympathy?

Chu Yi thought it nothing more than cheap sympathy.

Ridiculous.

""

Truly laughable.

Who the hell did he think he was?  Who was he having sympathy towards?  Who did he think he was pitying?!

“Who do you think you are……”

——Really?  Such trash dared to have pity on Chu Yi?

She was merely temporarily blind, not a fool!

Could Chu Yi ever have sympathy for trash?!  And who was worthy of feeling pity towards her?!

It’d be better to be trampled into the mud, have everyone point at her behind her back and call her a bitch, be scolded and denounced as a bad person, than receive such useless, worthless pity!

A devilish fire ignited in Chu Yi’s heart, wantonly burning away, forcing her to recall all the bitterness and hopelessness, all the darkness and agony she’d endured.

“Who do you think you are?!  By what right do you pity me?!  By what right?!”

Boom——

With a loud noise, the rickety bookshelf suddenly collapsed.  When Chu Yi’s servant, hearing the sound from below, ran to find her, the servant discovered sunlight streaming down on books all over the ground, dust filling the air, and Chu Yi’s cold black eyes.

“Second Miss……”

After her fit of rage, Chu Yi took a deep breath, her vision still a little blurry.  Staggering backwards two steps, she waved off the servant trying to help her: “Fuck off!  Don’t touch me!”

Chu Yi didn’t know that her gesture was too careless.  Something flew into the air because of her fiercely swung sleeve, bouncing on the ground a couple times before quietly landing on the open pages of a book.

Her pupils contracting, Chu Yi stared at it.

It was a piece of candy.

The wrapper had loosened to reveal a pink candy with a cherry blossom petal atop it.  Under the warm sunshine, it looked almost like a detail from a painting.

Chu Yi just kept gazing at it, lost in a trance.

A long, long time ago someone had said to her——

If you ever feel that life is too hard——

Just eat a candy——

But……where was that person?

Lost in her thoughts for a long time, Chu Yi finally staggered over to where the candy had fell, kneeling down with a ‘plop.’  She reached out a trembling hand to carefully touch the candy.  Yet the second she did so, she yanked her hand back like she’d received an electrical shock and covered her eyes.

Where was that person?!

Teardrop slowly fell from between Chu Yi’s fingers, drip-drip-drip, making the pages of the book wet.

“Gege……”

You must not want me anymore.

Truly.  It’s too painful.

After Xia Ge took off, she obviously had no way of knowing what was happening on the third floor.  All she did know was that as she was about to reach the first floor, there was a loud ‘boom’ from the third floor, as if something big had fallen.

There was a commotion amongst the disciples at the library, and the most curious ones decided to go up the stairs to find out what’d happened.  Thinking about the girl who’d been listlessly leaning against a bookshelf with empty eyes, Xia Ge then looked at the nosy crowd itching to see something fun.  Managing to come up with a bright idea, Xia Ge hollered at the top of her lungs: “Ai, ai, I just found a Diji-level Danfang in the Danfang section,  I wonder if it’s actually genuine!”

The people about to run upstairs in excitement suddenly switched their focus to Xia Ge.

“Who are you?”

“Ai——aren’t you Xia Wuyin?”

“Oh shit, he found a Diji-level Danfang?”

“Where is it, where is it?!”

“……”

Xia Ge: “Ai, dunno, come and look at it with me——”

Someone realized something was amiss: “Wait a minute, isn’t the Danfang section on the first floor?  Why are you coming from a higher floor?”

Xia Ge: “Oh, I saw it earlier, but I wasn’t really paying attention at the time.  But now I’ve thought about it, ai, I really believe what I saw was awfully similar to a Diji-level Danfang——”

“Really?”

“Why don’t you come with me and check it out yourself!”

“……”

Some people believed Xia Ge’s words, some people didn’t believe at all, and some were skeptical yet hopeful.  However, Xia Ge had successfully diverted their attention from the third floor.  Taking the crowd with her to the Danfang section, Xia Ge was next asked the glaring question: “All right, where’s this Diji-level Danfang?”
