Chapter 91-Wanting Vengeance Part 2

Translated by Snowfall77

The other disciple decided to answer truthfully: “Someone gave them a lesson written in blood……their injuries are actually fairly serious.”

Both Li Liu and Ye Ze were a little stumped to hear such information.

Li Liu said: “That’s strange.  That it would happen to them?  I thought they were the ones who went around ‘teaching’ others.”

Shaking his head, the other disciple whispered to Li Liu: “You may not know this.  They often bully people because they’re incited to……but this time it seems they offended someone they shouldn’t have, touched someone not to be touched, and paid the price for it.”

“Yi, they were incited by someone?  Who do you mean?”  Li Liu always interested himself in gossip.

But the other disciple shook his head again: “That I don’t exactly know.”

Li Liu: “Alright, alright, I got it.  When did the three of them get injured?”

The other disciple: “It was yesterday.”

“I see, good, I won’t trouble you any further.”

After the other disciple left, Ye Ze asked Li Liu: “Who do you think was behind them?”

Li Liu tsked: “Who knows.”

Chang Nian then came over: “Have you finished checking on your end?  This is all so slow and tedious.”

Li Liu: “It’s done, it’s done.  Let’s call it a day and go eat.”

Ye Ze slowly followed along after the group.  He didn’t know if it was just his imagination, but he had the constant feeling that he was being covertly observed.

Yet every time he turned his head, there was nothing to be seen.

“Brother Ye, let’s go.”  Li Liu had spotted Ye Ze standing motionless at the rear and called out to him.

“Why are you bothering with him?” Chang Nian asked impatiently, “Let’s hurry it up, I have to go find my brother later.”

“Understood,” Ye Ze answered, glancing back one more time before catching up with the rest.

It was late at night and Ye Ze was in his room, unable to fall asleep.

His thoughts were chaotic, caught between Xia Wuyin’s heedless lies and the strange bells he’d heard that night.

In the end, Ye Ze gave up on sleeping.  Getting up and changing his clothes, his eyes fell on the dragon jade that lay on his table.

Picking up the jade, Ye Ze hung it from his waist before walking out with his sword.

He didn’t notice as he left that a beautiful silver butterfly on a tree branch leisurely flapped its wings to follow him.

No other destination in mind, Ye Ze headed straight for Jianfeng’s mountain prison.

Jianfeng disciples still patrolled on the other side of the thorns and thistles.  Hiding behind brambles, Ye Ze was more careful this time to not be found out, watching the patrol in deep thought.

The ringing of the bell had disappeared.

Staying there for a long time, it was obvious to Ye Ze that the prison’s defenses were tight, making it impossible for him to get in.

Who was locked up in the prison though?  Why was the prison so heavily guarded?  What had been the meaning of the strange bell Ye Ze had heard?

But since there was nothing to gain by staying, Ye Ze eventually decided go back the way he’d came, only to accidently step on a dead branch.

“Who’s there?!”

In a flash, Ye Ze was unavoidably surrounded by the patrol.

“Why is it you again?!”

One of the disciples recognized Ye Ze, his attitude instantly turning vicious: “What are you doing here again?  You keep coming here over and over, maybe you’re the spy hiding in Jianfeng?!”

“He’s been here before?”

“Yes, he keep coming here!”

“……”

Although the gaze of everyone around him was very fierce, Ye Ze wasn’t flustered: “I……”

“I asked him to come here.”

Under the wan light of the moon, a girl dressed in blue and white had suddenly appeared.  Silver butterflies glittered on her sleeves, and under soft bangs, her round eyes shone bright.  She slowly made her way to stand beside Ye Ze, a silver butterfly fluttering on her shoulder, and a faint smile on her lips: “I know there’s an important prisoner being held in the prison, and I’ve also heard that the Demon Sect is trying to rescue them, so I sent someone to take a look for me.”

Ye Ze was very taken aback: “……Chu Yi?”

The lead of the patrol frowned: “This isn’t a matter for children to concern themselves about!”

Chu Yi laughed lightly: “Ordinary days are too boring; children will inevitably look for fun.  Since I’ve inadvertently disturbed my senior brothers, I’ll send you a few jars of good wine as my apology tomorrow.”

“Tsk……fine, fine, we’ll say nothing further.”  Another disciple spoke up, “Just don’t do again in the future.  We’ve got the Demon Sect watching us like a tiger stalks its prey and we’ve also got our responsibilities.”

Chu Yi: “I understand.”

The patrolling disciples dispersing back to their posts, Chu Yi and Ye Ze departed.

Walking behind Chu Yi, Ye Ze couldn’t help himself: “You……”

Yet that was the only word he managed to get out before lapsing back into silence.

Upon hearing him, Chu Yi slightly turned her head, her voice sweet and soft: “Your name is Ye Ze, correct?”

Surprised once more, Ye Ze answered: “……yes, that’s right.”

Chu Yi tittered: “My memory is too bad.  I must have asked you before.”

About to say something, Ye Ze was interrupted by Chu Yi adding: “However……this time it’s different.”

“When I asked the last time, I simply wanted your name.”  Amidst the heavy shadows of the trees, Chu Yi halted, her figure dark, dim moonlight barely illuminating her round eyes as she turned her head to look at Ye Ze.  “This time……I’m asking if you’re from Ye family of Gucheng.  If you’re that Ye Ze.”

Hearing Chu Yi’s words, Ye Ze’s pupils shrank.

“Shhh……don’t be nervous.”  Chu Yi’s expression was gentle, faint starlight hiding the depth of the obsession in her black eyes.  “This way I’ll know who you are.”

Ye Ze’s answer was slow in coming, yet very decisive: “I am not.”

Chu Yi: “Like I said, don’t be worried.  I don’t mean you any harm.”

Finished speaking, she continued on her way, Ye Ze hesitating for a moment before following her again.

""

“Why were you at the prison?” Chu Yi’s tone was casual.

It again took Ye Ze a long time to speak, but he was honest: “I was curious about who’s inside.”

Chu Yi: “That should only be known to Chang Lan.”

She paused to chuckle.  “I suppose Chang Nian might know too.”

Ye Ze lifted his eyes to stare at her back.

Turning her head, Chu Yi offered softly: “If you really want to know, I could help you.”

“No need,” Ye Ze told her.

“Why not?”  There was a half-smile on Chu Yi’s lips.  “Afraid you’ll owe me?”

Step by step, Chu Yi moved to stand in front of Ye Ze.  Shorter than him, she slightly raised her head to meet his gaze, her voice soft.  “Brother.”

Subconsciously stepping back, Ye Ze’s collar was firmly grasped by the girl with faint moonlight reflecting in her pupils, successfully shrouding the darkness at the bottom of them.

Brother?

Ye Ze didn’t know what to make of it.

Chu Yi was murmuring lowly: “My Brother never has to feel as if he owes me.”

“Please don’t call me Brother.”  Ye Ze turned his face to the side.  “Those three people……were you the one responsible?”

He meant the three rich disciples who’d been taught a lesson.

Chu Yi simpered: “Brother is quite smart.”

Ye Ze: “……”

“Therefore……” Chu Yi’s voice was small, “Brother, if you do want revenge……”

“Doing it all by yourself, it might be too lonely.”
