Lucky Riot And The Mystic Dragon

Chapter 3 - Yo, Big Luck!

Chapter one - Lucky or Not? part 2

Meanwhile, on the training platform, Lucky Riot wore the Thoth High uniform as he breathed in a peculiar rhythm and absorbed the origin qi in the surroundings, refining it into his mystic origin power that could be transmuted into essence qi. His long black hair was braided to the back and hung right below his shoulders, fluttering as if there was wind. As the origin energy of the heavens and the earth entered Lucky's body, it was as if it was falling into a bottomless pit that could never be satisfied.

However, after a while, he became aware of a limit! The distance of this limit would probably be twice as far as when he first sensed the boundary of the first level. At his current pace of refinement, he should reach the edge in a couple of weeks.

In Lucky's opinion, this was probably the starting point for students with an ordinary talent.

Maybe those with high talent started even closer, but he wasn't sure. Lucky knew that cultivating had always been far harder for himself than it seemed to be for those around him. Of course, he would never allow himself to be discouraged. The fifteen-year-old boy had a proud personality, with an outrageous amount of confidence in himself. It was as if this pride came directly from his soul. He had never doubted that he would one day dominate everything under the sun, that he would be a shining light that cut across the darkness within this universe.

To Lucky Riot, this was a given.

To Lucky Riot, being weak was merely temporary.

Of course, Lucky honestly had no idea why he believed this so wholeheartedly. It started around the time he awakened his third eye. It was almost as if it was programmed into his head to think in this manner. He couldn't fight it if he tried.

Lucky's eyelids suddenly twitched a bit, before they lifted to reveal a pair of deep hazel eyes. His boyish yet angular face was the picture of indifference, although he was quite good looking. He woke up from his meditation, thinking, "I'm only a step away from the third level, finally. Of course, who knows how long this step will truly take. Sigh... god, why is it that you toy with me so?"

Lucky had been stuck at the second level Hard Body for the last two years. This was a whole lot slower than all of his fellow classmates. Previously, he had just managed to scr.a.p.e by because of his outstanding Perfect Prism Star grade-star average, in addition to his insane work ethic and diligent practice. If it came strictly to academics, Lucky was probably one of the top five students in the school.

However, none of this mattered at Thoth Academy if he couldn't keep up with the mystic arts curriculum.

Luckily for Lucky, he entered the second level of the Hard Body Mystic Stage and qualified as a junior mystic warrior! This was just in time to be accepted into the high school, and there wasn't another strength assessment until this year! Now, he was inevitably doomed to fail if he didn't cultivate a sixth level Hard Body in time for the Warrior and Magi class assessment! After that, he still had to take the yearly strength assessment in a couple of days.

It was common knowledge that if one couldn't reach the sixth level by the age of 17, then they would likely never reach the ninth level in their lifetime. This would lead to a life of mediocrity and constant embarrassment. Who would want to live like that?

In his heart, Lucky was already planning on what he should do once they kicked him out of school.

No matter how much self-confidence he had, Lucky knew he couldn't go from a second level hard body to the sixth level in merely one year, even if he had natural talent. This was entirely a pipe dream. Lucky would never delude himself. He'd have to grow stronger on his own from now on.

"Well, going to school was fun, I guess. How tragic, why is it that this school so stingy?" Lucky Riot felt indignant, "Don't they know that some geniuses take more time to m.a.t.u.r.e?! How could they be so impatient? They are bound to miss out on this sparkling gem known as I. A pity... a real pity."

If the rest of the school knew of his thoughts, then they would likely die of laughter. Who was it that was pathetic again?

However, these were Lucky Riot's true feelings.

"Yo, Big Luck! How much could you actually be learning today, bro? Let's go already! Wake up, kiddo, come on!" an annoying voice entered the classroom and disrupted Lucky's conversation with himself. There was only one person in this school year that would call him by the name Big Luck so boldly in public like this. It could only be his childhood friend, Capital Blacc! Or as his friends called him, Capp.

"Lucky huh... my mother named me for fortune, and she still calls me this as well...rather ironic," Lucky's real name was Kasino Shreya Riot. However, only classmates, teachers, and other a.d.u.l.ts called him by his real name. At least, Lucky had never gone out of his way to introduce himself as Kasino or Shreya, even though his sisters called him by Shreya. He chose to go by Lucky, as his mother had always called him this way so affectionately. Lucky frowned at those sweet feelings before breaking into a wry smile, "My luck seems to have been used up somehow… maybe I must create my own luck."

Lucky Riot stood up and glanced around at the three startled people who remained in the classroom. He was wearing black clothes and stood at 5.93 feet tall, which could be considered above average for a 14-year-old teenage boy.

"Uh. My apologies, my friend has a brain injury, and he has become retarded," Lucky bowed humbly while casually assassinating his best friend's character. He locked eyes with the girl in red with pigtails for a moment, but she blushed and turned anyway with an attitude.

Lucky scratched his nose innocently while looking around the room.

He saw a kid dressed rather cool who looked like he wanted to strangle someone. Even the instructor at the top of the class looked annoyed and ready to snap. Lucky ignored the suspicious and irritated looks and gathered his belongings, before dashing out of the classroom. Seeing him run out, his buddy quickly chased up behind him. Capp was half a head taller than Lucky and handsome to boot. His long dreaded hair seemed heroic. Like Lucky, his body was lean and athletic. It was apparent these two took great care of their bodies.

"Must you be so annoying, Capp?" grumbled Lucky Riot as the boys walked down the school's halls.

Glancing out the windows, one could see saw many students practicing or showcasing their talents. Some were competing in mystic arts, while the older students were practicing magic spells. Things were levitating, igniting, freezing, and there were many spectacular sights. Of course, there were also plenty of students who were enjoying leisure activities like swimming or playing ball. Some were just talking to their friends, flirting privately, and others studied. Every now and then there would even be a brawl, mystic challenges, or a magic duel!

This was the magical era of humanity, the Magi Era!

In the Year 1250 O.D. outrageously powerful beasts suddenly invaded every country in droves, including the country Lucky lived in, Avaria! The people lived in absolute terror for tens of years before a solution was developed and introduced! The meta-humans that everyone feared were revealed to be regular humans who possessed spiritual potential and gifts. The source of the strange new abilities that kept appearing along with the evolving monsters turned out to be due to the appearance of an abundance of original power! Original power was the essential power of the universe that produced and maintained all life.

All living creatures had the potential to use original energy.

Original energy existed almost everywhere that existed!

This world was like a neon sign that had never been plugged in. It was just like one day someone found a power source and boom! The world lit up immediately. In all the books, the world indeed seemed to power up in an instant! Of course, Lucky had no clue what happened behind the scenes back then so he could only guess. After all, those were considered the dark ages.

Technology and magic had been merged into one, taking science straight to an extreme peak! The origin power in the atmosphere leads to unique constitutions and bloodlines that possess hidden strength. Humanity's counter-attack against the magical beasts was broadcasted in every country, and the world knew for the first time that there was such a thing as magic and superpowers. It was an excellent time to be alive. Magic made having daily necessities incredibly easy. Poverty had decreased a lot, but it still existed on a grand scale. Those without magic potential or knowledge became the ones discriminated against.

No one knew for sure when the first magical discovery was made, but the theory was that the government was visited by aliens many years ago. These aliens slowly introduced new technology to the world. Some said the aliens were actually the leaders of the mysterious beasts. There was no evidence of this, but the theory had so much momentum most people assumed it was true.

Of course, this didn't explain the surging origin energy levels over the last couple thousand years.

As far as Lucky knew, no one had any actual knowledge or proof of what the truth was. His mother would often teach him things about the worlds outside of Pluto, but he knew next to nothing about Pluto itself. Even though his older sister had told him some pretty weird things last year...

Nonetheless, after subduing the magical beast swarms, humanity entered a new renaissance. Origin energy was dissected and divided into different categories. Primarily force and mana were thoroughly researched, and unique applications were created all over for almost every field one could think of. This year, 3313 O.D., the world had long ago entered this magical renaissance. In this era, the school systems revolved around building up the strength and intelligence of the younger generation. Students were provided facilities and resources to train themselves and learn magic, and this initiative was granted funding by the taxes everyone paid.

Those with talent became like royalty in society. Those without ability became the poor and destitute.

Moreover, these were dangerous times. Criminals were no longer just petty robbers. They had powers and advanced methods. Not only that, but previously regular animals had also been influenced by the era, and they had become vicious and merciless killers. Not to mention the remnants of the magical beasts still existed in the wilds! This was no longer a world where one could casually adventure outside with the main threat being other humans. Nature had become far more dangerous than before. However, there were many things Lucky knew that was common knowledge in his hometown, but widely unknown to the commoners here in Nibiru City.

Nonetheless, every student's number one goal was to study and get stronger!

Graduate as a magus or mystic warrior!

Enter a Sect or University!

Travel the world!

This was every Avarian citizen's dream.

"I'm sorry, did you die? Can I see dead people now, like that weird sense, kid? Anyway, I'll send your mother flowers then. That dad of yours though, ouch!" Capp received a punch in the arm from Lucky the instant he said the word 'dad,' "All right buddy, just relax. He ain't yer daddy, I get it. Anyway, have you seen her yet?"

"No, stop asking. Forget about Violet, what level are you at now?" Lucky's eyes flashed with nearly invisible light, but how long had Capp known him? He instantly noticed the change in Lucky's gaze.

"You should know full well for yourself, no?" Capp frowned as he replied.

Lucky merely smiled, as he really did know already. He was impressed to find that Capital Blacc had already achieved a fifth level Hardbody.

Capp sneered at him and said, "You have to be careful with that stuff, man! We don't know if it's dangerous, you know? How about it, Kasino? Did you manage to breakthrough yet?"

Lucky glanced at his friend nonchalantly and then turned his gaze back forward, "You have to do your best to reach the sixth level by the end of the year. Honestly, with your talent, you should reach even the seventh level by then! Maybe even better! You have to train seriously."

"Yes, mom, I will," Capp rolled his eyes at this nagging best friend of his. He didn't pursue the topic any further as he knew Lucky didn't wish to discuss it. "Still dude, it's bizarre that we haven't seen Violet at all after she got accepted into the advanced class on the day after her birthday. I mean seriously, what's the deal? Everyone who does that suddenly goes missing."

"What are they going to do, dissect her and harvest her organs? Relax, bro, she's fine." said Lucky Riot before grinning cheekily, "Come on, let's go meet the gang. It's the anniversary, yeah?"

"Ah!" Capp punched his own palm, "I had almost forgotten! Maybe one of us will get the blessing this time, savvy?"

"I can't exactly be blamed for this, right? They decide who they belong too on their own." Shrugged Lucky as they headed off the school grounds and into the bustling Nibiru City.

Nibiru City covered 400 sq. Miles and was full of tall and mid-sized buildings divided into three sectors. Each sector had the size of its own city. The gorgeous Thoth Academy found itself smack dab in the middle of the middle sector. It would take them about three or four hours if they walked to the outer sector where they had to meet the gang. Even if they ran, it would still take at least two hours.

"What kind of dork meditates for two extra hours after class? We could have been there by now, Luck!" Capp was complaining as they walked past yet another alley when he suddenly stopped. "Hey! Lucky, do you remember this alley? From when we were kids?"

"Yeah," Lucky stopped as well and turned back, "This was the alley that Bravo chased us into, and then we somehow ended up in that alley in the outer sector. Totally weird."

"So, what do you say?" Capp smirked as he angled his head towards the alley, "Think we could do it again?"

"Well, it still worked two years ago, right?" Lucky Riot responded indifferently. What was there to fear? "Why don't we just…"

However, before Lucky could finish he was interrupted by a panicked scream.
