Mana: Goddess Of Destiny

Chapter 3 - 3: Hero’s Chronicle, Three Years Without Time to Panic.

It was Mid-night as Glass lay awake in her crib. She didn't feel like sleeping and had a sense that something was going to happen tonight. She was about to get out of her crib when Maxfield walked into her room.

"Couldn't Sleep, huh?" He said as he picked her up and carried her to his study. It seems he was also restless. His eyes no longer showed disappointment but had fatherly affection and curiosity.

Glass occupied herself with a new set of toys that were in her playpen in they were wooden blocks with letters of the alphabet on them there were two blocks per message. Was he trying to teach her the alphabet, does he realize her age, she's only one year old.

She spent the next hours spelling words because she was bored. Then all of a sudden, she felt a killing intent. Someone just entered the Hall estate with a murderous aura. They were fast as and not only that it seemed as if they knew the layout of the estate. The unknown assassin was approaching the door to the study. Glass looked up at Maxfield and grabbed the letter D and throw it towards him. Maxfield looked up at her seemly confused that his one year old tossed an object at him. He got up and stride towards her with the block in her hand. As he came to her, she placed down two O's and One R in front of her. He then handed her the block, as she grabbed it and placed it with the other three blocks spelling the word door.

Maxfield was a little shocked to see his daughter spelled the word door. And remember Glass action's the past year she would always know when someone was at the entrance to his study. However, when he thought of this it seemed strange, he didn't wake any of the servants up, and neither was Miranda up. So, who was at the door. Glass just stared at him waiting for him to act, Maxfield was not dumb he could tell something was wrong as he casted a spell and picked Glass up and moved away from the door.

The assassin barged in the next moment as he flung knives at Maxfield that were coated with poison. At the same time, his trap spell activated. It shocked the assassin as he quickly ran away. He casted another spell putting the estate into lockdown as an alarm created by magic rung throw-out and causing the whole estate to awaken. Maxfield placed Glass back in her crib before heading out the doors.

Glass only needed one look at the assassin to get his name. He lived in the province and was in debt and an alcoholic. He had been paid to kill Maxfield. His sister works as a maid here, that's where he got his information from about the estate.

Glass sat in the playpen for another hour and still no one had returned. Feeling that she was tired, she decided to sleep on the floor.

It had been three years since that incident, and the assassin had killed himself so that he wouldn't implicate his sister. Maxfield was livid that he wasn't able to get any information out of assassin. Although, Glass knew he didn't as she seemingly continued with her life. Maxfield had become enthralled with her as he spent most of his time with her when he was not working. Miranda remained the same but was quite surprised with her husband attention to a child he should be disappointed in.

Glass is not sure how to deal with Maxfield fatherly affection as most characters like her father never see their child as anything other than tools. But people are prone to change. Maybe, his change is due to her.

I am the goddess of Destiny, and the thought reminded her of her millennia's helping others change their fate's. One's fate changes easily or is replaced by her involvement.

The glass was reading a book on the sofa that had replaced her playpen in Maxfield's office. When she started walking and talking, she was also reading. Maxfield took note that his daughter liked reading rather than play with toys, so he replaced her playpen with a comfortable sofa and buying her plenty of books to read.

Maxfield walked into the study while Glass was absorbed in her book. Someone else was with him, and the man was somewhat older than Maxfield, he had a surprised look on his face when he saw Glass. It was natural as she was most likely the first three-year-old, he had seen reading. Maxfield smiled as he placed a ball on the table in front of her, Glass closed her book and stared at.

"Glass, I want you to touch this."

Glass nodded and put her hand on the ball. It glowed brightly, but soon after the brightness dimmed and turned into a spiral of two colors black and white.

"This is…. Dual elements" the man was shocked while her father was ecstatic, he also had had dual elements they fire and light. But Glass's elements were Darkness and Light both of which are rarest elements in the country. The man behind him looked like he was going to faint as he turned pale and was mumbling.

This man was Richard Havas, a noble who had also lost his place like Maxfield. The two were particularly good friends, but he didn't join the rest of the nobles who lost power. He and his family were content with being farmers, humble it was, but to them it peaceful.

"Thank, you," he said as he gently took her handkerchief and wiped his forehead. Maxfield looked at Glass like she made an outstanding achievement.

"Lord Hall you have a wonderful daughter indeed."

"Thank you, Lord Havas," he beamed "She is indeed a wonderful daughter."

"Lord Hall, your daughter has yet to be bestowed a fiancé, my grandchild is around the same age…"

"Lord Havas we may be good friends, but there is no way I'm giving my daughter out so easily."

After that, the two talked about a verity of topics that Glass didn't care for, as she went back to reading. Lord Havas left at some point, and Glass didn't notice until later when it became quiet, and Maxfield was reading on the sofa parallel to hers.

Glass lay silently in her bed. Her thoughts are keeping her somewhat awake. Time passes by quickly this year should mark some changes. As Miranda is supposed to die and her younger brother should be born.

One thing is for sure she is getting bored.

The moment Glass woke up she knew that something was wrong. What she was laying on wasn't her soft bed but the hard ground. More importantly, she was tied up with a cloth stuffed in her mouth. And She was surrounded by trees she was most likely in a dense forest

What happened? Where AM I? She was begging to panic as she took a deep breath and looked around. She was at a campsite the mats were empty except for one person who has his back to her.

Information flowed through her again and cleared up what was missing.

It seemed she was now six-years-old. The man in front of her was the same age as her father. He is the husband of the maid whose brother tried to assassinate Maxfield his mane is Deacon Mace. The maid had poisoned both Miranda, Glass, and Breton's Mother in revenge.

Resulting in both Miranda and Breton mother's death. Although Glass had survived, she had been put into a coma. Maxfield in a rage had hunted the maid down he, in the end, burned her alive not knowing she was pregnant.

Deacon was a bounty hunter out on a mission when he got the news that his wife and unborn child where burned to death by Maxfield. He had not known what she has done to deserve this and fully believed that in the gossip that his wife was murder for rejecting his advances.

The maid had skill though to poison a three-year-old at night with no suspecting until the two women had died.

"You Awake," a voice said as Glass said Status close in her mind. She gazed at the poor man, and he couldn't kill Maxfield, so he wanted the man to experience losing a child as he did. Deacon looked at the girl whose face was completely calm. Glass had untied herself already, she had been kidnapped and tired in many others lives, so freeing herself wasn't an issued. She pulled out the cloth in her mouth.

Deacon was caught off guard as he was bewildered that she had freed herself. He got up to chase after her in case if she ran. But Glass did no such thing as she stretched and yawned.

"Where are the others?" She asked Deacon, he paused and frowned

"They are scouting."

"Is that so?" Glass had paused "How much do you know about this Forest?"
