Meanwhile, Su Jiaojiao was trying to dress Song Qinghan up.

Song Qinghan was still a hero even after retirement. He killed the wild boar threatening the villagers. Wang Jianye reported this incident to his superiors, and there will be a badge awarded to him in October, three days after National Day.

There would be many outstanding people there aside from Song Qinghan.

Su Jiaojiao realized that the clothes he usually wore were too simple. He didn’t have any fashionable clothing, so she hurriedly asked her two sisters-in-law and Sun Fang to help make a Zhongsan-style Chinese outfit. [1]

The two went to town again to buy shoes and cut Song Qinghan’s hair. Although he didn’t mind his previous (terrible) hairstyle, Su Jiaojiao still though it’d be better for him to change his hairstyle anyways.

By then, his clothes had just been done. Su Jiaojiao asked him to try them on.

The young man put on the new clothes and looked dazzling, with wide shoulders and long legs.

Song Qinghan’s face was a little unnatural as he stood up straight and looked at his wife. The bright gleam in his eyes hid his true thoughts as his lips moved, although he was embarrassed to say them out loud.

He wanted to ask his wife if he looked good like this.

“Are these trousers too big?” Su Jiaojiao’s big round eyes looked up and down. Her eyes fell on his trousers as she asked suspiciously. She pulled the waist of his trousers, wanting to see how many sizes too large they were.

There was an unexpected dull hiss when her white and tender fingers tugged on the waistband.

“Huh?” Su Jiaojiao was dumbfounded and quickly looked down to check.

His trousers were fine.

But there was an extra bulge in front of her…

She raised her head awkwardly and saw Song Qinghan’s red face as they looked at each other. The young man lowered his eyes shyly, pinched the corner of his clothes, and muttered, “Maybe… I’ve gained weight…”

(Everyone who’s still reading this novel, thank you for the support! Now let’s get back to the story.)

The town was just a bazaar with villages merged into it. It soon became a bustling town with a lot of things.

However, a province was something made by the government. It was much more formal than a mere town.

Of course, an actual city would be even more formal.

Song Qinghan’s merits weren’t so big it would go up to the city, and the badge-awarding ceremony was only province-wide. However, Su Jiaojiao heard that the leaders of the city would also come and participate in this ceremony. So there was a lot to brag about.

The folk customs of this era are simple, so they pay a lot of attention to these things.

Wang Jianye was afraid that Song Qinghan had forgotten about the ceremony, so he came over to remind him the day before it, “Qinghan?”

The slightly dark-skinned and handsome young man came out. Wang Jianye could see that his ears and neck seemed to be crimson, and his nose and forehead were full of sweat. When Song Qinghan saw him, it saw like he had seen his saviour.

Wang Jianye glanced at him suspiciously, but quickly remembered who his wife was. He suddenly understood why he reacted this way.

He must have been bullied by Su Jiaojiao again. She must’ve told him to work, and the foolish boy must’ve refused.

He immediately felt sympathy. “Qinghan, we meet at five o’clock tomorrow morning, so don’t be late. Do you have an alarm clock?”

“Yes.” Song Qinghan quietly breathed a sigh of relief. The captain came just in time. He almost had to run away then due to Su Jiaojiao’s insistence.

Wang Jianye whispered, “Why don’t I tell Jiaojiao there isn’t enough space in the tractor so she won’t go?”

That scenario wouldn’t be very good for Song Qinghan, after all.

Song Qinghan shook his head hurriedly, “No, no. Jiaojiao is looking forward to going to the county this time.”

Wang Jianye looked at Song Qinghan like he was a fool and thought, If Song Qinghan weren’t so naive, Su Zhengyang wouldn’t be willing to marry his daughter off to him.

He felt he understood the sentence ‘blessings and curses come together now’.

After the captain left, Song Qinghan looked left and right before finally walked in. As soon as he came in, he saw the girl with the red face looking at him shyly, and he couldn’t see her previous teasing expression anywhere. He said softly, “Jiaojiao, I’ll go change my clothes.”

“Ok.” Su Jiaojiao went out hurriedly.

She didn’t know what happened just then. She couldn’t help but tease him then, and when she calmed down, she felt she did something incredibly stupid.

Of course, she didn’t think Song Qinghan actually gained weight. It was more likely that pair of underwear was always a size too small.

It was really impressive he could wear them for so long.

Su Jiaojiao patted her hot face, and directly bought a few pairs of underwear from the matchmaker system that was one size larger than her previous estimate. She’d just say she’d bought them previously.

Armos D. Platypus: By the time this chappie’s out, it’ll probably be half-term for me. Which means more chappies!
