Mother Song immediately understood what the nurses were saying.

The child she gave birth to is not healthy!

They couldn’t to raise that child. This might be her only child, which was why she wanted a healthy one.

A woman had arrived half a month ago and was waiting for pregnancy living in the same room as her. Her husband, who had been accompanying her this whole time, was called away suddenly. She was hit by a child when going out for a walk and went into early labour.

The two went into labour at the same time and were pushed into the same room to give birth. That woman was unconscious as soon as she finished giving birth.

However, Mother Song was still wide awake then. After listening to the midwife’s instructions, they were both carted back into the same hospital room to recover. When she saw the other woman’s baby boy, she thought of something.

Newborns all looked the same. Since they were in the same room, and had the same surname, Mother Song cruelly switched the two infants.

Father Song was an accomplice in this. In order not to be exposed, the two left immediately after switching the children. Mother Song was strong and endured the pains of post-childbirth.

Back then, nobody would’ve ever thought someone would do such a thing. Aside from that, there were only Ji Ya and Mother Song in that room. Although she was distraught over giving birth to such a weak child, she didn’t suspect a thing.

The midwife and the person who looked after the women who had just given birth were different people. Therefore, they didn’t suspect anything either. (Or maybe they did and just didn’t say anything.)

The matter was buried just like that and nobody knew about it.

Mother Song treated the child nicely the first few years of his life. You could tell from his name that she had secretly went out and asked a fortune-teller on advice.

But when Song Qinghan was just over four years old, she became pregnant again. This time, she went to the hospital for a check-up in advance. It was a healthy male fetus!

Mother Song immediately demoted Song Qinghan to the position of ‘dead weight’.

But she didn’t dare to murder him, so she could only treat him like he didn’t exist. She felt frustrated she had raised him for several years and spent money on him. On the other hand, she felt guilty for the misdeeds she had committed. So she really wished she could kill Song Qinghan, but she also didn’t dare.

They had passed their years peacefully like this for a long time. Mother Song would never have thought things would become like this even in her dreams!

The trial was over, and the verdict was passed. The Song parents got what they deserved.

Ji Ya followed her husband with red eyes and a cheerful expression. Behind them were Su Jiaojiao, Song Qinghan and members of the (other) Song family and Ji family.

They felt pretty good after that. Song Huaijin even felt like he let out some steam.

But not far away, a young man stood on the steps of the court, looking at them with red eyes.

The members of the Song family’s faces became complicated.

The passersby all came over and watched the scene.

Ji Ya said in a low voice, “Xiao An.” She knew that this wasn’t Song Yu’an’s fault, but they couldn’t interact with each other like they used to.

If it were just a misunderstanding, it would’ve been fine; they could afford to love both of them. But this wasn’t a misunderstanding!

They even abused Song Qinghan after Mother Song switched the children.

Song Huaijin opened his mouth. He didn’t know what to say.

He used to hate this child for being a failure. He was a talented person who did everything well. He manages a huge factory by himself, and had received an award for running the factory well for three consecutive years.

However, this son of his gave him an endless amount of trouble. It used to be due to his body when he was younger, but then he became his miscreant friends when he grew up.

However, Song Yu’an had a heart disease, so he didn’t dare scold him too much.

Then, he looked at Song Qinghan again. His upbringing was much worse than Song Yu’an, but he still accomplished so much more than him.

You can’t help but admit good genes are essential. [1]

Song Yu’an was sent to his relative’s house by his parents beforehand. He didn’t know what was going on, but knew something was up when his relatives’ attitude towards him took a 180. Then, he learnt he was switched with another child at birth through his miscreant friends.

He also found out his biological parents were about to go to prison.

Song Yuan knew very well his life would be over if he left the Song family. He hated that his biological parents were not decisive enough to finish the job. He also hated his cousin Ji Xuexi, for exposing the matter, and his ‘parents’ for not leaving him any face.

But even dogs knew how to preserve their own lives. Song Yu’an understood there was nothing he could do, and he should stay in the Song family obediently.

So Song Yu’an ran over to court. He was confident they wouldn’t drive him out in public.

He was stupid, but he knew Ji Ya and Song Jinhua truly loved him. Their twenty-odd year-long relationship hadn’t been for nothing, and now he had to pretend to be pitiful in front of them.

When Song Yu’an saw them at a loss for words, his heart skipped a beat. He still didn’t know how severe his biological parents’ punishment at court was. (Hint: A lot.)

He thought that things weren’t that bad, but it seemed slightly different from what he had expected.

Song Yu’an forced himself to smile. There was a few hints of fear and anxiety on his pale and average face. “Mum, Dad, I…”

His voice was weak and feeble, like a chronically ill person.

Ji Ya immediately felt distressed, and reflexively asked, “Does your heart hurt again?”

Song Yu’an nodded a little, then immediately shook his head, “I’m okay.”

Yes, he had a heart disease, but it wasn’t that serious. After years of treatment, he could still run and jump around occasionally.

However, his goal was to make them feel bad.
