Yun Qing replied, “It’s not dark anymore. There’s still a bit of white.”

Bai Ruan jumped from the Grand Master’s chair and with his eyes down, he urged, “Put on your clothes.”

As Lang Jing Feng glanced at him with a smile and put on his clothes unhurriedly, Bai Ruan avoided him and looked at the vases collected by his researcher uncle. He didn’t bat an eyelid at Lang Jing Feng.

At this moment, Yun Qing fiddled with the compass a few more times and then he looked solemn. His face was as frosty as snow and he said in a deep voice, “Apprentice, stay calm, this matter is not over yet. This Yin snake is just the incarnation of the snake demon. The real culprit is currently in the southeast direction.” After speaking, Yun Qing touched his trouser pocket to confirm that his wallet and ID card were all on him, then flicked his sleeves, lifted the peach-wood sword and walked murderously towards the courtyard gate. “As your teacher, I’ll take you to the southeast to slay that demon.”

Before Bai Ruan had time to cooperate with the performance, Yun Zhen, who was arching his waist and picking up eggs, straightened up abruptly. He grabbed Yun Qing’s back collar and carried him with one hand to the Grand Master’s seat as if carrying something light, with no expression on his face the whole time.

Yun Qing struggled, “Senior Brother, the evildoer in the southeast direction has not been removed. What I killed just now was just a stand-in, I…”

Yun Zhen’s thin lips, which had been silent and submissive today, opened slightly, “Rubbish.”

Yun Qing, “…”

Bai Ruan laughed out loud.

Yun Zhen suddenly moved and grabbed the compass in Yun Qing’s hand.

Yun Qing continued bitterly, “Hey, Senior Brother, don’t…”

Yun Zhen fiddled with the compass a few times, threw it back into Yun Qing’s arms, looked at Bai Ruan in the blink of an eye, and said concisely, “The evil karma of the Yin Snake has returned to its original owner. The Snake Demon will be condemned to death in the third quarter of the third day.”

Yun Qing’s face collapsed, and he became a paralyzed salted fish1 on the Grand Master’s chair.

Bai Ruan tried not to laugh. “I see. Thank you, Uncle.2“

Yun Zhen had always been reluctant to speak, but his words held a lot of weight. He would never say anything if he was uncertain. If he said that the snake demon would die at the third quarter of the third day, the snake demon would die exactly at the third quarter of the third day. There was nothing to be concerned about.

Backlash was a term commonly used by monks. Most of them referred to the harm or calamity that the caster had to suffer after being caught. The evil karma was transferred to Lang Jing Feng by the snake demon in the dark. After the Yin snake dissipated, it would rebound back with double the karma towards the snake demon.

Standing at a safe distance, Bai Ruan explained the fate of the snake demon to Lang Jing Feng. While looking at the floor, he analysed, “This Yin snake should have been attached to you a long time ago, maybe it was the time he successfully escaped from prison a year ago… I transferred you the merits of saving Shen Jia Han last week. Even though you weren’t originally afraid of the Yin snake causing trouble, but after seeing that you hadn’t died yet, this time he might have done some other bad things during his escape.”

This hypothesis was still very reliable. After all, this was a prison escape, not going out shopping. The snake demon likely caused casualties to the police officers during the escape. If one were to further speculate, the cruel demon might have even deliberately killed and injured people, causing Lang Yuan Shan’s only son to be condemned by the heavens so as to disrupt his position and let the snake demon have no time to be chased.

Lang Jing Feng’s encounter with Bai Ruan was also his fate of not dying.

After listening to Bai Ruan’s analysis, Lang Jing Feng didn’t show any fearful looks due to the possibility of being condemned by Heaven. He only smiled briskly. “Very well, my dad won’t have to fight with him in the future.” After speaking, he turned to Yun Qing and Yun Zhen, generously bowed and thanked them. In a polite manner he told them that they would come back to visit with thank you gifts in the next few days.

Yun Zhen waved his hands in dismissal3. “It’s a trivial matter and it’s not worth mentioning. Go back. You don’t have to come back any time soon.”

His face was full of impatience that the two-person world 4would be disturbed by the juniors.

Yun Qing frantically winked at Bai Ruan, almost squeezing out his wrinkles.

Bai Ruan understood, and said to Yun Zhen, “Uncle, I want to take Master out for a meal. He has been travelling abroad…wandering for so long, he should be yearning for hot pot.”

Yun Zhen coldly replied, “I will make it for him.”

Bai Ruan once again worked hard. “My master still wants to go out… to watch a movie.”

Yun Zhen’s face was dark. “There is a screening room here.” After he finished speaking, he turned to Yun Qing, “What else do you want?”

Yun Qing curled his legs on the Grand Master’s chair, shook his head and with tears in his eyes, watched as his apprentice abandoned him.

Bai Ruan led Lang Jing Feng out of Yun Zhen’s mansion and called for a car at the entrance with his phone.

This place was a bit remote and there were only a few cars passing by. A driver took the order, indicating that it would take five minutes to arrive.

The two stood in front of the house and waited. At the gate of the courtyard were two ginkgo trees that Yun Zhen planted. In the late spring and early summer, the sunlight shone onto the canopy, many thin and straight beams of light leaked from the gaps between the fan-shaped leaves. The square inch in front of the courtyard was filled with the glint of emerald green and warm gold.

Lang Jing Feng and Bai Ruan stood in the shade under the two trees on the left and right side of the door, like two stone lions. Lang Jing Feng leaned against the tree and looked at Bai Ruan, while the young teacher stared directly at the soil on the ground. Bai Ruan’s head was occupied with what Yun Qing had calculated for him. His heart was so confused that he eagerly wanted to hold a kitchen knife against the Red Luan Star to stop it from moving.

“Teacher Bai.” Lang Jing Feng took a step in Bai Ruan’s direction. Bai Ruan squinted at him, and vigilantly shuffled two steps away, keeping a safe distance.

“What are you hiding from?” Lang Jing Feng was happy.

Bai Ruan replied concisely, “Guarding against wolves.”

Both the literal meaning and the extended meaning made sense!

“Shall we head back to school?” Lang Jing Feng had no choice but to stand still, and murmured, “Such a big matter has been resolved so smoothly, why don’t we go out instead and celebrate?”

“No. Let’s go back to school.” Bai Ruan glanced at the time and said in a flat tone, “3:50 pm. We can still attend two periods of self-study in the evening… You need to correct your attitude and focus on your studies. Strive for greater progress in the final exam which is in two months’ time, and don’t think about things that students shouldn’t be thinking about.”

Lang Jing Feng looked at Bai Ruan intently, and suddenly said with a serious face, “Teacher Bai, I haven’t thanked you yet. Without you, I’d have been hit by thunderbolts to death several times back and forth.”

Bai Ruan’s ears were soft5. Hearing Lang Jing Feng speaking in such a nice and serious manner, his chest couldn’t help but feel warm. He thought that this student could still be saved, and his tone became gentler, “No need to thank me. This is something that I should do.”

“Sure,” Lang Jing Feng nodded readily, “Then I won’t thank you…”

The corner of Bai Ruan’s mouth twitched slightly.

Lang Jing Feng was amused by Bai Ruan’s awkward expression. He suddenly walked to Bai Ruan’s side like a hunter stalking and held on to the trunk behind Bai Ruan’s head. The stubbornness that had just been hidden resurfaced on his face and with a small smile, he continued, completing the previous sentence, “A great favour is not enough to be thanked by words, let me repay you with my heart and body.6“

Bai Ruan gasped with fright, squatted, and slipped out of the gap between Lang Jing Feng’s arm and the ground. After he scurried behind the tree, he then dared to reprimand loudly, “Lang Jing Feng! If you do this again, I’ll speak to your parents!”

“Sure. Go and talk to them.” Lang Jing Feng circled the rabbit around the tree, but he wasn’t really chasing, he was just leisurely playing with Bai Ruan. “For this matter, you’ll have to talk to my parents. They’ll have to transfer me again… But didn’t you listen to what our Master said? Hitting the mandarin duck is equivalent to harming my future.”

Bai Ruan, who was running around the tree to hide from the wolf, was startled and his heart shook.

“You hit our couple mandarin ducks. Once I’m sad, I won’t study hard and my future will be gone.” Lang Jing Feng whispered, “Teacher Bai, can you bear for that to happen?”

“What does that have to do with me?” Bai Ruan brought into full play his literary skills as a Chinese teacher. “Do you think my Master said it was me and you? He said mandarin ducks7, not mandarin ducks8.”

Lang Jing Feng fixedly looked at him. “It’s not who you are. Do you think I won’t know who I like? Besides, didn’t I start studying because I like you? A prosperous marriage will lead to prosperous learning; it couldn’t be more accurate.”

Bai Ruan still wanted to refute. Lang Jing Feng stopped him and said, “Teacher Bai, do you dare to bet with me? Let’s go in now and let Master calculate whether or not we are destined to be married. If so, you have to promise to be my boyfriend starting today. If we aren’t, you can punish me by copying the textbook and request my parents to withdraw me from school; whatever you want.”

When Lang Jing Feng said this, he was thinking that transferring schools might not be such a bad idea. After transferring schools, he and Bai Ruan would not be in a teacher-student relationship, and he could be unrestrained when chasing him.

Bai Ruan looked into the distance and smiled disapprovingly. “This is nothing to bet about. It is simply impossible.”

As he said, he walked a few steps towards the gate of the house, and when he was about to hit the door, he retreated with a stern face and said, “The car is here. Get in the car first.”

“Cancel the ride and call for another one.” Lang Jing Feng was dissatisfied. His sharp gaze did not let off any changes in Bai Ruan’s face that symbolised a guilty conscience.

“No, there are only a few around this place.” Bai Ruan felt guilty and ran in the direction of the car as if to escape.

He originally rushed to the front passenger seat, but Lang Jing Feng touched the front door before him. Bai Ruan didn’t dare to fight with him, so he sat in the back instead. However, as soon as Bai Ruan’s bottom was firmly planted at the back, Lang Jing Feng pulled out his long leg that was halfway in the front passenger seat, closed the door, and like the wind, slid into the back.

“Lang Jing Feng, you…” Bai Ruan was dizzy by his action, and was about to open the door to get out of the car to take the front passenger seat when Lang Jingfeng leaned in his direction and threatened softly with a smile. “If you don’t obey, I’ll kiss you. “

The driver turned his head, wanting to look at the interesting scene. However, he was glared at by Lang Jing Feng with a swift and fierce, sharp-edged knife-like glance that could make one half-dead. The driver could only turn back and obediently drive.

There was no difference between the words whispered in Bai Ruan’s ears and “If you don’t obey, I’ll bite you to death”. Bai Ruan’s face was pale with fright, and he reflexively retracted his hand trying to open the door.

The threatening effect was immediate. Lang Jing Feng didn’t know whether to be happy or sad. He rubbed his handsome face and sighed. “It’s such a waste for me to be handsome while being with you. Kissing can somehow scare you to this extent… You have no idea how many people are eager for my kisses.”

Bai Ruan sat close to the car door, wind down the window for fresh air, and asked with a dark face, “Why are you in the back seat?”

“Trying to test you.” Lang Jing Feng and Bai Ruan asked at a distance of half a meter, “Are you afraid when I’m this far away from you?”

“…It’s okay if there is wind.” Bai Ruan answered honestly, breathing the fresh air coming through the car window.

“Fuck, no wonder.” Lang Jing Feng laughed. “I was still wondering why whenever I went to the office during this period, you’d turn on a fan to blow on me. My arthritis came out because I was frozen.”

Bai Ruan wanted to laugh, but held back and just coldly looked at the floor.

“My right hand really has arthritis.” Lang Jing Feng stretched out a hand towards Bai Ruan and said with a porcelain-bumping tone9, “Teacher, hurry and help me rub.”

Bai Ruan did not move. “Don’t make trouble, take it back.”

Lang Jing Feng did not retract his hand, but took advantage of the situation to hook Bai Ruan’s sleeve with his fingertips, and said, “Are you afraid if it’s touching like this?”

Bai Ruan replied honestly, “Truthfully, as long as we don’t touch, I won’t be scared.”

Lang Jing Feng leaned closer, lowered his voice, and asked in a voice that the driver couldn’t hear, “Then how do you feel when I touch you more?”

“It’s the feeling,” Bai Ruan paused and thought for a while and continued whispering, “Like I’ll be eaten by you in the next second, so don’t touch me.”

“Then what if I learn to restrain my aura,” Lang Jing Feng glanced at the driver who didn’t know anything, and asked vaguely, “Would you still be afraid of me?”

Bai Ruan, “Logically speaking, I won’t be.”

Lang Jing Feng sighed. “Mentally, you will be?”

Bai Ruan looked out the window helplessly. “How can instinctive things be overcome that easily?”

“Okay.” Lang Jing Feng nodded, “Step by step. Let’s start with mentally.” As he said, he took out his mobile phone and opened the ‘Seven days to restraining a demon’s energy- Crash Training Method’ in the forum. “Teacher, look! A seven day crash course.”

Bai Ruan glanced a few times, shook his head, and whispered, “It’s just fooling people. The method is right but the pace is too fast. According to this practice, there are only a few who can persist and succeed. It’s more appropriate if they reduce their practice to a third…”

“Then what if I can successfully restrain it in seven days?” Lang Jing Feng bit his lip and smiled. “You’ll let me kiss you?”

“Don’t even think about it!” Bai Ruan’s eyes widened. “I’m your homeroom teacher. Can you have the attitude that a student should have towards me?”

Bai Ruan’s words even made himself feel it was quite useless. His lethality and deterrence were not even comparable to a fart.

Lang Jing Feng nodded as if pounding garlic. He couldn’t help but to have a smile on his face. He was obviously not repenting and just thought Bai Ruan looked adorable.

In fact, if it were another student, even if Bai Ruan couldn’t take it anymore, he could at least find his parents, punish him or ask the dean to take action. No matter what, he wouldn’t be bullied by a student.

But Bai Ruan was stunned by Yun Qing’s calculation. He was not stupid, he knew that Yun Qing’s predictions had actually been fulfilled long ago- During this period of time, it was indeed because of him that Lang Jing Feng ignited his fighting spirit to learn. Bai Ruan was afraid that his actions of disciplining Lang Jing Feng would wipe out his not easily attainable enthusiasm for learning. After all, Yun Qing’s predictions were never wrong.

How could I be with a student… Bai Ruan wanted to cry but had no tears. He even wanted to jump out of the car.
