Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

Chapter 41 - As if being reborned 1

Mia blinked open her eyelids as she woke up from the weird dream. She remained unmoved as she stared at the ceiling of the room. Her mind drifted back to the two scenes played in her dream. Why did that kind of stories popped up in her unconscious mind? Who was that same man named Carmen? How did she suddenly affectionately concern about that guy? Although Mia knew it was just a dream and an imaginary character, these two scenes felt surreal and very close to her heart. She really could feel the flow of emotions as the stories progressed as if she was really that person.

The sound of the night breeze faintly passing by her ear brought her out of the daze. The chilly air against her skin and the drop in temperature prompted her to pull up the thick duvet higher to her chin. She was unbothered by the half of the opened windows and let the curtain swaying side to side or sometimes it stopped moving.

Somehow the dream reminded her of her past marriage. It only lasted three years and the marriage was only one-sided. Her foster parents unknowingly traded her to the rich family in return of a sum of millions and passed away one year after the marriage deal. Who knew if there was really a conspiracy behind the car accident?

But because of that accident, she came to know about her real status. That was the only benefit she gained from the accident. Others were only suffering. Nevertheless, was knowing about the adoption really give her any advantage? Thinking about all these, she felt that her stubborn wish to meet her real parents gonna cost her greatly. In fact, it did. She chose to become someone's slave in return of the realisation of that wish. Was it really worthy? Whatever, she already made the decision and soon, she gonna lost this freedom again.

As per the promise, Noah had sent someone to pick her up few days after that life-changing phone call. She only packed some of her clothing and important doc.u.ments especially the baby photo that she got from her foster mother's wooden box. Other than those few papers, she didn't have much valuable things to begin with.

Mia told Aunt Su that she got a new work in other region and she didn't want to freeload at her house anymore. She was an a.d.u.l.t so by crook or by hook, she must be independent. She refrained herself from telling Aunt Su about the deal she made with Noah because she didn't want Aunt Su to worry about her. Nothing could express how grateful she was towards this best friend of her late adopted mother. Her heart was overwhelming with sadness as if she gonna lose another dear mother of hers. This led her departing in tears.

At noon of the said day, a silver coloured van drove into Aunt Su's compound and a friendly driver greeted both of them at the veranda. Mia already prepared herself along with two standard luggage at her side while Aunt Su reluctantly let her go into the van. She once vowed to treat this child as if as her own and now, this child chose to leave. How could her weak heart stand the separation between a mother and a child. Aunt Su couldn't bear to see Mia leave so she quickly excused herself inside and cried to herself behind the wall. She used to live this lonely life without anyone beside her for such a very long time but fate gave her unprecedented chance to live as a mother although it was only for a short period of time. But that was the happiest moment of hers.

As much as Mia too felt saddened by this departure, she had to go. Seeing this friendly driver somehow comforted her heart as if like those normal trips. But little did she know, the driver wasn't the only person who was waiting for her to load into the van. Everything felt normal however the moment she sat on one of the passenger seats and the door was closed, a black shadow from behind cornered her and in a blink of eye, her eyes were blinded!

"Ms Wilson, we're Mr O'Sullivan's people. We don't hold any ill intention towards you but this is an order from our master to have you blinded throughout the journey. We hope that you'll give us the best cooperation from you. Don't worry, we won't tie your hands. So this is not a threat. Please refrain yourself from taking off the blind or else, we cannot guarantee your safety."

Despite of that, Mia had her guards up. She must stay alert with any possibility of her life to be in danger. In this kind of situation, what should she do to protect herself? First, she must calm herself down so that she could think rationally and avoid agitating these men. Next, she must not be stiff towards having her eyes blinded. One sense gone, she still had other four senses. On top of that, focus... to be at the best throughout the dark journey, she must not let her focus down.

Her fingers were fidgeting as she constantly clasped and unclasped her hands. It was clear that she was nervous but her mind told her to not be beaten down by it. Her ears acted as her eyes temporarily as she remained alert of the slightest movements of the people inside the van and also the van's directions.

Since the van was speeding, its movements were big and easy to take note. She had the advantage of knowing the routes around here as she grew up in this region. Before she went inside the van, she luckily glanced at her watch hence she knew what time the van took off. So she could estimate the timing.

At one point, she became overwhelmed with these multitasking. Her focus started to sway. Would she make it to the end?
