Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

"Oh my! That's so tiring. Who's the one that make Senior Dean so mad that he refused to let us go early today? I shall teach that person a lesson. He or she..." complained Jane as soon as she laid on the bed.

The class was supposed to end before 7 but got delayed until past 8. Usually by 7. their stomach had been waiting to be filled up but today they had to wait patiently for Senior Dean dismissing the class late.

"Tsk.. Jane..." Worried that Mia might feel dishearten with Jane's spontaneous complaint, Carolyn hinted Jane to stop.

Jane grinned in guilt as she accidentally forgot about what had happened in the training hall earlier. Quickly she tried to cheer up the mood but ended up adding fuel to the fire. Mia's ashen face clearly showed discomfort.

"Ahhh... I'm full. Today's dinner is so good. That crab... full of flesh... oh my! I wanna eat it again. The kitchen is generous today. The staff must have known that Senior Dean had turned vicious this time. The news really spread around fast in this school. Mia, you've become famous not even half a day you entered this school. It's so amazing. Woahhh..."

Carolyn sighed in defeat. Who would want to be famous on the account of bad rumours? When it came to comforting people, Jane wasn't good at it. Looking at how sad Mia was, Carolyn took the turn to give some encouragement.

"Mia, don't worry. We'll help. I believe Master Nick sees great potential in you. People are always talking even you did nothing."

"But... I'm really weak at it! Even after 10 minutes running, I've got no energy left. How can I learn the fighting skill if my body can't hold on for more than 10 minutes. Today's class lasted more than 4 hours, how am I gonna survive if the classes are at least 3 hours long. Am I not seeking my own death?"

"That's normal for beginner. If you practice hard, you can even beat the elites. Believe me. There's a purpose of why we have obstacles in our life. It's to make us stronger as we live on."

"Yeah... that's true. That's why we have rank system here. The higher the rank, the more difficult the challenges. Once we've passed the challenges, we get promoted because the school wants to recognise the improvements we've made. It's the same as telling us that we're getting stronger as we climb up the rank." supported Jane. Woah... this was the first time she gave a m.a.t.u.r.e advice. Jane clenched her hands proudly upon this achievement.

In this training school, they implied a rank system to measure the students' progress. There were three levels and in each of them, got 2 tier ranks. So in total, there were 6 different ranks before becoming the elite agents. Normally the students took minimum one year and half to three years to get the highest title. In rare cases, the bright students easily reduced their training period to two years.

Unfortunately, Mia must become one of the elite agent within three months. How she gonna achieve when she didn't have the basic. Realising this, she felt discourage as it was impossible for her to make it. But for the sake of meeting her real parents, she must get through these hardsh.i.p.s or else, she should just abandon this wish.

"Mia... to be an agent, it's not all about fighting people. You also must possess expertise in other fields. That's what make our profession a huge demand in the market because we aren't limited to self defence skill. Maybe you'll do a better job in other areas. So, man up! You can do this." Carolyn genuinely supported her as she gave a soft pat on Mia's shoulder.

Reflecting on this, Mia's mood somehow gotten better. She did have qualification in accountancy and finance but how far her current knowledge gonna help her progress? Plus she had been disengaged from this field for three years. Things had massively changed.

"Heyy... can both of you give me tour around this school so that I can get familiarised with it? Also the rules that I must obliged since I've missed the orientation." One of the reason why Mia had become the talk of the town was because of the unusual timing of enrolment.

All of the students here were scouted by the Masters at the beginning of the year but that didn't guarantee the placement of the chosen individuals. They must attend the compulsory orientation in which the Masters would observe their potentials and subsequently became the official students here if they showed great performance. Then afterwards, they would given four chances to select their master through the quarterly test set by the master themselves.

Mia had skipped many layers of screening which was something that hadn't been done by anyone. So no wonder everyone was enraged with Mia's sudden attendance at this school. Naturally, she became the target of the students here. On her side as for now, she only got these two roommates whom she could rely on.

"Sure!. We'll go on tour tomorrow morning after the breakfast. The 1st tier apprentice class will start at noon so we have time for that. Hmmm... about the rules, Carolyn will help you on this. Hehehe... I'm so tired. Let me go to bed early. Goodnight!" Tee-hee! Jane giggled as she ran to the bathroom attached in their room to clean herself before going to sleep.

Seeing this friend's silly escape, Mia then pleaded Carolyn to help her by making puppy eyes and sad face. She must know the rules before going to the class tomorrow or else, she would be starving and end up dying because of this instead of the training. She noticed that every punishments the school gave to the students always by taking away or reducing the intake of their meals.

"Don't worry about the rules. You'll learn them eventually. The most important things is avoid being conflict with masters and the seniors. Our masters aren't always the one that teach us. Like today's evening class, Senior Dean handled the class. Most of the masters choose the night time to give the lesson but this depends on which masters you're under. Like mine, I often have morning classes instead of during the night. But the evening classes are compulsory for everyone so make sure you reach the training hall within 2 minutes after the siren ringing and don't be late for your individual classes. Just get yourself be prepared all the time to avoid the punishments."

Carolyn patiently explained the class arrangement to Mia while waiting Jane to finish shower. She told her important stuff first and continued later as for the trivial rules. Three of them should start preparing for bed early so that their body got enough rest. As a 1st tier Apprentice, they must watch their body condition as most of the training involved a lot of physical movements.
