Mute Girl The Series : Rose Thorns

Chapter 66 - 065 - Day 3

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! DON'T GO THERE!!!" shouted Mia as loud as she could as she wished her warn could stop their curiosity however, the two girls didn't pay attention to her warn.

"Hey... wake up..."

A voice rang through Mia's ears and several nudges on her shoulder jerked her up. She was breathing rapidly as if she had ran thousand miles non-stop and choked out a handful of water out of her mouth. Noticing her surrounding, she realised that she had came back to the reality. Her whole body was soaking wet of the river water mixed with the cold sweats. She turned her head to the owner of the voice that woke her up from the weird dream and recognised the owner. It was her number one enemy in this training school and yet also her master, Nick.

"You're lucky that you're still alive after drowning in the water. You better appreciate that second chance of life granted to you..." said Nick nonchalantly. He was standing near her and with the downcast eyes from above, he watched her stabilising her breathing rate back to normal. Just now, he nudged her shoulder with his right foot after hearing her piercing voice screams echoed through the deadly jungle. His sharp ears helped him to find her location not too far from the river shore. He guessed that the fast stream that swept her to this place.

"How... how did you know that I was drowning earlier? Did you save me?"

Nick ignored her query and proceeded to pass the new set of smart watch to her as he said, "You've forgotten about your watch this morning. Keep it close to you. In this dangerous jungle, it served as your only communication tool and you can find the compass in it..."

Without waiting for Mia to take the watch from his hand, he threw it on the muddy soil and walked away into the jungle. Confused, Mia scratched her head as if it could help her brain functioning faster due to the lagging after just woke up. Indeed, she didn't bring her watch to the training hall early this morning because she was rushing to the training hall to avoid the punishment hence the watch was left at her room.

Picking up the new watch, she wrapped it around her wrist and pressed open the contact list. Luckily the cloud technology installed in that watch had rescued her from thriving for survival in this jungle alone. The contact list had saved both of her roommates number and obviously the 'FOX' contact number as her emergency call.

A notification popped up on the screen. 'PLEASE BE AT THIS LOCATION BEFORE THE SUN SETS.' Attached with it was the GPS location of the said place. The notification was sent to her roughly 10 minutes ago.

Looking at the sun position, it was high up in the sky hence it indicated the noon time. She had half a day to reach at this location but she must first find Carolyn and Jane as to cling on two of them to help her survived in this wild place. Was the signal strong enough? Mia attempted the calling on Carolyn's number first but then it didn't get through. She then dialled up Jane's number however the result was still the same. No choice, she had to go into the jungle alone to find the signal.

She dusted off some of the clay on her b.u.t.t and stabilised her body on that muddy soil. She had never been into a place like this for the past 24 years thus she doubted if she could survive till the end. Her emotions was getting mixed up with fear, resentment especially to Nick for abandoning her there despite being her master and a little hope that she won't end up being other living beings' dinner.

She remembered the direction that Nick took just now hence she headed the same path as he was. With the compass and GPS functions set on her watch, she started her journey. Ahead of her was hundred thousands of tall and big trees with wild animals silently sneaking up on her. It was scarier than seeing a ghost right in front of her eyes as she could sense their presence but didn't know where they were. So she was constantly on alert and even the slightest movement like the wind passed by her, she got frightened by it.

Carefully she stepped on the branches that fell down and jumped over big hurdles lied on her route and followed the direction given from her smart watch and at the same time, she kept on checking the signal. The land structure started to go downhill and the terrain became more rocky and slippery. The fastest way to get over to the other side was to climb down the the roots of the giant fig trees.

She slowly got hang on the root and swung her body forward before grabbing on another root below her. She kept swinging her body and gradually moved downward the terrain. So far everything was smooth until she reached a more flat ground with less giant trees around her. Looking back at how far she had moved, she couldn't help but felt proud of this little achievement. At least she had uncovered a hidden skill this time. Perhaps, she could play the role of a female tarzan or monkey in the future.

Keep going, she passed one by one obstacle. Based on the GPS, she was getting into the centre part of the jungle but it was still far from the location she needed to go. Mia reattempted calling both of her roommates but the calls were not connected. With a grunt, she opened back the GPS function and continued her journey.

But as she moved forward, a swift and fast shadow passed by her and rustling sound the shadow made almost jumped her heart out of the body. Her eyes failed to catch the shadow but vaguely, it resembled a human or.... mammal?
