My Guardians - Abused RWBY Fanfic

Chapter 16 - Purify ; Remorse

Third Person POV

Gently setting her down in the wagon beside Yang, Qrow took a deep breath, dragged the wagon along the path, parked it nearby where he can respond promptly when they are in danger, and stood directly in front of the man who has become a shadow of his former self to shield the girls from his view.

Squinting his tired eyes, Tai finally realized the man in front of him. A fellow drunk wearing a red cloak similar to his daughter's but only tattered, a gray dress shirt with a long coat tail, and black dress pants and shoes.

Taiyang: "...Qrow? Is that you?"

Despite his livid state, Qrow found himself calmly answering the question with another question in a calm yet intimidating tone.

Qrow: "Tai, is that supposed to be you? And they say I was the drunk one..."

The blonde father could not answer, his head hung low in shame. While Qrow did his best to cover his view, Tai could still see a bit of the small wagon. Meaning, Qrow found out about what he did to Yang. On one hand, he is glad that the girls are safe after Yang fled for Raven's house, and on the other, he is shameful of what he is done and slightly afraid on what his friend might do to him, unaware that this is his third strike and the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

Qrow resisted the rising urge to give Tai a beatdown, not yet at least, and instead circulate his Aura and directing it to his eyes, this time smaller in quantity while preparing the item Cyrus made overnight, resulting in the child being on the verge of passing out by the time it was delivered to him with instructions of how to use it.

Particles of light that were previously only visible to the Spirits and Ozpin were floating about. Focusing on the ones around Tai, he could see that it was a mix of black, purple, and red that were sticking in Tai's body as if an extra layer of skin, while he could see a fiery orange within his body. There was also a thin line of black energy that is extending from a direction, stretching as far as he could see.

From the clues laid out, he could see that the imp was either complacent enough to not bother hiding his magic because of the natural lacking of humans to see this type of energy, or it was just plain stupid that doesn't even know how to conceal or remove traces of its involvement.

Qrow: "Did you just realize what you've put them through?"

Taiyang: " It was an acc-"

While being a successful huntsman needs patience and self-control, Qrow could not keep his cool as he aggressively lifted Tai through his collar. He poured out all his grievances and forgot to hold back the cussing and s.e.x.u.a.l related words.

Qrow: " Accident? This... was an ACCIDENT?! How about when you beat up both my sister and Aurum? Do you realize what you've done to them?! Do you know how painful it was for Raven to run away?! To leave Yang and Aurum in your incompetent hands?! Do you know how Aurum felt every damn day through the sh*t you've put him through?! How about whenever Summer did something unholy to him, did you stop her?! NOOO! You let her cheat on you using the kid as a living s.e.x toy! You even roped in Yang to harm him as a family bonding activity! What kind of sick father are you?!?!"

At the mention of those 2, the black particles kicked in and started to blaze like a raging flame, signifying that it activated. His eyes were already red because of his weeping, but the shade of the color deepened, akin to how Yang's would change whenever her semblance was activated. He too, couldn't control his words.

Tai removed himself out of Qrow's hands by violently pushing him away while delivering a right hook towards Qrow's face. Since Tai was drunk and was probably weeping away, he couldn't put up much of a fight because of how shaky his steps are and how lacking his speed is, allowing Qrow to tackle him to the ground and restrain his arms by straddling his back.

As futile as his actions were, Tai struggled like a worm while letting out grievances of his own.

Taiyang: "How would you know what it felt like to be betrayed by your own wife?! Your sister cheated on me with that Graphite bastard! And that little sh*t? He was an eyesore with all his crying! He wasn't even my son, and he got all of Raven's attention! He got what he deserved for being a nuisance that's only fit to become a slave and punching bag!"

Qrow: "You!!!"

Yang was only sad that the only men in her family are fighting, even if Tai hit her, while Ruby is sad because of the situation. The family's condition worsened when her mother went missing. Tai became a depressed alcoholic, to the point that he was demoted to becoming only a part-time teacher in for the afternoon combat classes, Yang became increasingly violent and Ruby's sanity and childish purity was on the verge of being broken.

Unfortunately, even if she understood his reasons, she too along with Zwei became depressed after Aurum fled the house, even finding herself thinking that Aurum betrayed her by not taking her with him just to look for her mother.

Ruby: "Nooo! Please stop fighting! I don't want you and dad to get hurt uncle Qrow!"

Yang: "Don't hurt dad uncle Qrow! Please!"

Qrow reluctantly lowered his arm into the pocket in his pants with a sad and frustrated sigh, before pulling out the item that looked like a lucky charm. He gently tapped it on the back of Tai's head after placating the girls that it was for Tai's good.

He spoke to the mad dragon while restraining his sadness.

Qrow: " *sigh*I won't diverge how it was found, but we discovered that you were affected with…a semblance. I don't know how this mystical stuff actually works, but I hope this brings clarity to your mind. The kids need you to be functional again, Tai."

After uttering those words, Qrow followed Cyrus's instructions by inserting a steady amount of Aura into the charm resulting in a soft white glow. Qrow then started to chant according to the words he had to memorize.

Qrow: "Thou whom sullied by taint, by mine authority as one who is blessed by Light I banish thy anguish brought by the befouled, [ Proluo ] !"

The light then slowly receded until it was gone along with the charm disintegrating into ash. Removing it from Tai's neck, they waited in a tense state as the children's tears were threatening to fall out of Ruby and Yang's eyes once again. Thankfully, Tai woke up shortly as Qrow stood up and prepare himself. Cyrus' charm might be effective, but he takes the effects with a grain of salt because of the slight chance that it was ineffective. These thoughts were blown away however, once Tai began to roughly vomit a foul substance to that point that it formed a small puddle.

Qrow deduced that this is the side benefit of the charm that Cyrus talked about. Tai's liver was cleansed of the harmful effects of alcohol, while his beer belly slightly deflated. After all, it did take some of his body's nutrients to flush it out.

The clarity in Tai's sober eyes can be found along with a massive amount of regret and guilt. Now that he is out of the influence of the curse, he could finally comprehend his past actions, causing him to weep before groveling towards the three.

Taiyang: "I'm sorry… I'm sorry... I'm sorry… Yang, I'm sorry I hurt you… Ruby, I'm sorry I'm a bad father…Qrow I- "

Seeing this pathetic sight, Qrow's frustrations grew and finally, he couldn't take it anymore.

*BAM*

Taiyang: "ugh!"

Ruby & Yang: "Dad!"

Ruby and Yang were about to shout to their uncle, but seeing his fists shaking and the tears in eyes, they kept mum.

Qrow let out another sigh, before continuing his words.

Qrow: "I don't have the right to forgive you for what you've done to Raven and Aurum. You should ask them to forgive you in person…but they most likely wouldn't."

Tai was visibly sad because of his words. It was the truth after all. Why would they forgive a bastard like him for doing all of that stuff?

Qrow: "But nonetheless, you should try. I don't know about Raven, but in Aurum's case, can you wait till at least Yang is at the age where she can attend Beacon? Aurum is still in a shaky sta-"

Yang: "Why…"

Qrow: "Uhh what was that Ya-"

Yang: "Why should dad apologize to that trash?!"

Bewildered, he was about to question her when she continued.

Yang: "He was just something that I can punch my frustrations out! Why does dad have to do that?! I don't understand how he should force dad to apologize! I-"

Taiyang: "It's my fault that you're thinking like that…He, Aurum, is supposed to be your brother, and yet what I've done to him… are actions that fathers are supposed to avoid. I…I'm sorry I forced you to think that way…but Yang…I..no we, have to ask his forgiveness. What we did was wrong."

She could feel him kissing her hair, but she was too absorbed on his words and Ruby's tears that she couldn't get mad that her hair is now a mess.

Taiyang: "So sweety…please understand. Even if he won't forgive us, we should change ourselves and try to make up with him. We have to."

She couldn't understand.

Why, just why do they have to do that?!

In frustration, she unconsciously activated her semblance, and with the meager strength it boosts for not receiving any damage, she forced herself out of the embrace and ran to her room, slamming it shut in frustration.

Outside, the others can only be swept by the sad atmosphere, with Ruby crying her eyes out in Tai's shoulders after carrying her.

Qrow: "Today's been quite eventful… Tai, go inside and bring Ruby to her room to rest. You should too. We'll clean up and talk to Yang tomorrow."

Nodding, he walked inside and closed the door, still slightly shaking from exhaustion despite being free from his drunken state.

Qrow: "Any reason why you're peeping on us? You're doing a bad job at hiding, you know?"

Acknowledging that he could finally talk to Qrow, the figure stepped out of the shadow cast by the foliage to reveal a red-eyed, silver-haired gentleman wearing a black butler's outfit and white gloves. He had his hair swept back while being pointy at the end of the tips as if it was spikes.

???: "My apologies for eavesdropping. I couldn't help but do so by accident as I was waiting for a moment to insert myself into the situation."

The man suddenly realized his mistake, before bowing his head slightly with his right arm to his c.h.e.s.t.

???: "Ah, where are my manners? I am Lycan Silver. I was sent to investigate a recent case of teleportation that took place nearby."

With a polite and charming smile, Lycan raised his head.
